Chapter 27

Jace's POV

After a wonderful time with my mate, Luna and mother of my daughter

we went to go and check up on Lucy, Amber and the twins who were

playing and watching Lilith for us while we had some alone time

together. When we were showered and dressed we walked out of our

room and down the stairs hand in hand while slowly making our way to

the backyard where we knew they would be. As soon as we got outside

we saw them all sitting on a blanket playing and laughing with Lilith

who was just cooing and moving and just having an all out ball being

outside. We stood just outside the pack house admiring everyone

enjoying and spending time with our daughter knowing she was in

good hands and with people who give their lives for her already.

Skylar eventually walked over to them and sat and played with our little

girl while I stood there admiring the sight even though I had a nagging

feeling in my gut telling me that something bad was coming soon. Even

though it has been 2 months since we got that note from that Vance

person saying that he was coming for my mate I have had more patrols

out and I don't let Skylar or my daughter leave the pack house unless I

am with them. Even if they are outside I always make sure I am with

them or I have at lease 10 warriors with them at all times just in case.

Before I could walk over to the group and just relax a little and enjoy

being with my family I got a mind link from one of my wolves that was

out on patrol.

“Alpha we have a situation that needs your attention right away" he says

hurriedly through the link

“What is it what's going on?" I ask him back concerned

“All the rogues that were camping out on the south border are now

getting ready to attack’ he says with a grunt as if he was in pain. I soon

start getting more reports like this from all the other wolves that were

out on patrol. Going into complete alpha mode I walked over to my

mate and my friends and told them what was going on and what I

wanted them to do.

"Skylar I want you, Lucy, Amber, Jasper and Alex all to go into the

house and stay there until I get back.” I say to her in a demanding voice

making sure she knew that this was serious and urgent.

"Alright baby we will and don't worry about us we have 4 very skilled

and deadly fighters protecting us and I am very capable of handling

myself so me and Lilith will be alright. I love yo Jace" She says back to

me as she scoops up our daughter and runs right back into the house

and locking the door behind them.

Jasper go around the pack house and make sure every window and

door is locked up tight and don't let Skylar or Lilith out of your sight." I

mind link him

“Got it Alpha I will protect them with my life’ He says back with

determination and love for his Luna and our daughter. I am so glad I

have people in my pack that I trust with watching my family. Once they

are inside and safe I shift and take off to the south border to help them

there while I mind link my warriors to shift and spread out along the

border to help out with the attacks and I also make sure I have at least

6 warriors stay behind and guard the pack house. Once I get to the

south border I see just how bad everything is and I can see at least 3 of

my men dead along with 6 of the rogues dead but they still out number

us greatly. I sprint into action attacking and dodging and killing rogues

left right and center as I help here and once my warriors get her I head

off to another part of the border to help them out. While I am out here

fighting the only thing I can think about is my mate and my daughter

hoping that they are alright and not in any sort of danger.

Skylar's POV

As soon as I saw Jace's expression I knew something was wrong. Once

he explained everything I scooped up my little girl and ran into the

pack house and made sure that it was locked as soon as Alex was

through. I saw Jasper zone out knowing he was talking through the

mind link before he turned to us and told us to go upstairs and go into

Lilith's room and lock the door and not to open it up unless for them or

Jace. Immediately Lucy, Amber, and I all look at each other and run up

to Lilith's room as I hear Jasper get Alex to help him make sure that

every door and window was locked and secured around the entire pack

house.

Once in Lilith's room me and Lucy go in but Amber needed to go to her

room to get something probably a knife just in case. We lock the door

behind her and go and sit in the comfy chairs I made sure were in here.

So that me and Jace and whoever else was in here with Lilith was

comfortable. Time seemed to drag on and Amber still hadn't come

back to the room and I was starting to get worried seeing as an uneasy

feeling was starting to settle in the pit of my stomach. As soon as Lucy

was going to go and look for her we heard a crash come from

downstairs along with a string of profanities and grunts knowing that

someone was in the house who wasn't supposed to be here and a fight

was breaking out.

Soon the sounds faded and then we heard foot steps coming closer to

us and soon they stopped right outside the door. The person stated

banging on the door excessively and I was surprised that Lilith didn't

wake up and start crying. Hesitantly Lucy asked who it was but they

never answered they just kept pounding on the door until it eventually

broke down and he walked in and looked around until his eyes fell on

me and my daughter making him smile.

"I found her she's up here boys" He yells out to the 2 other guys he was

with as they ran our way and coming into the room making our odds of

getting out of this without getting too hurt right out the window. In my

mind I start to panic as the only thing I wanted to do was to protect my

daughter at all costs and I will do anything to make sure she stays safe

even if it means giving myself over to them. Before I can even come to

terms with what is going on Lucy had shifted into her beautiful blonde

wolf and started to attack the men that had come into the room

looking for me to take me away from here. I snapped out of my

thoughts when I heard Lucy whimper as she was tossed into the wall on

the other side of the room.

"What the fuck do you want from us?" I ask the men standing there not

even fazed by Lucy's attack attempt.

"Don't worry sweetie we don't care about that thing you are holding we

were only sent here to get you for our Alpha” the one in the middle

said with a wicked grin

"What if I don't want to go with you?" I ask

"Well we can do this the easy way or the hard way and you won't like

the hard way. So be a good girl and come with us willingly before we

take your daughter with us instead and we don't know what our Alpha

will do her since she isn't you." He says back to me before walking

closer to me anticipating what I will do next. I look over to Lucy who

had shifted back and was passed out on the floor where she landed,

then I looked down at my daughter who was still fast asleep and

oblivious to what was going on around her.

"I love you my baby girl and I promise you I will see you again” I say to

her as tears stream down my face at a steady pace. I place her gently

back into her crib making sure she was alright before I turn around and

give myself over to the men not wanting any one else to get hurt

because of me. As they walk me out of the house I make sure they

aren't paying attention to me as I mind link my mate.

I'm so sorry baby please take care of Lilith for me and tell her I love

her. I love you so much baby and promise me you will look for me. I

don't want to do this but it's the only way for me to save you so please

promise me you will find me and I will find a way to make sure I make it

back to you. I 'm sorry and I love you so, so, so much my one and only

love’ I say to Jace through the mind link before blocking it before I got

caught.
