Chapter 54

Jace's POV

I was on my way back from the Mystic Pack knowing that we are official

allies now and since it didn't take as long as I thought it was going to I

was able to leave earlier then I thought and head back home. I was half

way home when I stopped for the night so that I didn't fall asleep

behind the wheel. I woke up early the next morning and got on the

road to finish my journey home since I was very eager to get back to

my family.

I sped the entire way back making it back in half the time it would've

taken me. I parked in front of the house and got out it was late

afternoon early evening when I walked into the house but something

was off.

"Skylar, Lilith I'm home" I called out but no one answered back. Anxiety

coursed through my veins as I ran throughout the house to look for

them thinking maybe they were sleeping but no, no one was in the

house and their scents weren't as strong. Panic surged through me as

my mind starting to wonder and throw scenarios around at why they

weren't here so I decided to try and link my mate and see if I could

reach her and find out where she was.

“Skylar baby I'm home early and at the house where are you? Please

baby let me know where you are I'm starting to worry that something

happened please answer me baby girl’ I link her panicked

I'm glad your back early but we need to talk and it's important. Jasper

and I are at the pack hospital with Lilith so come here and I'll have

Jasper bring you to the room so we can talk’ She linked back sounding

very sad and defeated. I ran out of the house and ran the entire way to

the pack hospital and sure enough Jasper was waiting outside for me

with a sad look in his eyes. We walked in silence as he brought me to

my mate and daughter. I walked in the room and seen Skylar sitting on

the edge of the hospital bed looking sadly down at our little girl

sleeping away in the bed. I could see the silent tears that were spilling

out of her eyes as she watched Lilith sleep.

I walked over to her and wrapped her into a hug as she turned and

sobbed into my chest letting everything she had bottled up inside out. I

rubbed soothing circles up and down her back while she cried and

eventually they subsided. Skylar pulled away sniffling looking up at me

with such sad eyes before she cleared her throat and spoke to me and I

was not expecting what she had to tell me.

"Jace it's Lilith she's not doing good. Lucas attacked again after you had

left he got a vamp to come and grab Lilith and lure Jasper and I to him

as he held our little girl. He had bitten her putting more venom into her

to get us there. once we found them he taunted us as he held her

before he bit into her again releasing even more venom into her

system. Jasper brought her here as soon as the vamp let her go as I

took off after him and killed him." she told me. I just stood there

holding her as she told me what all happened while I was gone.

"Jasper and I left her here since she was asleep still so we went home to

eat and shower and sleep but yesterday was eventful because Lucas

showed up at our door. Jasper held me back as Lucas taunted and said

why he did what he did to us and then he thought he was going to get

away unharmed but he was wrong. I gave him a 5 second head start

but I caught up to him and we fought before I caught him and dragged

his sorry ass back to the house and had him thrown in a cell in silver

chains with an injection of wolfsbane. I was there earlier as I beat the

living shit out of him until he passed out and then I showered and came

here to see Lily since she still hasn't woken up. I've been here for about

10 minutes before you linked me asking where we were, the doctors

have been running all kinds of tests but they don't know why she hasn't

woken up since she isn't under sedation anymore. They figure the

amount of vampire venom in her system is still keeping it in shock and

that's why she hasn't woken up yet, also since the increase of venom in

her system it has increased everything else meaning that her life has

been shortened even more now and we don't know how long she has

with us anymore everything is now very uncertain considering they

don't think she will wake up and if she does it will be a miracle and

everyday that she wakes up will be a miracle since she should have died

when she first got injected when I was taken the day after she was

born." Skylar got out through gritted teeth and choked back sobs. My

heart was breaking for my mate and for the fact that we no longer

knew how much longer we had with out little girl making each and

every moment we have with her if we get any more all the more

precious and cherished.

I was furious when I found out that my little girl was attacked again and

how it was my ex-beta's fault. The only good news that I heard was that

he was caught and in the cells chained up with silver and getting

wolfsbane injections just like Sky endured during her imprisonment. I

was so furious that I went to the cells and looked in at the bastard that

had started all of this, he was still unconscious but I could see what Sky

did to him and I was so proud of her for doing it knowing that she was

the one who needed it the most. I just stared at him with so much

anger and hatred and loathing but I wasn't going to touch him at all his

punishments were going to be delivered by Skylar and her alone since

she is the one who endured the most other then Lilith.

As I was exiting the cells I got a mind link from Skylar telling me that

Lilith still wasn't awake and that she was heading to the house to eat

and sleep while Jasper sat with her. I walked back to the house to wait

for her since I was closer and would make it back before her. Once back

I went to the kitchen and started to make my mate some food knowing

she had to eat whether she wanted to or not. I just finished making

some chicken and pasta when Skylar walked and made her way to the

kitchen following her nose considering I knew she couldn't resist my

chicken and pasta.
