"She doesn't have any other bruises on her body, nothing to worry about. It's the adrenaline wearing off and exhaustion that made her pass out." An unknown female voice spoke near me as I slowly regained my senses.
"Then why is she not up yet?" A familiar heavy voice asks near me.
Slowly I try to open my eyes, the bright light around me kept increasing as I open my eyes fully, bringing my hand to my face I kept my palm on my forehead.
"Ah, I think she is regaining her conscious."
That unfamiliar female voice spoke again. this time I pry open my eyes successfully and looked at the ceiling for few seconds, my mind numb but after sometime, my surroundings were getting clearer. the ceiling more looked like it was metal painted in white more like a vehicle but what am I doing here?
"How are you feeling now ma'am?"
I snap my eyes to the voice to see a lady smiling warmly at me wearing a white overall with a stethoscope around her neck.
I stare at her blankly, why am I here?
"Ayesha?" I snap my head to left to see Farhan sitting on the black narrow leather seats. I frown looking at him, I follow my eyes at his hand holding my wrist, which was connected to IV tubes.
And then all the events rush back in my brain, the mall, that weird guy, shooting and Farhan coming to save me and I guess I passed out when he brought me out.
"Fine," I clear my throat, "Just a little headache." I say sitting up. My body feels so sore right now as I was stepped on million times.
On the second thought- I was.
"Alright, anything other than headache? Are you hurt somewhere?" The doctor asks again holding a notepad.
"No but my body is really sore." I answer, instinctively my hands went up to fumble with my hijab which now sat loosely on my head.
"I will prescribe some painkillers for you if you feel any pain. Also try to rest for the next two to three days, your pulse was really low when you passed out. Do you have any breathing problems ma'am?" She asks writing off on her notepad.
"No, I don't. I am a bit claustrophobic that's all." I say remembering the small room I was trapped in, my chest tightens remembering how I thought I wouldn't be out of there.
The doctor and basically promotes her hospital by offering me to get a therapy for it and handles the prescription to Farhan before taking off the IV cannula on hand and applying a bandage on it, giving a last nod she gets off the ambulance.
Yes I was laying in ambulance still parked in the mall's parking.
There were few ambulances in the parking with different people inside them getting treated and police cars parked, officers were spread here and there, wails of ambulance and people rushing and voices from police officers inquiring was heard. From here I could see the malls entrance were tapped by the security.
"Feeling better?" I snap my gaze from outside of the ambulance door and as I heard Farhan asking me.
"Yes, better than before." I nod.
"You were out for almost an hour." He says looking at my face.
"Really?" I sputter in surprise.
"The doctor said if you don't get up we might had to take you to hospital." He sighs looking away.
"Oh. But there's no need now." I eye his arms, momentarily distracted by the veins popping on his forearms through the rolled up sleeves of his shirt. But then I remember seeing a gash on his arm.
"You were injured, someone treated you?" I asked him reaching out for his arm,
"Yes, I got it done." he says showing me his arm, the gash left the fabric tear open, but I could make out the white bandage peeking from it.
"Only after assuring you were alive for the hundredth time." I heard a voice say, snapping my eyes towards the ambulance door, I spot Sakina leaning on it, with a orange juice tetra pack in her hand.
She smiles nodding towards me, "Sup."
Sup?
"Sup indeed." I reply smiling at her.
"You good? Any injuries?" She asks raising an eyebrow.
"All good. You?" I ask waving her to get inside.
She steps inside shoving my shoulder with her fist, "Fainting partners."
I stare at her fist and then at her, then her words click, "You fainted too?" I ask turning towards her.
She nods sipping from the box in her hand, "Right after we got separated in that crowd, I tried to get back to you but somehow felt down the stairs and next thing I know, I wake up to a over-smiling doctor right on my face." She brings all her fingers together and make a zooming sign.
"That was really awful." I sigh, "But atleast you don't know what it's being like stepped on by million people."
She winces moving back, "How bad?"
"Very. Some even fell on me. I swear I quite literally felt my heart in my throat." I wince reminiscing the memory.
"Well, atleast you don't know what it's being like having your head hit and falling off the stairs." She says shaking her head.
I opened my mouth to response, but Sakina's eyes shifted on something behind me and then it hit me that my husband was seated right behind me and probably thinks we are some weird people needing therapy.
I clear my throat looking over my shoulder to Farhan, who had an eyebrow raised at me, "Farhan, my friend Sakina. Sakina, my husband." I introduce awkwardly.
