Trouble

Three. The Perfect Number

MADISON

Kneeling between her legs, so close that she could feel his breath on her skin, was Ethan.

His green eyes had never looked so dark.

Without saying a word to her or his brother, he moved his hands to her legs and eased them apart, then crawled on top of her as Levi pinned her to the bed and ravaged the sensitive skin of her neck.

Moaning, Madison closed her eyes and gave in to the pleasure building up in her lower abdomen.

But before bliss could fully embrace her, a loud clanging sound—~pots and pans?~—from the kitchen made her jump.

Her eyes flew open, and with a foggy mind, she looked frantically around the room.

She was alone~.~

~It was just a dream~.

The pounding of her heart and the wetness between her legs was real though.

So, unfortunately, was her disappointment.

Under the covers, she slipped her hand down her body, over her flat stomach, slowly reaching for her aching core.

She pressed two fingers against the fabric of her panties and slid her fingers up and down her folds, then let her body take control.

The friction between her legs seemed to grow, until she couldn’t wait anymore and reached for her clit. The heat that rose in her chest was almost unbearable. She sped up her movement and increased the pressure.

Needing more, she edged her fingers down her folds to tease her tight and still-untouched entrance.

As she eased a finger inside, one thought occupied her: ~What would a man feel like?~

And right on the heels of that, her mind whispered, ~And what about ~two~ men?~

She moaned at the thought, and her finger worked faster. Her breath shortened, and her body shook. A jolt of electricity stronger than ever before hit her.

Her back arched as her pleasure took over, until finally, she let out a long breath and withdrew her hand.

She lay there a few minutes, her cheeks hot and nipples still hard, enjoying the afterglow and trying not to feel too weird about her unexpectedly dirty dream.

When she finally rolled to her side and turned on her phone, she saw that it was only 7 a.m. And that she had five missed calls from Daniel.

She groaned and opened her texts.

Daniel

Madison, please, don’t give me the silent treatment. I made a mistake, it was a moment of weakness. Please talk to me, baby.

Daniel

Christ! Answer me!

Daniel

Babe…where are you? Let me come and see you. I promise I can make it up to you.

Daniel

Are you at your brother’s place?

Daniel

Remember the night you told me about your town’s beaches and family traditions? I can’t wait to see it. Please answer me…

Well, that was a mood-killer.

Maybe she hadn’t been madly in love with Daniel, but did he really think she could just forgive something like that?

After a quick shower, she slipped on a new pair of panties and a pajama top, then peeked her head out of her room. Both her brothers’ doors were wide open, telling her they were gone already.

“Coffee, where are you?” she called.

In the kitchen she made herself a cup and turned toward the window and door that opened to the outside.

She’d missed the way the morning light crept over the backyard and the good and peaceful feeling it gave her.

As she leaned against the kitchen counter, sipping her coffee and watching the yard brighten, her mind drifted back to her dream.

She pressed her legs together, allowing a hint of pleasure to embrace her once more.

~Cough.~

Her eyes flew open, and she whirled to see who was there.

A knot formed in her stomach when she saw Ethan on the other side of the island, and she felt her cheeks heat up again.

“Good morning, Mad.” He walked toward her. “You okay?”

As he came closer, she took a good look at him.

The fitted white shirt he was wearing hugged his muscles to the point that she could easily picture the body underneath.

His longish dark brown hair was messy, and his beard was slightly scruffier than yesterday, giving him a sexily disheveled look.

And she couldn’t help but notice how his tight shorts hugged his hips and emphasized his—

She looked away quickly, but when he smirked, she knew she’d been caught checking him out. Again.

“Uh-huh. All good,” she mumbled, then took another sip of coffee, trying to play it cool.

He moved closer, almost towering over her as he reached for a coffee mug.

That close, she could feel his body heat and hear his breath echo in her ear. And when he moved even closer, she swallowed hard, suddenly remembering that she was half-naked.

“Fuck,” she cursed through gritted teeth.

Ethan pulled away, and his eyes immediately dropped to her bare legs, then quickly scanned the rest of her figure before returning to her face.

