Chapter 11

First Date

Three. The Perfect Number

MADISON

Despite Ethan’s promise, her day passed far too slowly.

She went to the gym to release some stress, where she successfully avoided running into her brothers, and had another shower and some lunch. But she still couldn’t get rid of the sexual tension from that morning.

So when Sam called and asked her to meet at a bar for drinks, she was relieved.

She was already seated, starting on her usual margarita, when her phone vibrated.

She rolled her eyes, sure it was Sam saying she’d be late again. But when she pulled her phone from her bag, she saw a new chat group called “The Three.”

Ethan

Can’t wait to see you tonight.

Levi

Make sure you’re ready for us. We want to know everything about your day.

A small smile curved her lips, and her teeth nibbled on her bottom lip.

Madison

I can’t wait either. After all, you did leave me rather…

Madison

😫

Levi

Disappointed? 😏

Ethan

We’ll make it up to you soon, we promise

When she put away her phone, she looked up to see Sam rushing to the table, as upbeat as always.

Sam hugged Madison right away before sitting across from her.

“Uh-oh, what’s that smile?” Sam asked, fixing Madison with a cheerfully inquisitive stare. “You’re aware that you have some serious explaining to do, right?”

Madison didn’t even need to ask what her friend was talking about, but she waited to respond until Sam was finished ordering her dry martini.

“What do you want to know?” she asked nonchalantly. “Nothing happened.”

Sam folded her arms. “Madison Blanca Davis, you know you can’t lie to me. What happened after you ditched me yesterday? If you want me to forgive you, I’ll need details.”

Madison rolled her eyes at Sam’s dramatic use of her full name, then grabbed her margarita and had fun making her friend wait while she took a few sips.

Finally, she relented. “You saw what happened. I had to kiss both of them in front of everyone, so after that I just needed to be alone.”

“~Right.”~ Sam stretched out the word, one brow arched, then took a sip of the martini the bartender had just left on the bar, her lips curved into an eager smile. “Because the kisses were too hot to handle?”

Madison laughed. “Something like that. I know you saw them follow me, Sam.” She took another drink of her margarita then shrugged. “We talked. And kissed again. But only that, I promise. Tonight we’re going on a real date.

“But you can’t say anything, okay?”

“Hold on a second!” Sam cried. “You kissed ~again~? And now you’re going on a date…with ~both~ of them?”

“Shhh! Keep your voice down! And ~yes~, to answer your question. With both of them. But my brothers can’t find out until we figure out how to make it work.”

“Uh…I have a couple of ideas,” Sam offered, brows raised as she looked at Madison.

Both girls burst into laughter.

“What a way of giving away your V-card!” Sam marveled, wiping her eyes.

“Seriously, Sam? We haven’t even been out on a date yet!”

“Yeah, like that’s a problem! Mad, you’ve known those two for all your life. What could a date do?”

“I don’t know. I guess we can get to know each other in…a different way.”

“Yes! In a ~naughty~ way!” Sam drained the rest of her martini in one gulp. “Anyway, I’ve gotta run. Jamie is waiting for me. Big sister duty tonight.”

She stood before narrowing her eyes at Madison. “I want to know ~everything~, so keep me updated.”

She kissed Madison on the cheek and winked at her. “Do everything that I would do. Love ya!”

“Yeah, sure!” Madison called after her as she hurried out. “Love you too!”

After the catch-up with Sam, Madison went back home and was relieved to find that Liam and Ezra were still out. The last thing she needed was an interrogation about where she was off to tonight.

As she got ready for her date, she was counting down the seconds until she could finally be with the twins, but she was also nervous.

What would it be like to go on a date with two men? Would people stare, or would they just assume it was three friends out on the town?

Since the twins hadn’t told her where the date would be, she chose a casual summer outfit, a short-sleeved black dress that wrapped her curves perfectly but flowed softly to just above her knees.

The deep V-cut down the back gave the dress a sexy hint and, with her long hair up in an artfully messy bun, would show off her long, smooth back. So no bra, just a pair of black lace panties.

After slipping on the dress, her phone lit up with an incoming message.

Ethan

We just left the office…but we have a small problem. Your brothers are with us.

She frowned. This was not a great start.

Madison

Great. I’ll think of something.

Levi

Good, because I can’t wait any longer to see you

Levi

I’m dying to have your lips on mine again

A pleasant knot formed in her stomach when she read the last message.

After she put on some flat black sandals, she went to the mirror to finish her makeup.

She liked a natural look, so she just applied some mascara and a light red matte lipstick before heading downstairs with her purse in hand.

“Going somewhere, sis?”

Madison jumped, then wheeled around to see Ezra at the entrance to the kitchen. Damn. She hadn’t expected them to be so fast.

“Jesus, Ezra! You almost gave me a heart attack!”

Levi walked up to stand next to her brother. “Right. Going somewhere, ’Flake?”

She shot him a look that would have killed if she had that superpower.

Ethan and Liam joined the other two in the hallway, and Madison surreptitiously checked out the twins, who looked amazing—like always. Seriously, they could have been models ripped out of a catalog.

Levi was wearing a fitted white linen shirt with black jeans, and Ethan wore a light blue shirt with blue jeans.

Madison swallowed hard and looked back at her brothers in their gym uniforms. “Actually, yes,” she answered, keeping her voice as steady as possible. “I have a date.”

Four jaws dropped at her answer, and she had to suppress a smile. The twins probably thought she’d flat out lie—or maybe they were feigning their surprise—but she wanted to stick as close to the truth as possible.

Liam recovered first. “Well, you look good, sis. Just be careful, okay?” He stepped closer to kiss her forehead, then brushed a few curls from her face. “Call if you need anything.”

Madison stood on her tiptoes to kiss him on the cheek. “Thanks, Liam.”

When she turned to Ezra, he was pouting like a baby, his arms crossed over his chest. “I don’t like this, Madison.”

She felt a pang at deceiving him, but only a small one since he was acting ridiculous.

She just smiled indulgently and said, “Ezra, I’m going to be just fine,” then kissed him before heading to the door. “Ethan, Levi, could you give me a ride?”

~Very smooth, Madison~, she congratulated herself as the twins followed her outside.

And as soon as the door was shut behind them, Ethan echoed the sentiment. “Impressive.”

“I told you I’d think of something.”

“So you’re going on a date, hmm?” Levi murmured.

“Seems like it.”

“Let’s get going,” Ethan said, then added quietly, “Levi isn’t the only one who can’t wait to kiss you.”

“Then we better move fast!”

Ethan hurried to open the passenger side door for her, then took the driver’s seat while Levi got in behind him.

For a moment, the only sound she could hear in the car was her heartbeat.

Then Ethan pulled her to him, claiming her lips in a soft, innocent kiss, and as she reveled in his musky scent and heady touch, she sent up a prayer of thanks for tinted windows.

“Mmm…sweet,” he murmured against her lips, as his minty breath sent shivers down her spine.

The moment Ethan released her, Levi’s strong fingers were under her chin to tilt her head toward him. He paused, making sure she was with him, before pressing his mouth to hers.

His kiss was not innocent, but greedy. He hungrily tasted every inch of her mouth until, with a smack~,~ he pulled away, smiling.

“Shall we?”