"Nice to meet you." Sakina gives him a nod.
"You too." Farhan replies giving a nod.
It's weird how my friends never met my husband after months, well I barely had time meeting them- wait.
"What happened to Sania and safa where are they?" Panic seized me as I turned to look at Sakina
"Relax! Sania and safa are safe and uninjured. They both are send to their houses already." Sakina answers sipping her juice.
"Really? With whom?" My voice relived.
"With their family." she answers.
"Also they are save because your husband saved them." Sakina wiggling her brows at him.
Before I could say anything Farhan interjected,
"I think we should be heading home, it's almost eight."
I looked at him again and noticed bags under his eyes. Since when was he here? And did he really helped my friends? I have no idea if I should feel guilty or proud of him.
"Yeah, Sakina you coming with us right?" I ask her and she nods her head throwing away the empty juice box.
"My car is in basement parking anyways and I am too tired to drive by myself, I can pick it up tomorrow." she shrugs stepping out of the ambulance.
Farhan steps out and helps me get out as well,
"Here," he passes me my coat.
Thanking him we three walk towards the empty parking space at the back.
"Aren't the police going to enquire what happened?" I ask noticing the people lurking near the mall.
"Not needed, they got what they wanted." Farhan answers grabbing my elbow as I trip on a stone.
"So I don't need to give any statement or anything? Because I saw too much." I shudder reminiscing today's events.
"No need, they got the footage." Farhan assures? I spotted his car parked, quite wrong, Farhan is a really good driver and he parks smoothly. By the looks of the tires crossed across the parking lines, it looks like he parked in a hurry.
I glance at him, the dim lights of the streetlight melting the shadow of his jaw, his eyes straight ahead. He had his hand on my shoulder.
He came for me?
My heartbeat turned a little erratic when he looked down at me, raising an eyebrow. I shook my head and look away.
My gaze fell on a familiar grey sedan parked few parking besides Farhan's car, a man leaning against it, who had his back towards us.
That car looked quite familiar.
"Hey, Sakina look someone has same car as you." I turn my head to her and point at the car.
She follows my finger and stops in her tracks, her eyes narrowed.
"That's not someone's car that's MY car." she seethes speed walking towards it.
"He's definitely gonna die." I mutter watching my friend stomping her foot nearing the man and grabs him by his jacket, turning him around.
"What?" Sakina gasped and so did I, I was shocked to see the man was Dorok?
"Dorok?" Sakina sputters in disbelief, Dorok gives her a smile and leans her against her car,
"Hello, gorgeous." He winks at her.
hearing our steps getting closer, he looked over her shoulder and waved at me.
I felt Farhan tense beside me.
"Hey Ayesha." He nods at me, his eyes shift to Farhan and he raises his eyebrows.
"My husband." I gesture at him.
"Hey? Have we met somewhere before?" He frowns looking at him.
"No." Farhan replies flatly, I shove my elbow at him before giving Dorok a smile, who just shrugs nonchalantly.
"If you are done gaining knowledge. Answer my question, why are you here." Sakina asks snapping her fingers at Dorok.
"And how did my car get here?" Sakina wonders.
"I brought it." dorok raises his hand.
Oh No.
"How dare you touch my car! without my permission? and how did you get the keys." she enquires grabbing his jacket collar.
"It fell from your pocket when I picked you-" Dorok sputters, his face white in alarm.
"What do you mean by picked me?" Sakina shrieks fisting his collar.
"Maybe because you passed out and-" Dorok tried to reason out.
"But how dare you touch me without my permission!" She snarls with a murderous look on her face.
"Then what should I have done? wake you up and asked you for your permission? It was obvious you weren't going get up and flip me on my face." Dorok states grabbing her wrists.
"That doesn't-" I cut her off,
"Sakina, people are seeing, leave him please." I smile at her. She looks at me and the people at the footpath then at her hands fisting dorok's jacket, casually she drops her hand from his hold and flips her hair leaning on her car.
She takes a deep breath and glares at Dorok, "Give me my keys back." She demands.
Dorok scrunches his nose, "You can't drive alone."
"Yes I can't, I know. That's why I am leaving with them." She gestures at me and Farhan, who were leaning against Farhan's car. "Now give me my keys."
Dorok chuckled, "Right and wrong. I am driving you home."
"What are you? My chauffeur?" Sakina scoffs,
"For today, yes." Dorok agrees and rounds the car unlocking it and getting in the driver's seat.
