Chapter 2599: Devil Calamity (3)
Myth Beyond Heaven
chapter 2599: devil calamity (3)

long xi, in her true form as the dragon god of light, was a sight to behold. her massive body stretched across the sky, her scales shimmering with a radiant, ethereal light that seemed to banish the encroaching darkness. her eyes, now glowing orbs of pure energy, blazed with a fury that could make even the bravest of warriors tremble.
with a deafening roar that echoed across the azure world, long xi unleashed a torrent of pure, concentrated light energy. the beam, brighter than a thousand suns, shot towards mo xie, carrying with it the wrath of a dragon god and the desperation of a protector.
mo xie, his eyes widening slightly, quickly raised his hands, summoning a barrier of darkness to shield himself. the beam of light struck the barrier, the two forces colliding with a cataclysmic explosion that shook the very fabric of reality.
boom!!!
the impact sent shockwaves rippling through the air, tearing through the battlefield and scattering the lesser devil gods like leaves in a storm. yun niu, still cradling yun xia's battered body, shielded her eyes from the blinding light, her heart pounding in her chest.
when the light subsided, mo xie stood, his barrier of darkness flickering but intact. a faint smile played on his lips as he regarded long xi, his eyes gleaming with a mixture of amusement and respect.
"impressive, dragon queen," mo xie said, his voice echoing across the battlefield. "but it will take more than that to defeat me."
long xi, her massive form hovering in the air, did not respond. her eyes, glowing with divine light, were fixed on mo xie, her every muscle coiled, ready to strike. she could feel the rage, the sorrow, the desperation of the azure world's inhabitants, and it fueled her power, strengthened her resolve.
with another earth-shattering roar, she lunged at mo xie, her movements swift and precise despite her immense size. her claws, glowing with divine light, slashed through the air, aiming to tear through mo xie's defenses.
mo xie, his expression still calm, raised his hand, and a swirling vortex of darkness appeared, deflecting long xi's claws. he countered with a wave of dark energy, but long xi, with a powerful beat of her wings, evaded the attack, her form a blur of motion against the darkened sky.
"goodbye, dragon queen," mo xie said, his voice devoid of emotion.
long xi knew that it was almost impossible for her to turn the tide in this condition. but even so, a spark of defiance still burned within her.
as the sphere of darkness was about to engulf her, she opened her eyes, her gaze fixed on mo xie. and in those eyes, he saw not fear, not despair, but a fierce, unyielding determination. "you may defeat me, mo xie," long xi said, her voice weak but steady. "but you will never win."
mo xie's smile, however, didn't fade. instead, it widened, taking on a cruel, almost mocking quality. he had seen that look before, in the eyes of countless foes he had faced over the millennia. it was the look of defiance, of desperation, of a cornered animal ready to fight to its last breath.
"brave words, dragon queen," mo xie said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "but ultimately meaningless. you see, even if you somehow manage to survive this, even if you somehow find the strength to continue fighting, what will you achieve? your precious azure world is already doomed. yun lintian is not here to save you. and even if he were, he would be powerless to stop the inevitable."
he paused, his gaze shifting towards the struggling form of yun xia, then back to long xi. a sinister glint sparkled in his eyes as a new idea formed in his mind.
"but perhaps," he continued, his voice taking on a thoughtful tone. "perhaps there is a way for you to be useful, even in defeat."
with a flick of his wrist, he dispelled the sphere of darkness, the deadly energy dissipating into nothingness. long xi, her body trembling with exhaustion and pain, could only watch in confusion as mo xie approached her.
"i have decided to spare you, for now," mo xie said, his voice smooth and deceptively gentle. "not out of mercy, mind you. but because i believe you can still serve a purpose."
long xi struggled to speak. "you..."
mo xie's smile widened, his eyes gleaming with a cold, predatory light. "i want you to watch," he said. "i want you to watch as i torture yun lintian's family, his friends, his loved ones. i want you to see the despair on their faces, to hear their screams, to feel their pain. and i want you to know that it's all because of you. because you failed to protect them."
