Chapter 29

Island

Three. The Perfect Number

MADISON

“So, this is the front garden,” Levi began. “As you can see, you can go to the beach from here. Or…”

They walked through the garden and followed a white stone path around the house, and when they reached the other side, Madison was speechless.

The vista opened up in front of her, framed by the greenery of bushes and trees, and she could see down to the beach on the other side of the island.

By the house there was an outdoor kitchen, a natural shower underneath a tree, teak lounge chairs with cream cushions, a hammock, and a natural pool outlined with beautiful dark stone.

And behind a curtain of hanging plants, there was a firepit and an immense round wooden canopy bed with a white mattress and cream curtains.

“Wow,” was all she could say.

Ethan kissed the soft spot under her ear. “That bed is big enough for us all to fit. And I can’t wait to try it out.”

Levi nodded, a big grin on his face. “You have no idea how many things we could actually do in there.”

Her own smile faded, and she walked away from the twins to sit on a bench underneath a huge, lush tree.

He was right. She had no idea.

And when would that change? They said they wanted her to be ready, but she’d risked her relationship with her brother for them. How much more ready could she be?

She was starting to feel like she wanted them more than they wanted her.

Ethan sat down next to her, jolting her out of her thoughts.

“What’s going on in that pretty head of yours?”

She turned to face him. “Huh? Nothing.”

“Madison…” His tone told her that he was not buying it.

“It’s nothing,” she insisted as Levi walked up. “Or rather, it’s embarrassing.”

Levi raised a questioning eyebrow as he sat down on her other side. “Embarrassing? How?”

She supposed there was no better moment to bring this up.

“It’s…well…I know that we’ve been taking things slow, for my sake, but—” She could feel her face heating up as she struggled to get the words out.

Having both of them staring at her wasn’t helping.

“But?” Ethan slid his arm around her waist and gave her a comforting squeeze.

“Madison, you can tell us anything,” Levi said. “And if it has something to do with us, there’s no need to be embarrassed.”

“The whole point of coming here was to avoid that,” Ethan added and kissed her shoulder.

“I know. I just don’t want you to think badly of me.”

“We would never!” Levi sounded almost offended by her comment. “So, will you tell us?”

“I can’t stop thinking of when…and if…you know…we’re going to…” She nibbled on her lips a little, avoiding their eyes.

“We’re going to make love?” Ethan supplied for her.

She nodded and looked up at both of them in turn. They wore matching smiles, one she’d never seen before.

Sweet? Cute? Loving? Sexy? It was all of those things.

“Soon,” Levi promised. He kissed her cheek. “We want you to—”

“Be ready.~ I know~.”

Ethan kissed her other cheek, then smiled against her skin. “And also, we want to make it special. You waited this long for a reason, and we want it to be memorable in the best possible way.”

Warmth flooded her chest at his words.

In a way, they’d loved each other for a lifetime. But it was still strange and confusing trying to navigate this new stage of their relationship.

“I’m sorry. It’s just…I’ve never experienced anything like this before, and I guess I’m just…eager to try more.”

“It’s normal, Madison,” Ethan assured her. “Nothing to be embarrassed about. You can have us whenever you want. But I think you know already that there’s more to sex than intercourse.”

The smirk she loved was stamped on Ethan’s face, and his messy hair made him look even more appealing.

“Definitely whenever you want,” Levi repeated before hopping to his feet. “But first, last one in cooks dinner!”

He took off toward the ocean, and Ethan jumped up and ran after him, calling “Sorry, ’Flake!” over his shoulder.

“Oh, come ~on~!” she yelled after him, laughing, and then she followed them down to the beach, where they were already waiting for her in the water.

Good thing she liked to cook.

LEVI

“That wasn’t so bad now, was it?” Levi asked Madison while he was setting the table.

He could barely contain his laughter.

“Levi, you cheated!” she shot over her shoulder.

“It’s not my fault you’re small and slow.” He shrugged, playing innocent.

“You held me down in the water for ten seconds before you let me go! By the time I was back up, you guys were already gone!”

He and Ethan had challenged her to another race when it was time to go back to the house. If she won, they’d cook two dinners, but if one of them won, they got to choose what she wore to cook tonight’s dinner in.

Ethan had won, and Levi had never been so happy about losing to his brother in his life.

“Sorry, I couldn’t waste the opportunity to have you cook in ~that~!”

She was wearing a sleeveless pink unicorn onesie with the legs cut short and a long rainbow tail.

And the best part? There were unicorn horns on the boobs, not just on the hood.

“I don’t even want to know where you guys found this.”

Ethan chuckled. “You’ll find your new boyfriends are very resourceful.”

Rolling her eyes, Madison set a bowl of pasta salad on the table.

Levi peered in. Tomatoes, olives, cheese, and basil. Easy, fresh, and tasty. Their girl was a miracle.

“Go on, sit down,” she ordered, spooning the cold pasta onto three plates. “I’m just going to change out of this ridiculous outfit.”

They smirked as she flounced out of the kitchen, and when she came back wearing a short sundress, they all dug in, starving.

“God, you’re good,” Levi said between huge bites. “I know you’re planning to run the gyms with your brothers, but have you ever thought of doing ~this~ for a living?”

Madison frowned, and he immediately regretted reminding her of her chef mother.

“I guess I stopped thinking about it when my resentment for ~her~ became stronger than my love of cooking.”

Ethan shot a glance at him, then turned to Madison. “When was the last time you talked to them anyway?”

Levi and Ethan had also grown up without parents around.

They’d divorced when the twins were small, and neither had any interest in raising their kids, just jet-setting around, letting nannies—and their grandad—do most of the raising.

“Can’t be sure,” Madison said shortly. “They didn’t call me for my graduation or birthday. I know they called Liam and Ezra and told them they forgot. But I wasn’t home, so…”

She took another bite before speaking again. “I guess it’s been more than a year.”

“Well, can’t say I’m surprised,” Ethan said. He took a sip of his wine. “When was the last time we saw ~our~ parents, Levi?”

After making a vain attempt to figure it out, Levi finally shook his head. “I have no idea.”

“Oh well, who cares?” Madison said flippantly. “I’m sure we’re all better off without them.”

Levi nodded. Truer words were never spoken.

“God, I’m full,” Ethan said out of the blue, rubbing his belly, and Levi was grateful for the change of subject. “You’re gonna to make us fat, Mads!”

“I doubt that.” The smile on her face curved into a naughty smirk. “But if it did happen, I’m sure we could find a way to work it off.”

“Is that so?” Ethan leaned into Madison’s side and started to kiss her jaw. “Because if your way of working it off is what I think, I’ll start to eat double now.”

He moved on to her cheek and then her ear, where he nibbled on her lobe.

Madison closed her eyes and let out little noises of pleasure that went straight to Levi’s cock.

He jumped to his feet.

“Bedroom. Now.”