Sakina looks at me with her mouth open as I climb in the passenger seat and wave at her after Farhan closes my door and rounds the car getting in the driver's seat and backing from the parking lot.
"What? I trust him with you." I call out, "görüÅürüz" [ see you.]
She stomps her feet and shows some indecent signs with her fingers. Before Farhan drive off the car, I caught a glimpse of Sakina getting in her car.
We were soon driving on the busy main roads of Ankara, when I looked at his direction and saw him concentrating on the road ahead, his eyes hard and unsettled. I follow my eyes from his face to his muscular arms, he had his sleeves rolled up, the veins even more prominent, he gripped the steering wheel tightly in his hands as if he is been thinking about the thing which makes him upset, his knuckles appear white as he kept increasing his hold.
The street lights from the road were shone on his hands as he drives by them, under those lights I notice the small cuts on his knuckles, it didn't looked big but definitely deep. I wince as I see him increasing his hold on the steering.
Unable to watch him do that I spoke,
"Don't do that."
He looked at me as if snapped out of his trance and he glanced at me then back at the road before asking,
"Don't do what?"
I moved forward catching my seat belt so I reach his hands and tapped on it,
"Your wounds will open, if you don't stop dou that." My fingers caress his knuckles airily, only the distance I can reach provided by the seat belt around me, his hands loosen it's grip and I slump back on my seat.
"Those aren't deep." he said after few moments.
"But it will if you keep applying pressure on it." I said and after that he merely gave me a glance before looking ahead.
I had so many things to ask him, say him, but nothing came on my tongue. Trying to break the eerie silence of the car I spoke,
"Sakina said you saved my friends, how?" I was really curious about it.
"She was exaggerating saying 'saved.' I just saw them kneeling behind a shop reception and showed them the exit." He takes a right turn, glancing at me, "I didn't even spoke, just pointed my hand towards the exit."
"Well, you still kind of helped them, and knowing Sania, she would be grateful for you for a lifetime." I sigh leaning my head on the backrest.
His phone rang silencing the tense atmosphere, he glanced at it and muted his phone.
"Who?" I ask tucking my feet up.
"My secretary in office." He exhales, "probably wanting to include what happened after I left office."
Seeing his phone, I sat upright and looked around me for my phone and purse. Only to remember they both are probably laying in a janitor's closet.
I slump back groaning under my breath, "I lost my phone." I sulk covering my face, "And my bag."
"I will get you a new one." I remove my hands from my face to look at my husband. "Your phone was damaged anyway. It's good you finally lost it."
"But I loved my phone." I whined.
He glanced at me again before shaking his head and stopping the car in front of a pharmacy. "It's okay, love another one."
He removes his seatbelt and picks up the prescription from the centre console, "I will be back. Stay here."
I watch him walking towards the pharmacy and entering it, leaving me to sulk alone. What a prick.
A helpful prick?
I exhale keeping my head on the window and close my eyes, my whole body was aching from being cramped up and exhaustion seeping through every pore.
I straight my legs out and looked around me, really missing my phone, atleast it helped me kill time.
My eyes landed on the steering wheel, seeing the company logo on it, it clicked me this was the car I used, when I went to meet-
My biggest mistake.
I stare ahead looking through the transparent doors of the store, my husband standing against the counter as the pharmacist read the prescription.
I also remember how he treated me after that, how he kept avoiding me in his house, how he didn't bother talk to me.
I could've easily shift to another room, but in hopes of caving in, and waiting for an opportunity to talk to him, about anything, I stayed.
I also remember how he childishly tricked me, making me worry for him, thinking something happened to him, and how he later tried to humiliate me in front of my parents and brother.
I didn't forget the night I spend crying, the breakdown. It wasn't entirely his fault, but he is a part of it.
And today, he came for me, but why? He could've easily left me to die for all he cared, but he didn't.
A confusing side of a closed off person, could be his vulnerable self. But how could I know when we barely interact.
We've been married for four months now, but we don't have conversations that last more than two minutes, the only time we conversed enough was when we fight.
From the start there has always been, accusations, miscommunication, misjudgment, and bipolar behaviour on our sides.
I couldn't help but think, are we ever going to solve it? Or is this how we live?
I didn't realised I was zoned out in my thoughts until I heard him opening the car door and getting in.
I glanced up at him as he buckled his seat belt after keeping the brown paper bag in the middle compartment.
Is it all of this just an act for him? What if tomorrow he isn't the same as today? What if goes back to the same cold self? Are we ever going to talk?
