Chapter 21: Chapter twenty-one

I want you closeWords: 6347

Work, stuck with me, bored.

The next morning he came downstairs as if I hadn't told him to rest. "What are you doing?" I asked.

"Eating an apple," he said as he reached for an apple from the basket in the middle of the table and took a bite.

"Your wounds did not heal yet," I stated. "You need to rest for a few days, is that so hard to do?"

"I have work," he said as he walked to the front door. "Besides, I feel fine."

I reached the front door before he did, blocking his exit. "Clyde Reed Dandrige," I spoke firmly. "You need to rest."

"I did not know my mother was still alive,"

"Ah!" I gasped, "that is not something to joke about"

"Well, it was funny." he said, "now, get out of my way."

"No"

"Eleanor," he warned.

"Clyde," I said.

"get out of my way or I will make you"

"make me," I dared, crossing my arms over my chest as I looked up at him knowing he is not in good shape at the moment for doing anything. But what I did not expect happened; he carried me and yanked me out of his way. Then quickly opened the front door and left. "Come back here this second!" I walked behind him, but he did not stop. So I followed him all the way to his car and got in the passenger seat next to him,  "you are not going anywhere"

"I will," he said.

"I am not leaving"

"Okay then," he said as he started the car. "You are the one who is going to be stuck at work with me, which I inform you, is not fun."

"Why do you go then?"

"I meant it's not fun for you," he said. "but It's plenty of fun for me, bossing everyone around and torturing people."

"You do not enjoy that," I said.

"you do not know what I like and dislike."

"I do not believe you enjoy that," I corrected.

The drive was silent, awkward silence.

Until he spoke again, "Why do you care so much?" He questioned, I did not answer, acting clueless. "About resting or whatever."

"I do not," he eyed me, I knew there was no point of lying. "Because it's a human thing to do," I said. "I am sorry that I care about someone's health."

The car ride was silent, he stared ahead at the road with his grumpy face on. I do not understand, how does he keep being unhappy all the time? I do not think it's healthy. He has to cheer up for a change. But he is Clyde, that would never happen.

We got out of the car and I immediately shuffled to the entrance.

He got a hold of me, "not so fast princess," he teased, frustrated with my impulse. "Stay close at all times."

"Why?" I asked.

"for starters, we don't want you around such people." He answered.

"I can manage on my own," I said as I walked away. "Thank you though"

"Eleanor!" He called, but I kept walking and didn't look back.

"Hello," I smiled wide at a ginger guy I bumped into. "I am Ella!" I reached my hand for him to shake.

"I am Nolan," he took my hand to shake, for a brief second at least before Clyde slapped his hand and pulled me away.

"What!" I snapped, "I was just making friends!"

"With the wrong people," he said.

"Dude!" Nolan narrowed his eyes at Clyde, taking offence.

"I don't mean you," Clyde rolled his eyes."Who knows who she introduces herself to."

"Noting to worry about," Nolan assured. "Prisoners won't be wandering around."

"Yeah," Clyde hissed. "That's what you said last time."

"Come on," he said. "Move on already it was an accident!"

"An accident that got a lot of our men killed."

"Won't happen again," Nolan said. Then he suddenly smiled wide, "I forgot to tell you, Ryan is back!"

"He is?" He asked eagerly, eyes wide open. Nolan nodded excitedly then walked away leading the way as Clyde followed him.

"Let's go!" Clyde said excitedly as he clapped once looking at the blonde-haired guy coming his way from across the room. "Ah!" He hugged who I assume Ryan and patted his back, "thought you would never be back" he joked as he did a little handshake thingy. I looked amused, who would have thought Clyde Reed Dandrige would have such a Bromance.

I cleared my throat, gaining Clyde's attention. "Oh right," he walked closer to me and so did Ryan. "Ryan, this is Eleanor."

"Ella actually," I said, reaching for his hand. Clyde rolled his eyes. "Pleasure"

"The please is mine," he smiled, kind of a flirty smile which I did not mind at all. Clyde hit him  on the chest for an unknown reason, "Sorry"

I spent the day moving around in every corner and every spot that catches my eyes, which may I say, drove Clyde crazy. I basically turned his day into a living hell.

"Eleanor!" He demanded, "come right here this second." He pointed in front in front of him.

"What?" I asked, standing in front of him. "Why so tensed? Chill out."

"Chill out?" He questioned, raising a brow.

"I don't know man, some lad used that phrase so I wanted to try it out!" I grinned.

"Man?" He shook his head, "Eleanor, stop moving around and let me do my work!"

"I am not holding you back," I said as I moved on my spot. "I am just looking around, go do whatever you want and leave me alone."

"Eleanor," he said as he held my shoulder firmly to stop me from moving.

"You know," I started as I looked into his eyes while I was captive by his firm hold. "You have got to stop calling me Eleanor, it's driving me crazy, so formal and for what? It's Ella, simply Ella."

"Okay Eleanor for once," he started and I rolled my eyes. "Come with me," he took my hand and led me to his office. "Sir right here, next to me for just a little while and we will leave, it won't take long I promise. Just let me work for an hour straight."

"Okay," I said.

"Okay?" He asked, shocked.

"Okay," I shrugged.

He let out a breath and walked sat behind his desk, "Thank you!" He made a thank you gestured by his hands.

"You are welcome," I tilted my head to the side as I have him a smile. I moved around his desk for most of the time as he focused on his work.

"Don't touch that," he said as soon as I reached for the bottle that has a ship in it. Apparently, he is still keeping an eye on me while he tensely worked.

"I am bored," I said which caused him to throw his head back on his seat in frustration.

"Not this again," he looked at me.

"I will just go outside until you are done."

"No," he said.

"I am not asking for permission," I said, I could see a smirk forming on his face for a split second then he immediately went back to serious. "Don't worry, I won't do anything stupid." I said as I opened the door, "I will just hang out with Nolan and Ryan."
