Chapter 36: Chapter 36

Jealousy KillsWords: 9872

Camille

It has been two days and I am freaking out! I have not heard from Josiah, nothing from Charlie, and the guards know nothing? At this point I'm not even sure of what to do.

I could try to snoop? The guards would probably stop me.

Losing the guards doesn't seem like a simple task.

Unless...

I run up to my bedroom and call Rosa, "Text me something that will look like it's from Josiah to get the guards off my back."

"Huh? Why?"

"I just really need you to do it, I'll explain soon."

She sighs, "Don't make me regret this."

My phone beeps after she hangs up, notifying me that I have a text message. I change her contact name to Josiah and read the message. "Inform the guards to drop you off at the apartment. From there you should no longer be under their watch. Something urgent is happening and I need to hide you. I'll try to talk to you soon babe, love you."

Wow, she put a lot of thought into that one. And incorporated me being brought back to the apartment, probably expecting answers from me. Gotta love Rosa.

I walk out to the front door and alert the guards with the message, "Josiah just sent me this, is everything okay?" I pretend to seem scared, knowing damn well the message is fake. The first guard reads over the message carefully, "Why weren't we alerted by him personally."

I shrug, "I don't know, is that what he usually does? The message says urgent." The guard starts contemplating, unsure of what to do. "You will stay here until we get word from Josiah."

I frown, "This is the only thing I've heard from Josiah in two days, and I know you haven't heard anything because I ask every minute!"

The guard crosses his arms, "Until I can verify the message from either Charlie or any other higher up you will remain here."

"And what if there's an attack on its way right now?"

"Then I will protect you, that is my job after all."

Damn this guy is hard to get through.

"Alright, I guess if I die Josiah will know exactly who to blame for not escorting me out of this house." The guard begins contemplating again, "Fine, I'll escort you back to the apartment personally. But I'm not leaving."

"Someone doesn't know how to follow instructions." I mumble. I grab my bag and follow the guard out of the house. He opens the car door for me before getting into the drivers seat himself. I was actually very familiar with this guard, he was always outside the door and surveying the premises. He was the head guard and his name was Thomas. So you could say I was pretty used to his presence. He didn't talk too much, only when I asked him things.

Thomas drives us over to my old apartment and parks behind the building. He begins getting out of the car when I stop him. "You're coming up with me too? Wouldn't it be a better idea if you watched out here?" He furrows his brows at me, "I suppose I can briefly."

I smile at him before heading up the stairs to my apartment. I wave at him from above before walking through the door. Rosa is the first face I see, "Camille what is going on?"

"I just needed to get away from the guards a bit that's all." I didn't want to tell her my plan, knowing she would stop me. "Wheres Mitchie?" I ask trying to change the subject.

"She's had something to do, why are you avoiding the guards? Where's Josiah?"

I sigh, "He's busy, I just wanted to chill for a bit."

She gives me a look telling me she's unconvinced, but she nods her head anyway. I head over to the window trying to figure out where the guard is. I needed to get to the club to see if Josiah might be there, or at least Charlie. But first I gotta lose Rosa.

"So how's everything been?" Rosa asks from the kitchen. I shrug, "Its been alright, nothing major."

That was a huge lie.

I didn't want to tell her what was going on or my plans because for one, I know she'll stop me. And I just don't want her getting involved, especially if it gets dangerous.

"Josiah treating you well?"

I smile, "Perfectly. What about you Rosa? How are things?"

She shrugs, "Pretty boring to be honest. Just work all the time. I need something exciting to happen, something new." Her phone begins to ring, "Give me a second." She takes the phone call and heads to her bedroom.

Is this my chance? That's so rude to leave mid conversation. I grab a sticky note and a pen and leave a quick note before sneaking out the door. The guard thankfully wasn't in my proximity and didn't see me leave the apartment. I exit the complex from a back gate that leads to the main road. I order an Uber and head straight to the club.

I was very nervous when I got out from the Uber and the giant building which was the club stared back at me. It was pretty empty except for the few workers you can see prepping inside. It was mid afternoon so the club wasn't open yet. Maybe I could sneak through the back again? Or maybe go straight to the front and ask if he's here? With pepper spray and taser in hand I decide the back is a better choice. If I'm caught I'll be taken to Josiah or Charlie anyway. And if I'm not caught I'll find them myself.