He placed his arm on the back of chair, but paused when he caught the look on my face,
"All good?" He mused.
Something tells me that the coldness in him was not from the start, it was inherited from somewhere between.
I licked my dry lips and looked ahead, "headache."
"I brought your meds, once we go back take them and sleep. Are you sure it is nothing else?" He asks reversing the car from the parking,
"I just want to go home." I replied gruffly, tearing my gaze away from him.
"We are going," he says looking ahead.
"To my moms place," I added, "I still have my stuff there and they must be worried."
It looked like he wanted to object but he agreed reluctantly, taking a u-turn.
After some time, we reached my house and Farhan parked his car in front of the gate, getting out first he rounded the car, but I opened before him and got out.
Farhan closed the door behind me, I took a step forward but immediately stopped as I felt the world around me sway for a second.
I felt two arms steadying me from behind, as I felt my body falling behind.
taking ahold of his arm around my waist, I tried to stand upright, "Shit, when was the last time you ate something?" Farhan asks gruffly, grabbing my face in his hand,
"Morning?" I remember briefly,
"Yeah, and just having tea doesn't count as breakfast." He scoffed muttering an 'idiot' under his breath.
"Are you able to walk or should I carry you inside?" He asks as I place my head on his shoulder needing something to lean on.
I snap my eyes wide open and stare at him, "No," I hissed, "My parents are there, you can't.....carry me." It would be super awkward, him holding me like this is enough to embarrass me and he's talking about carrying me. "And I am fine, I just lost my balance a bit."
He sighed, placing his hand on my shoulder and and other holding my hand as we walked inside the gate, "But I carried you out of the mall."
I stopped walking and looked at him wide eyed, the pounding in my head paused momentarily, "You carried me?" I whisper in shock and he shrugged, "Infront of everyone?" I blinked at him.
"Well, you passed out." He reasoned as we walked towards the porch, "It's quite logical, I think you and your friend needs to understand that." He shook his head ringing the bell,
I opened my mouth to answer him but the door immediately opened and my mom stood there with an worried expression and tears in her eyes,
I was scooped in an hug by my mother immediately, right on the door step, my hand slipped from Farhan's as my mother took me in her hold,
"I told you don't go, but did you listen me? No." she scolded me, holding my face.
"You got hurt, is it paining a lot?" She inspected my face.
"Did someone hit you?" She ask horrified,
"No, mom I fell." I said holding her wrists,
"Might've fallen due to your clumsiness," of course mom.
"Mom, can we get inside?" I ask leaning on the doorframe,
Mom looked over my shoulder to Farhan and immediately ushered us inside, removing my coat she made me sit on the couch of the living room,
I rested my head on the pillow as my eyes kept closing, from exhaustion. I really wanted to sleep.
"Hey, Ayesha, get up." Farhan took hold of arms and made me sit up, I briefly hear my mom saying to Farhan about making me drink glucose, and I felt a cold glass on my lips.
My parched throat relaxed as the cool liquid ran down my throat as I drank whatever it was greedily.
"Thanks mom," I mumble leaning back on my pillow, but this time my pillow felt a little hard.
"She wanted to hangout today." I hear her say before I felt a smack on my arm.
"Mum," I whined holding my arm, I opened my eyes to look at her, she gestured with her eyes to get up, looking wildly at my right, furrowing my brows I turn to my right and bolted upright, as I realised I was leaning my head Farhan's chest, in front of my mom.
Kill me.
I distanced myself from him and loosened my hijab, Farhan raised an eyebrow, dare I say mockingly.
I clear my throat awkwardly looking away from my mom, luckily she put me out of my misery,
"You got an IV on your palm?" She questions taking my hand in her,
"Yes mami, after she passed out." Farhan says.
"You passed out? As in you fainted?" My mom gasps sitting beside me holding my face,
"Mom I am fine-"
"And she said, she didn't ate anything all day." Farhan comments, I snap my head at him and glared him to shut up.
"Of course she didn't, eating popcorn and drinking tea doesn't give you energy, Uff what am I going to do with you." Mom sighs,
"Do you even know how worried I was for you, you weren't picking up your phone and it was already six, I tried calling your friends but everyone's phone went out of coverage."
"Thank god, Farhan called me before hand to inform about the mall incident and you are safe and bringing you home. Murat and your baba rushed to the police station, thinking you went missing, but no one took their report." Mom says and I look at Farhan,
"Exactly why is police so careless? There were no single police outside the mall, they all came after the press arrived." I frown,
"Some fuc-" Farhan glanced at mom and cleared his throat, "Some abominable system. Word of a higher authority is important than laws for them." He clenched his jaw looking away,
"True, your friends what happened to them? They are fine right?" Mom asks again,
"Yes they are, and they were send back to their home safely." I inform.
