Chapter 2

Skylar's POV

I shifted and ran to the pack border where I stopped and hesitated for a

few moments. “What should we do?” asked my wolf Athena. “I don't

know Athena.” I say to her. I heard a patrol guard coming so I picked a

direction and started running. I ran for 8 hours straight until my paws

gave out underneath me. I shifted back to my human form to let my

wolf get some rest as she was exhausted from running all this way once

I was shifted back and dressed I found a spot under a tall tree to lay

down. Once I layed down my exhaustion started to set in and I fell into

a peaceful dreamless slumber. I awoke on the forest floor when I heard

a twig snap, I instantly stood up scared and realized that I had

company. When I took a look at my surroundings I noticed 4 extremely

gorgeous guys were standing around me completely shirtless cornering

me into the tree I was sleeping under moments ago. I could tell by the

feel in the air that one of them was the alpha, that is when one of the

very handsome men who I assumed was the alpha spoke. I couldn't

help but feel slightly calm around them which I found very confusing

when I noticed the delicious smell of chocolate and mint that wafted

from one of them which only added to my confusion.

“Hello there I am Alpha Jace of the Night Shade Pack. Now tell me what

you think you are doing on my territory rogue.” He growled out at me

in his alpha tone. I faced the angry alpha terrified at what he might do

to me for being here. “I am so, so, so, sorry alpha I didn't mean to

trespass on your territory please forgive me I was just passing through

I'm not quite sure where I'm gonna go but I'm just so very sorry.” I say

terrified and then I begin to cry uncontrollably. That's when Jace did

something that no one was expecting, he walked towards me and

pulled me into him and hugged me to his chest. When he did that the

smell of chocolate and mint surrounded me and it was comforting and

made me feel safe in his arms so much so that I started to cry my heart

out even harder into his shoulder. While I was crying and breathing in

his oh so nice scent I noticed the slight feeling of tingles that I could

feel from where he was touching me which had me wondering if he

could feel them too.

“Hey there it's gonna be alright he cooed into my ear. Why aren't you

in a pack, a gorgeous girl like you shouldn't be out here wandering

around all alone. Do you have a pack? I'm sure there are people who

miss you" he said to me.

“We agree as well” the other 3 guys that were standing nearby

watching chimed in.

I looked up at all of them with scared eyes “I used to have a pack but I

left it a few days ago. I couldn't stay there any longer and endure the

hatred and abuse anymore.” I said sadly

Jace began to become visibly tense and angry at what I had said to him,

his tone had completely changed like he was upset at the fact that I had

been abused which made me wonder why he would care so much as

we had just met.

“What happened to make you leave your old pack? What pack were

you from, and what's your name darling?” Jace asked me in a soft yet

tense tone.

“I'm Skylar, Skylar Rose and I was apart of the Silver Moon Pack. My

parents were the Alpha and Luna of the pack before they were killed in

a rogue attack and then my father's beta took over as Alpha and

blamed me for their deaths which is when the abuse started. I got used

to the hatred and slurs and every other type of abuse they gave me but

when my mate rejected me, it just put me over the edge and I couldn't

stand being there anymore and so I ran away from them. Even my

brother and the alpha beat me so bad once that they nearly killed me.

Please don't let them know that you found me I don't wanna go back

there, I'll leave right now if you want and I will never step foot on your

territory again. I'm so very sorry I know you are the strongest pack

around, just please don't kill me I don't want to die yet.” I whimper as

fresh tears make their way down my flushed cheeks.

He stared at me with shock and anger swirling in his eyes and he let out

a loud grow! “Your mate rejected you what a fucking bastard, as for the

abuse you had to go through who would be so cruel to someone so

beautiful. I wouldn't even wish something like that on a vampire and

your pack was supposed to be your family and protect you not harm

you. If you would like to you could join my pack, we will make sure that

you are properly fed, give you a place to live and call home, we will

train you and protect you and make you feel welcome. You will never

have to go back there ever again.” Alpha Jace said with a sheepish grin

and love and care in his voice.

I stared at him in shock and when I slowly looked around at the other 3

guys standing around us and they were staring at me with pleading

eyes. As I looked at them thinking about it I couldn't resist it anymore

and decided to not throw away my only chance to finally be happy and

have a true family and home because being with them made me feel

safe and wanted which is something I hadn't felt in a very long time.

“Yes I would love to join your pack and I promise you that I will not let

you down alpha.” I said smiling with tears of joy running down my face.

They all smiled at me happily while Jace hugged me even tighter to him

which made me feel safe and relaxed and just felt oh so nice after he

hugged me he held me hand while introducing me to everyone. “Well

in that case I would like to introduce you to everyone. These two on my

right are the twins Jasper and Alex they just turned 18 a few days ago.”

I looked at them and smiled and they both had big happy goofy grins

on their faces and then the next thing I know they both decided to

sandwich me between them and give me the biggest bear hug ever. We

finally pulled apart when we heard a low growl come from Jace which

made us all look at him in confusion when he realized what he just did

he blushed in embarrassment and looked away from us shyly.

“Yayy we have a new sister” exclaimed the one I presumed to be Jasper

“No she’s my sister” Alex said and then they began to argue over who's

sister I was and when they started getting heated and their tone got

harsher I flinched and started to back away from them. Jace noticed

what I was doing and came over and hugged me to him before turning

to the twins “STOP, guys don't you realize that you are scaring Skylar.”

he said to them

“We're sorry alpha” the twins said in unison while they looked down in

embarrassment.

“I'm sorry alpha.” I said to him shyly

He took my face into his hands and said “Hey you have nothing to be

sorry for and you don't have to call me alpha just call me Jace okaii.” I

grinned widely at that and then a very tall guy around 6'7" started to

speak to everyone.

“Hey what about me I wanna meet my new sister too” he said pouting

like a little kid

“Whoops sorry bro I kinda forgot you were even here, ha ha, where are

my manners this is my beta and best friend Lucas” Jace said introducing

us finally.

"Hi" I said in a small voice

“Hey” Lucas replied with a kind smile making me feel welcome.

The alpha I mean Jace came up to me and took me by the hand and

said “Why don't we bring you home now to meet the rest of the pack.”

When he said that it made me feel so happy to finally have found

somewhere that I felt wanted and safe. When I left I never thought I

would find a place to ever call home again but now I do and I am so

grateful for meeting these extremely hot guys. As we were walking back

to the pack house the twins were arguing most of the way over whom I

was going to love more. I couldn't help but laugh at them my new

found family.
