Darius
I stayed up all night talking to him, holding his hand reminding him how much I love him. I spoke to him about all the moments we had, from the very first time we met until now. Deborah came in too, she talked to him for a while.
I realised that Darius was no where to be seen.
"I couldn't save him" he'd said. Could it mean...?
"Deborah," I wisphered, she was resting on the chair. She opened her eyes and looked at me. "Where is Darius?" She shoock her shoulders cluelessly. I swallowed. "Deborah I-"
"What is it?" She said, sitting up straight ing giving me her attention.
"Before he collapse, he said something." I said. "It might be the reason why he is still in a Coma, debating wether he shoud go or stay. He said-"
"What?" She asked, "what did he say Ella?"
"He said that- that he couldn't help him."
She stood up, "help who?"
"I don't know," I answered honestly.
"And you are thinking- Darius, right?" She asked, I nodded, hesitating.
She stormed out of the room.
"Come on Clyde," I pleaded, holding him tight with one hand and brushing his hair with the other. "Please wake up, for me." I cried,"you said you would never leave me and you did the opposite. Please do not do it again. Please say."
Fe hours later, Deborah came back. Tears in her eyes as she stood in the door frame. "You were right," she wisphered.
"Oh," I felt my heart break, I got up and hugged her tight. "It's okay to be okay."
"You were right," she sobbed into my shoulder, I held her tighter. Assuring her I am here. But she pushed me, and speeded to Clyde as she wiped away her tears. "Clyde you wake up this very second!" She spoke harshly, demanding. "You tried to save him and that's what matter, you cannot let yourself slip away because of that. I won't be able to take it, neither can dad nor Ella." I sobbed,"I lost mom, and now Darius. I can't lose you too brother please!"
I placed a hand on her shoulder, she pushed me away. I hugged her tight even though she tried to push me again and again, she was hurt, and I couldn't leave her like that.
"did you see that?" I said, wiping my tears. "He moved his hand, he moved his hand!" Daborah rushed out and brought the doctor.
"People in a coma are completely unresponsive. They do not move, do not react to light or sound and cannot feel pain." He said, "if you are sure, that's a progress. Keep talking to him.
And that is exactly what we did, we kept talking and talking. He woke up a month later, he refused to believe that he has been in a Coma. He kept asking for his brother, and denied that Deborah is his sister. He keeps saying that Deborah us young. He kept asking to see his mother and told us to make sure she comes with his favourite toy in hand. He talked weirdly, like he was a eight year old kid. He freaked out when he saw himself in the mirror, and punched it broken which hurt his hand.
The doctor didn't allow me to come in, but I'd had enough and walked inside. Tears were running down my eyes as I saw him cry like a little boy and scream at Deborah. As soon as his eyes landed on mine, he went completely silance and stared. Just stared. I smiled at him, he did not say anything, it felt like he stood still for more than five minutes. He tilted his head to the side and I tried to read his eyes that examined mine. I slowly walked closer, not wanting him to go through one of his scary moments where he screams and throws stuff.
"Clyde?" I spoke softly, still taking few steps forwards until I sat down on the Bed. "Do you know who i am?" I feared the answer, I truly did.
He stayed quite, his mouth moved a bit to talk but he hesitated a couple of times. "Eleanor?" He finally spoke, Deborah cried with a wide smile on her face.
I nodded repeatedly, tears still running down my face. "Yes," I said. "Eleanor."
"Eleanor" I repeated in relief, as everything clicked back to normal. He looked to his side. "Deborah" she nodded. "D-" he stutterd. "Darius is dead, Eleanor." He sobbed, I hugged him, he hurried his eyes in my check and shakes hard as he cried it all out.
"I am sorry," I said. "I am so sorry."
He contenued crying into my eyes, I stayed by he is side all day and night. He slept when the sun was out, with his cheeks still wet from tears. Deborah couldn't take it anymore, she had left long ago to take a walk. And when she was back, she walked straight to her room.