"Shukar khuda," she exhales but frowns looking at Farhan, "How did you know where was she?" Mom questioned him
Farhan sat up, brushing his hair back, "She called me, and I traced her phone location." oh, so he traced me.
"And I lost my phone and my bag," I sigh sadly,
"Say Alhumdulliah for everything, things come and go, thank god you came back safe and sound." Mom kissed my forehead patting my head,
A car honk was heard before footsteps rushed down the hall,
Murat walked in a deshielved state, his tie was hanging loosely around his neck, his sleeves rolled till his elbows and his black hair looked like a mess as if he ran his hand many times, I stood up from my seat as he approached me, his eyes roaming on my face.
"Kaha Kaha nahi dhonda tumhe," he exclaimed and pulled me into a hug. [ We tried to find you everywhere.]
He pulled back and looked at my face, "All good?" I nod, "You are not injured right?"
I chuckle patting his cheek, "Yes, Murat totally fine and uninjured."
"Is she here?" I heard the authoritative voice of baba, murat stepped on my side, I saw baba standing near the doorframe of the living room.
"Yes, Alhumdulliah. She came back safe and sound. Come and ask yourself," mom told baba,
He looked at me for few minutes I thought he was gonna say something but he just kept looking at me, his eyes held millions of questions but his ego didn't allow him to ask.
What's an ego between a father and daughter?
"Farhan came on time and saved her," mom added,
Murat thanked Farhan while he just nodded all the while my gaze was on baba who was staring at Farhan, in distaste?
No actually more likely glaring him? But why isn't farhan is his favourite or something?
Baba gave a nod and abruptly left the living room, and went to his room and made sure to slam his door,
"Did I do something?" I asked mom and she shook her head assuringly.
"I swear, he was so worried in police station enquiring about you, and he was so angry when no one took our report, we say your name and they ran away," Murat says gesturing to Farhan.
"They did now, did they?" Farhan asked leaning against the wall,
"Yes, weird fuck-" he stopped and looked up at mom with wide eyes, he gulped before completing, "Deficient, unethical police, I tell you man." He shook his head and Farhan nodded in understanding.
"Okay, leave all of this, let's be grateful that Ayesha is back and forget this awful day, Farhan and Ayesha, fresh up, I am setting up the dinner table." Mom says to all of us,
"Actually I was thinking to go back to our place, mami." Farhan says straightening up.
My mom looked at me and then at Farhan before saying, "Um Farhan bete, let her stay for the night, in fact even you stay here. Yes you also stay here." mom offered smiling excitedly, Murat agreed looking at Farhan,
"Yes and," we all glanced at the window to see rain drops hitting the ground and increasing the passing minute, "It is a heavy rainfall warning tonight, so stay the night." Murat asks Farhan,
Farhan looked at me with questioning eyes and I nodded reluctantly, "Fine." He agrees.
"Great, let me go prepare dinner," mama chuckles and walks out of the living room and I trail behind her,
"They both act like I didn't knew what they were about to say," mama chuckles as she sets extra plate on the table.
"Men," I sigh looking at the raining pouring on the glass rooftop of the inner courtyard, jojo was screaming in delight in his cage.
"Mum can I get your phone? I need to call my friends," I ask her and she nods towards the side table, grabbing her phone, I go upstairs to my room and change out of my clothes, seeing the dust and stains on my skirt, it only made me nauseous thinking about that mall.
Catching my reflection on the mirror, I ran my finger over the gash on my cheekbone, definitely when I fell down. And my guess is it will take time to recover.
Shaking my head, I free my hair letting it fall on my back, before grabbing my mom's phone and cringing right away on the brightness.
Lowering it, I opened the call log and made a call to both Safa and Sania knowing my my mom has everyone's number.
I called both safa and sania to make sure they were okay. they both assured me they were fine and was asking about me, I narrated my whole incident about me and sania told me how Farhan saved them she expressed her gratitude to Farhan and told me to say thank you to Farhan from herself,
After calling them, I called Sakina who picked up the call after three rings,
"Why are you calling me on aunty's phone?" She asks as soon as she picks up.