“What are you doing here?” she asked, trying to sound casual, but she knew her bright red cheeks were probably giving her away.

And the way he continued to stare pointedly at her while he poured his coffee certainly didn’t help her—or her hormones.

“Liam forgot his gym bag and asked me to swing by and get it for him.” He lifted his mug to his lips, eyes still on hers. “But when I said yes, I didn’t know I’d also be getting a free show.”

He chuckled, and Madison clenched her fists out of habit. His cocky attitude used to piss her off, but right now she was almost…amused by it.

“Idiot. If I knew you were here, I would have put something on. Not that I care, since this is ~my~ house. You, on the other hand, should learn how to knock before coming in.”

“I did. No one answered. Besides, after the way you passed out last night, we thought you’d be asleep for a while.” He arched his eyebrows. “Anyway…who do you think put you to bed? Nice panties, by the way.”

Madison almost choked on her coffee. She should be mad, she knew, but she wasn’t.

~Why can’t I shake off this feeling? Why can’t I stop staring back at him?~

Out loud she said, “Oh, right. So should I be relieved then that you’ve already seen me half-naked?”

Ethan’s soft laugh made her smile in spite of herself.

“Come on…don’t be mad,” he crooned, his eyes twinkling. “I promise we didn’t look. Just like when we used to change your diapers.”

She made herself turn away to hide the smile that she couldn’t seem to suppress. “You guys are going to drive me crazy.”

Seriously, they were only seven or eight when she was in diapers, and as neglectful as her parents had been, somehow she doubted the twins had been recruited for ~that ~job.

“Oh, you can count on it,” he said with a grin.

Then, bending over a little, he kissed her softly on the forehead before leaving.

It didn’t take Madison long to finish her coffee once Ethan left the kitchen, but the weird feeling stuck with her. She just couldn’t keep her mind from wandering to that naughty dream.

How would it feel to have their hands on her body?

What would their lips taste like?

Those were pointless questions though, since she was never going to find out.

Back in her room, she threw on some gym clothes. She didn’t plan to start working with her brothers for at least a few weeks, but maybe some exercise would clear her mind.

With her sports bag in hand and her earbuds connected, she began the twenty-minute walk to the Davis Boxing flagship gym.

She was actually looking forward to being in it again. Despite it being started by—and named after—her boxer father, Nikolaj “Nick” Davis, he’d handed it off to her brothers when she was still young, and the place held a lot of happy memories for her.

When she arrived, Madison turned off her music and strode inside, key card in hand. A blonde girl at the reception desk scanned her from head to toe.

“Can I help you?”

Madison waved her silver gym pass. “Good morning. Um, no. I’m good, thanks. Just here to work out.”

She kept her smile bright. She hadn’t been around for a while, so it made sense that there would be new people who didn’t know her.

The blonde’s eyes narrowed. “I don’t think so. You can use that pass for the ~other~ gyms in this chain, but this one is for gold members only. And you, darling, are definitely not a gold member.”

Madison’s lips twitched. She should probably come clean before the blonde dug herself any deeper, but the girl was just so ~snooty~. “And you know this how?”

“To start with, I’ve never seen you here. And…well, look at you. You surely don’t ~look~ like a gold member.”

“I see. So my appearance disqualifies me? I suggest you do your homework better next time, ~darling.~”

Madison walked toward the gate, giving the receptionist one last bright smile, but the blonde lunged at her and grabbed her wrist.

“Who do you think you are?” the girl hissed.

Madison stopped and blinked. “A customer? Look, I’m just trying to go in and work out, but you’re harassing me. Should I speak with the owners? I mean, what kind of place is this?”

Before the frazzled woman could answer, a familiar male voice boomed behind them.

“Madison! You’ve been back less than twenty-four hours, and you’re already stirring up trouble?”

Her brother’s pretend exasperation made her grin—and the receptionist freeze.

And when Ezra pulled Madison in for a hug and kissed her forehead, the shock on the blonde’s face was priceless.

“Alice, this is Madison ~Davis~,” he said firmly, giving the woman a hard stare. “My sister. And your future boss.”
