Chapter 48

Jace's POV

It took us 3 days to get home but when we pulled up we only saw

Jasper standing outside waiting for us. As we got out we walked over to

Jasper with worried expressions for not seeing our little girl anywhere

or smelling her scent anywhere.

"Jasper where is everyone and where's our daughter?" I question as

worry and agitation lace my words

"Alpha, Luna I'm glad you are okay and finally home a lot has happened

since you have been gone but don't worry your daughter is safe and I

will tell Lucy that it's safe to bring her home. You might want to come in

and sit down before I tell you everything that has happened since you

have been away from the pack.” Jasper tells us before his eye's glaze

over as he mind links Lucy to bring our baby girl home.

We walk into the pack house as the warriors bring in all of the luggage

and put ours in our room as we go and make our way into the living

room. Once I get Skylar settled in on the couch I go to the kitchen and

grab a bottle of water from the fridge for her. As I settle in next to her

we wait I notice Dalton standing by the window staring out and I

noticed that the warriors are also gone. I sit there wondering what's

going on when Jasper comes into the room and addresses us.

"Alpha, Luna I am so glad the both of you are alright and back home

safely.” Jasper says with a smile

"Thank you Jasper we are glad to finally be home as well. Now why isn't

our daughter here and where is everyone?" I ask concern lacing every

word

Skylar's POV

Once Jace asked Jasper why our daughter wasn't here and where

everyone was I noticed the pain, guilt, and hurt swirling around in his

eyes knowing something bad had happened while we were gone. I

placed my hand on my mate's shoulder to calm him down as I looked

at Jasper.

"Jasper hun take your time I can tell something horrible happened and

that you feel guilty and hurt about what happened, so please take your

time no one is rushing or forcing you to tell us right this second.” I say

with a gentle smile hoping to ease some of the pressure that is surely

weighing on him. I watch him stand and pace the room obviously trying

to figure out where to start the explanation from when I notice his eye's

glaze over knowing someone was linking him.

"Lucy and Lilith should be here by tomorrow night the earliest since I

sent them to the Mystic Pack to keep them safe.” Jasper tells us

"Okay until then why don't you start from the beginning and fill us in

on what happened while we were away and take your time we aren't

going to rush you" I tell him as I give Jace a look telling him to behave

himself.

"Alright I appreciate it. Anyways I guess I'll start with the day the Jace

left here to go to the Blue Willow Pack. Once he was gone we had a few

random rogue attacks and Dr. Ramsay has been keeping track of Lilith's

growth and everything for you. Anyways one day one of pack wolves

was in town and seen 3 strange men who were making their way to the

pack house so we went on high alert and before Jace left we had a

panic room made with a hand scanner and a secret passageway leading

away from the pack house as well." Jasper explains as I sat there

nodding me head

"Since we were told about the men we were all on high alert and had

wolves patrolling almost around the clock just to be on the safe side

but it didn't help. Lucy, Lilith, and I were watching TV in the living room

when I got a very bad feeling since I hadn't gotten any updates from

the wolves on patrol for a while so I brought Lucy and Lilith to the panic

room and told them to stay there until I either came to get them or told

her to grab the emergency bag and run to the Mystic Pack where I

know the beta and Alpha pretty well, so I knew they would help protect

them.” he went on recollecting the events of what went on but I wasn't

prepared for what happened next.

"I knew something happened to the wolves on patrol when I didn't hear

anything back and when I tried to mind link them all I got back was

silence. After I made sure Lucy and Lily were safe I came back upstairs

to find the front door smashed open so I carefully made my way

around the house being as quiet as I could. I heard yelling, growling

and things being smashed coming from upstairs and I knew that the

intruders were in the house and had found Alex and Amber who were

resting upstairs.” Jasper grew quiet and solemn from just thinking

about the events so I moved closer to him and placed my hand on his

knee to give him some support knowing this was very hard for him.

"Thank you Luna, Once I made it upstairs and to where everyone was I

noticed the intruders were the men that took you Skylar all those

months ago. I saw Alex tackle one of them out of the window and land

on the ground with a thud, then the other two moved towards Amber

and cornered her and before she could do anything they both lunged

at her with their claws out and pinned her before they snapped her

neck and once I seen that I lost it and shifted attacking them in an

instant taking them by surprise since they didn't even realize I was

there. I killed one of them before the other one got a grip on me and

broke a few of my ribs as I got out of his hold I jumped through the

broken window Alex had went through as I landed with a thud yelping

at the pain from the broken ribs I looked up when I heard Alex in his

wolf form whimper and I could see him limping while he tried his

hardest to keep fighting with the the guy he tackled who was also

limping slightly but I could see in Alex's eyes that he was exhausted and

wouldn't be able to keep at it for much longer." Jasper was full on

crying by the time he got to this part of the story making me fill with

sorrow and dread I held his hands in mine as I squeeze them so he

knows we are here for support as I looked as Jace whose expression

was also that of sorrow and guilt as he looked at Jasper. He glanced at

me and rubbed my back as he wiped away my tears I hadn't known I

was even shedding.