"Because I lost mine? And you however recognised it's me," I say,
"Have you reached?" We both spoke at the same time making our voice come as a echo,
We both chuckled,
"Yes I have reached like an hour ago, what about you still fighting with dorok?"
"I have reached like twenty minutes ago and came to my room and directly called you after the family drama, and about that jerk, I let him drive because it's not bad to hire a driver,"she snickers,
"Rude, he saved you." I gasp.
"Hmm," she hummed mockingly,
"Did you thanked him?" I asked knowing she didn't.
"Umm," so a no.
"Sakina!"
"Okay fine. I will do it tomorrow I am tired so I will sleep after having some delicious pasta what about you?"
"Still at mom's place and my mom somehow convinced Farhan to stay and now she is making dinner for all of us," I say picking my nails.
"Someone looks grouchy? Had a fight or something, come on you know Farhan was so caring with you today, he was so careful and alert around you, and I was like..too cute to be true, I totally ship you guys! Cuties!" She went silent for few seconds
Oh no. I know what is coming up,
"Oh my god. I ship hashtag, Ayerhan!" She screamed in my ear and I moved my phone away from my ear,
"What? Ayerhan? Seriously? Sakina you definitely need some sleep." I scoffed.
"And you do too.." she paused, "With your husband, bye!" she hung up and I felt my cheeks growing warm as blood rushed to it,
"Even your friends think I am caring except you," I heard his voice and I jumped from my place clutching my chest.
There he was, leaning against door frame,
When did he even came here?
"Were you listening to me all the while?" I enquired raising an eyebrow.
"Maybe? I heard from the part were your friend was all praising me." blood rushed to my cheeks in embarrassment and I knew he even heard the sleeping part.
I clear my throat "What are you still doing here?"
"Mami told to call you downstairs for dinner," he tilts his head and I nod my head grabbing my duppata before going downstairs with him.
Baba didn't spoke anything throughout the whole dinner and I have no idea weather I was overthinking or something but baba seemed like he didn't liked Farhan's presence at all. By years not hearing his words, I can understand his body language.
Wierd. I know but I might be overthinking or the exhaustion was taking toll on me.
After having dinner all of us sat for a while and then finally after eleven, we all departed to respective rooms, I was so not looking to this.
I went back to my room and prayed my salah and took out the extra mattress from my closet and laid down it near my bed, I was arranging a bed sheet on the mattress when Farhan came out of the washroom,
"What are you doing?" I heard him asking as his footsteps near me.
"My sleeping arrangement, I don't have couch like you do in my room, so I am sleeping here and it's obvious we can't share the bed." I gestured at my queen sized bed, which was half filled with my pillows.
Farhan rubbed the scruff on his jaw looking at the bed, "It's okay you sleep on the bed, I will take the floor, you are not well." he says taking the pillow from my hand.
"But you are not used to sleep on the floor." I reasoned snatching the pillow back,
"Neither are you," he says taking the pillow out of my grasp and laying down on the mattress.
"Sleep, you had a long day." He mutters putting his arm on his eyes,
Reluctantly I laid down on my bed, switching off the lamp lights. "Good night then," I brought my blanket to my chin, "My offer still stands."
"Shut up." He says turning his back on me.
I sighed looking at the ceiling.
**
It's two in the morning and I can't sleep, the soft swoosh of the heater, the ticking of clock, along the sound of sheets rustling was heard,
I peeked down to see Farhan constantly changing his sides but still can't sleep. He's been doing this for the past three hours but still can't sleep and neither can I.
I let out a breath before saying, "Farhan?"
He removes the comforter off his face and raises an eyebrow, "Why are you still awake?"
"So are you." I open the lamp light, "You are too stubborn aren't you," he sits up raking a hand through his hair,
I start throwing my pillows on the ground and few hit him too, "Get in," I slide away making space for him.
"It's alright, I am sleeping here-" I cut him off,
"Clearly not." I mutter laying down, I grabbed few pillows and placed it between me, "See this wall is here too."
"Now get here, before I change my mind." I remind him.
Six seconds in, he got up and laid down next to me, "Your bed doesn't seem big enough for this wall." He mused turning off the lamp.
"You rather take it off?" I reply drowsily, the painkillers were finally acting up.
"Huh? No." Am I drowsy or did he sound shocked.
"Then sleep Farhan." I mumble tucking my comforter under my chin.
Later that night, I felt the space between us lessen, and the constricted space of pillow wall decrease.
I also felt the wound on cheekbone being caress, and my hair being tucked back.
Yes, the painkillers were finally kicking in, that's all.
