Tempted by her Daddies: Chapter 8
Tempted by her Daddies (Harem of Daddies Book 6)
âSalem? Is everything all right?â Ryiadâs voice came through the phone.
âYeah, everything is fine. Well, sort of.â Heâd been putting off making this call to Ryiad, one of Alinaâs men. But Riordan had already asked him twice about it.
So he had to at least make the call.
âWhat is it? Can you not convince your mum to come to the wedding?â
âIâm working on that,â he told him. âNo, this is a work matter. Itâs about Pinky.â
âStill no luck, huh?â Ryiad said in a dark voice.
âNo. And my boss is pushing me to ask you if we can set a trap for him. Pinky seems to have it out for you guys since you thwarted his plans to get a hold into Escana using Jeric.â
Ryiad was silent, then he sighed. âI want to help you get him, Salem. But . . .â
âNo, I get it. I said I would ask, but I never expected you to agree.â
âWhat sort of trap?â Ryiad asked.
âIâm not sure. I donât think Riordanâs got that far. He just wants to know if you are open to the idea.â
âHmm. Let me talk to my brothers and cousins.â
âThanks. I donât expect you to do anything and I wouldnât ask, but I need to find this bastard.â
âI get it,â Ryiad said grimly. âHeâs been a problem for too long. I am glad you called; we have been getting news reports about all of the unrest in Ireland.â
âAhh, yeah, itâs becoming concerning.â
âAnd seems to be helping OâConnorâs popularity.â
âYou know him?â Salem asked, surprised.
âNo, but my uncles do. They went to University together. Stirring up trouble, even back then. He had conservative views in public but was completely different behind closed doors. There were a couple of women who accused him of sexual assault, but they were silenced.â
âWhat? Seriously?â That wasnât good and something that should really be passed on.
âYes. Jonan has been doing some research into him, but weâve come up with nothing incriminating. I just thought it was worth mentioning.â
Shit.
He glanced at the time and saw it was well after nine. Had Tamsyn arrived? He hadnât heard her.
âIâve got to go. Talk to you later and Iâll work on mum.â
âI appreciate that. It is upsetting Alina.â
Something that wasnât allowed.
He got it.
âBrr, itâs so cold out there.â
Salem held the door open as Tamsyn stepped inside.
He hadnât been pacing by the front door, wondering where on earth she was.
Nope. That would be a ridiculous waste of time.
âItâs only seven degrees out there,â he snapped.
âYep. Like I said, super cold.â
âAnd youâre wearing a hoodie.â
A black hoodie. All heâd ever seen her wear was black and it really didnât seem to suit her personality. She kept recycling the same clothes and he was starting to worry about why that was.
âYep. I am.â
âWhere is your coat?â
âHmm?â she asked as she tried to step by him.
âI didnât give you permission to leave and you havenât answered my question, young lady.â
Urgh. Really?
Permission to leave?
Young lady?
Could he sound any more like a dick?
âPermission to leave? I need permission to leave?â She sounded kind of breathless.
Or was he reading too much into this?
âI apologize,â he said stiffly. âI shouldnât have said that.â
âYou apologize a lot,â she told him.
âAround you, I seem to. Where is your coat?â
âI donât know. I seem to have misplaced it.â
âHow do you misplace a coat?â
âSee . . . there was this old homeless lady outside my apartment and she looked so cold.â
âI get it,â he said quietly. âYou gave her your coat?â
âYes.â
âAnd you donât have another one.â
âNo.â
âSo how were you expecting to keep warm as the weather grows colder?â
âWell, I was going to roller skate, but Rome said I couldnât do that anymore. Especially without safety gear. Although he said he was going to put some mats out on the tennis court so I could practice. With the correct safety gear.â
âYou were roller skating without safety gear?â he cried. âDo you know how dangerous that is?â
âAhh. Rome pointed that out, yes.â
Good. That was good.
Pick your battles.
âYou shouldnât walk around without a coat, youâll get ill. Also, I would appreciate it, if you are going to be late, you would let me know.â
âRight. Sorry. My bad.â
Silence fell between them.
âDo I have permission to leave now?â
He was definitely losing the plot. And this girl was the problem.
âYes.â
âPerfect. GGC!â
GGC?
Would he ever understand her?
âYouâre leaving?â Salem stepped out of the kitchen as he heard Tamsyn in the entrance later that day.
âYep. Rome just finished the last chapter of our book.â
He raised his eyebrows. âOur book?â
âWell, his book. But he reads it to me. We just finished it.â
âWhat was the book?â he asked in a low voice, knowing what Roman liked to read.
âItâs called Three Daddies for Teresa. Have you read it? Itâs excellent. By CJ Bennett.â
âI havenât. You enjoy books about ageplay?â he asked.
Could she be a Little?
There were some clues that pointed to it. But it was hard to tell.
âWell, I havenât read any before, but I like this one. How do you know if youâre a Caregiver or a Little?â
âYouâre definitely not a Caregiver,â he told her bluntly.
âIâm not?â
âNo, Little one.â
Oops. Was that a slip of the tongue or on purpose? He wasnât quite sure. But he noticed how her lips parted and a pleased flush filled her cheeks.
Similar to when he called her Pet.
This was getting more and more interesting.
âHere.â He thrust the coat he held at her. It was beige-colored and made from a mix of wool and cashmere. It cost an absolute bomb, but it would keep her warm. âIn the pockets are a hat and gloves. Wear them. And no giving them away.â
âThis is . . . itâs for me?â she asked, looking at him in amazement.
âYes. Work bonus for a good job done,â he lied.
Because she really was a shit cleaner.