I stroll around toward the back casually until I find a door about to shut. I quickly slid in as it closes and find myself in the back of the club.

A deep voice suddenly rumbles behind me, "Can I help you?" I turn around slowly with a small smile. "Hi! Yes I'm looking for Big Jo? Is he in right now?"

He shakes his head, "No one is allowed to see him at the moment. I'm gonna have to ask you to leave."

I pout, "Please? I just needed to get my favorite sweater from his office. Can you get it for me then?"

"There's no proof you have any relations with him, I'm still asking you to leave."

I frown, "I am Camille Ali. His girlfriend, kind of. And I do have proof!" I pull out my phone and show a picture of us together. "See!"

He shrugs, "Then call him yourself."

"Don't you think I've tried that? He's not picking up, I just want my sweater so please go up there and check for it or I will."

The guard raises an eyebrow at me before realizing I'm serious. He sighs in annoyance before turning around to talk into his walkie talkie. I used this as my opportunity to slip down the hallway next to me. Which is probably not such a great idea since I don't know where it leads. I smirk as I lose sight of the guard, Josiah needs to higher better ones.

After a couple of turns I reach the end of the hallway, where a door stands by it self. Suddenly I hear voices coming from the opposite direction and decide to hide, my only option being the door. And instead of the door leading to a closet or something that won't cause me to fall over, I am immediately greeted by hard stairs. Thankfully the staircase was short and I didn't suffer any serious damage, but that shit hurt.

I look up to see where I was now, it just looked like a basement. I looked around it seemed as though no one was here. There were some boxes of toilet paper and napkins and other stuff the club would need. A couple of storage containers as well but nothing strange. I noticed a framed photo on the wall in the corner. It was of a beautiful looking woman, with eyes similar to Josiah. She must be his mother. I walked closer to get a better view of the photo, but because of my height I couldn't see much. I reached up to remove the photo to get a better look, when I suddenly heard a clicking noise. The wall next to me suddenly opened up slowly, just enough for me to get in.

I thought for a moment if I should enter the mysterious room behind the wall. In horror movies this usually leads to the stupid characters death or discovery of the movies monster. My curiosity got the better of me and I entered the entry way in the wall. There was a short hallway before I came across a very familiar setting. This looked a lot like where Josiahs men had brought me during our first encounter. Nobody was in the room except for some furniture. I noticed the storage closet I hid in last time and realized this was the same room.

Suddenly I began to hear voices on the other side of the room where the other door was. I quickly hid in the closet again and shut my mouth. About 4 men entered the room, dragging two brutally beat men with them. Behind them walked in Josiah, looking very tired but still extremely handsome.

I felt my heart beating against my chest when I noticed the blood on his knuckles as well as the gun in his hand.

"You gonna tell me what I wanna know now?" He finally spoke.

One of the men looked up at him, and Josiah socked him in the face with his fist. "Don't ever look directly at me, answer my question."

The man spit out blood before responding, "I told you we don't know anything."

Josiah clocks his gun, and aims it at the other man. "So you want me to kill your brother then huh?" The other man widens his eyes but stays silent. The first man shakes his head, "No please! He has nothing to do with this. Take me and leave him!"

Josiah hits him again, but this time in the head with his gun. "The fuck I look like taking directions from you?"

Josiah's eyes were dark and mean when he squatted down to the mans level and pointed the gun to his brothers head. "You have till the count of three before I let this bullet pierce your brothers mother fûcking skull."

The mans eyes begin to water. But Josiah doesn't seem to care.

"one."

The man says nothing.

"two."

Silent, I hold my breath.

"three."

"No!"

I scream as I see the mans lifeless body drop to the ground. Josiah turns to the closet, and the guards aim their guns at my hiding place.

He opens the closet door angrily with his bloodied fists pointing his gun at me. His eyes dark and lifeless, nothing like the ones I know. His shirt stained with fresh blood from the man he just killed. A few drops landed on his face as well.

His eyes immediately soften when they meet my teary eyes. He lowers his gun in confusion.

"Camille?"
