âIs there nothing else but a demon on this fucking island?! We have been fighting for hours and they seem to be endless of them,â Sven said as he caught his breath and rested his scythe on his shoulder. He looked at dozens of demons he had killed on his own on the right side.
Jeanne, Agnez, and Nagy with the lordâs knights were dealing with hordes of demons on their own at the frontline. Asmond and his team were dealing with the demons on the backline while Barika and Brynhilde were protecting the left side.
Another hour had passed and they finally dealt with all the demons, and no more demons came out from behind the rocky hills. Everyone decided to rest but not Agnez and Jeanne since they werenât tired yet.
Jeanne went up the right hill with the lordâs knights to check if there were any demons left. She turned around and heard the lordâs knights breathe so heavily.
âYou guys can rest, I can handle this on my own,â Jeanne said with a smile on her face.
âBut Princess, our duty is to fight alongside you and we wonât rest until we finish our duty,â One of the lordâs knights replied.
âThe battle isnât even started yet, and this is nothing for me but not for you guys. Reserve your stamina for later, and thatâs an order,â Jeanne said with a serious expression. She then started to feel bad for saying that.
All the lordâs knights looked at each other with doubt on their faces.
âYou can watch me from up here and come to me if I need your help. Howâs that? Good enough?â Jeanne asked with her eyebrows raised.
âIf thatâs what Princess Jeanne order, we will obey,â The lordâs knights answered.
Jeanne smiled and nodded. She then walked to the other side of the hill with the lordâs knights watching over her in the distance.
Agnez was standing on top of the left hill with the sword in her right hand and her left hand resting on her waist. She stared at demons who were trying to hide from her because of the oozing Mazikeenâs presence that terrified them.
âDo you want me to kill them or do you want to consume them?â Agnez talked to herself.
âIâm not in the mood. You can do whatever you want with them,â Mazikeenâs voice could be heard inside Agnezâs head. âAnyway, thereâs a demon that you might want to kill over there. Thereâs a lich hiding all the way back there. Itâs the one who sends demons here,â
âAlright, death it is then,â Agnez said as she slid down the hill.
Asmond and his team looked at the hills in disbelief.
âDo they have infinite stamina or something? I canât believe those two are still trying to hunt the demons after five hours of fighting hordes of demons,â Glen said as he sat down and caught his breath.
âThey both are currently the best Awakeners in our world. You should know about it already when the second breakout happened. Both Agnez and Jeanne soloed and defeated the demons,â Silas replied as he sheathed his long sword. âWhatâs more shocking is that Jeanne is actually a princess from another world. How is that even possible though?â
âDidnât you listen to what Miss Alberta said back there? It has something to do with their ancestor, Aersland. Theyâre like some kind of demi-god or something if they have the ability to move to a different world at will,â Roxanne answered as she sharpened the blade of her sword.
While they were talking about Jeanne, they heard a loud roaring sound from the right hill. All of them stood up and readied their weapons as they stared at the hill, but then the roar stopped and a loud thud sound could be heard from behind the hill.
The lordâs knights were just standing on top of the hill watching in awestruck. Something flew away and it rolled down the hill until it stopped right in front of the group. It was a head with long two horns, no eyes, no nose, but it had a giant mouth with sharp teeth.
Jeanne appeared from behind the hill with her body covered in a demonâs blood. She wiped her nose with her forearm as she stared down at the demonâs head.
âI found the source of our trouble,â Jeanne said as she walked down the hill with the lordâs knights.
âNice, does that mean we can rest at ease now?â Gunnar asked as he stared at the head from up close.
âI hope so,â Jeanne answered as she looked for a piece of cloth that she could use to clean her face from the blood.
Mykel approached her and gave her his handkerchief. âLooks like Agnez also found one,â Mykel said as he stared at the hill on the left.
Everyone looked at the top of the hill and saw Agnez casually walking down the hill.
âAll clear, there wonât be any more demons,â Agnez said as she sheathed her sword.
âSo, does that mean we can stay here for the night?â Gunnar asked.
âYeah, letâs do that,â Agnez answered as she stared at the people from Aersland who were drawing them in the distance. âI usually hate the attention, but I think this one is fine,â
Mykel looked at them and they were so focused on drawing them on the paper while some of them were writing the things that had happened to make a story out of it.
âYou guys will be in a fairytale. The adults will tell your story to their children in Aersland for centuries,â Mykel said.
âThat somehow makes me so excited so suddenly,â Sven said as he leaned on the head of the demon.
âI think we all can agree whereâs our destination, right? That tower over there is like inviting us to go there,â Vincze said as he stared at the tower in the far distance.
âAlright, let me check how far the tower is,â Rozan said as he prepared to fly.
âDonât,â Mykel stared Rozan in the eye.
Everyone looked at Mykel with a puzzled look, but Rozan listened to his word and lowered his staff.
âWe have been watched ever since we entered Gehenna. Right now, theyâre up there behind the clouds,â Mykel said as he stared at the sky. âDonât try to think of fighting them, they can easily kill all of you in an instant,â
âIf thatâs the case, why donât you kill them, boss? Arenât you bored doing nothing?â Gunnar asked with his arms crossed.
âItâs not that simple. I did make a deal with him, and I donât want to breach the deal we agreed on,â Mykel answered. âAnyway, just rest up for now,â Mykel said as he walked away.
Agnez and the others made themselves comfortable with Barika and his team. Asmond was having quality time with his team on the other side while Brynhilde and her team were busy depicting Jeanne.
They all glanced at Mykel who walked further back on his own. They were curious about where he was going, but nobody wanted to approach him since he was oozing an aura where he didnât want to be disturbed.
Mykel went up the rocky hill further away from the rest, and then he stared at the sky while he was smoking his cigarette. Suddenly something descended right behind him with a single wing on its back.
âDidnât you say that you wanted a truce? Then why are you here in Gehenna?â Lucielâs voice was so calming and soothing to Mykelâs ears.
âThe truce is just between me and your father. Theyâre here because they wanted to prevent the demon invasion and protect their worlds,â Mykel answered as he puffed the smoke and didnât bother to look back. âIâm here just to watch, thatâs all. I can promise you that,â Mykel continued as he kept staring at the sky.
âDidnât your father warn you to not get too close to me?â Mykel asked as he turned around to look at Luciel.
âHe did,â Luciel replied.
âYou should listen to your father,â Mykel said as he stared Luciel in the eye. âBut Iâm a man with my words, so Iâm not going to do anything to you,â
Luciel furrowed her eyebrows a bit and stared Mykel in the eye.
âAnyway, Iâm here to ask you a favor,â Mykel said as he flicked the butt of his cigarette. âCan you tell the demon kings to stop watching us? Itâs getting really uncomfortable,â
