N A D A' SÂ P O V
"Nada! How could you accept it so easily?!" Fahad hollered at me.
"First of all stop calling 'it' to a baby. Let's keep a name for her." I got quite offended hearing him denote this cute baby like a commodity.
"Nad-" Uh- please.
"No! Name first." I cut him off. I am so pissed at him right now!
"Fine." He huffed and turned away.
"You and your stupid thinking. Mumtaaz will be her name, okay. That's a nice name. Get over it already." He suggested looking well- very. . . uninterested.
"For God sake, not Mumtaaz! She is born in 20th century not 16th." I got irritated as my face twisted because of the name.
"Rehannna?" I came up with the name.
"No." He denied quickly.
"Why?" You know curiosity has the best of me.
"No means no. Did I ask that why you don't want to keep Mumtaaz?" He raised his eyebrows at me.
"Hey look at this board." Fahad pointed towards a board as we both started reading it.
It said,
"Do not damage the property. This area is under CCTV surveillance.
-The MLA
Alizah Alkaram"
We both looked at each other.
"Alizah!" We both said in unison. The difference was that I was very enthusiastic whereas his tone was very bored.
Yes we are weird. And yes we kept Alizah's name after a notice board. Who cares? It's not like it's our own REAL baby.
"Yes we will keep Alizah her name. It sounds good and is a modern name too."
"Hmm."
"By the way this board was not here before." I have walked before too when I returned back home from college sometimes when my car was not working or I might have bumped into another car and it's dashboard might have got dented.
"Let it be. We got what we wanted. So who cares. Let's go home now." Fahad said in his signature bored tone. How much of a boring person he is!
We were walking when Alizah opened her wide emerald eyes. Oh my God! Her and my eyes' shade is the same...I am fangirling right now. Eeeeeeeeeee.
"Fahad! Her and mine eye color and the shade both are same." I squealed looking at Alizah's eyes.
"Tell me the truth Nada this baby is yours right?" He narrowed his eyes at me.
"What?! You idiot! How could you? I can say the same cause she has your hair color too. Now we talk." I snapped at him. Nada:1 Fahad: -1. Lol a minus one.
And we heard Alizah cry. She was wailing towards him.
"Aww...baby I am so sorry." I cooed her and patted her back. But she didn't stop crying.
"Please Alizah stop crying. Mumma is sorry. She won't fight. Stop crying, my love." I cooed trying to calm her down.
"Mumma?!" Fahad exclaimed.
"Fahad! Stop shouting!!" I gritted my teeth at him.
"Actually the point is thats she want me to hold her." He chimed in and forcefully took Alizah from me.
"Hey baby girl, I know the witch can be dangerous but I am your superhero now I will save you from her." He talked to Alizah as she looked at him for few seconds and again started crying. And damn! I was surprised as heck because Fahad, famous for his rude exterior, which by the way wasn't like that before, has become a softie now.
"Huh! 'I am your superhero now I will save you from her'Â who says these kind words?" I taunted him.
"Anyway let me check her diaper." I stepped forward to check it and I did check but there was nothing. It was clean. Yes she wore a diaper too. Good job Samaira.
"It's clean. Then why is she crying?" I asked confused behind her crying.
"Stupid! She must be hungry!" Fahad butted in.
"What to do now? Which baby food shop will be opened at this hour?" I questioned him with my forefinger at my temple.
"There's a twenty-four hours medical store after the second right turn. There you might get baby food. Use your brains." He exhorted looking at me in the end. Wow why I don't know about it?
I had opened my mouth to say something when he beat me at it.
"Don't talk much. And let's go. She will fall sick because of all the crying." He concluded, panicking.
"Who falls sick because of crying?" I implied him. If that was the case then I would have been dead after so much of crying I did when my father left this world. I sighed anyway as Fahad ignored me. Nothing new though. I am immune to it now.
We soon reached the medical store. The whole way to the store we were making Alizah stop crying and not to forget our bickering. Ugh.
"Excuse me?" I called out as I entered the store when a man and a woman in mid forties appeared.
"Yes?" The man queried with confusion on his face.
I mean why wouldn't he be confused because it's not everyday when people enter their store dressed up in clothes just as if you have attended a brown wedding and not to forget a baby in our hand at half past one in the morning.
"We want a baby formula? Is it available?" Fahad pressed, hurriedly.
"Yes. How old is she?" The woman asked looking at Alizah. Fahad turned to look at me and raised his eyebrows at me.
"What? I don't know!!" I whispered to him.
"Ugh. . . What do you know? Except irritating me?" He argued.
"It's not the correct time to fight Fahad." I scolded him.
"You have a time slot for that too?!" He uttered sarcastically. The nerve of this guy!
"Fahad." I gritted my teeth and glared at him.
"Okay do whatever you want." He raised his hands in defence and I don't why but that made Alizah cry, very loudly.
I took her from him and according to me she looks like she should be six- months old because I have cousins who are this small so I know.
"Uh. . . Six months." I answered hesitantly.
"You sure that you both are parents of her." She inquired. What is her problem?!
"And why would you ask that?" I snapped at her.
"Please give the baby formula she is already crying." Fahad interrupted in.
The lady turned back and went to bring the baby formula.
"And please a water bottle and a container which has a teat." He added and the lady looked hella confused and I turned to him with confusion on my face then I realised what he wanted to say.
"He means the baby bottle." I cleared the confusion.
She nodded and went in to get the things.
"How much you confuse people?! Dumb boy." I muttered.
"I am smarter than you anyway."
"No you are not smarter, you are just full of yourself." I rolled my eyes at him while rocking Alizah so that she stops crying. "Now please shut up! Alizah is crying because of your unwanted voice." I reiterated.
"I think it's not because of me but because of you."
"Yo-" I was cut off when the woman entered.
"Here is the baby formula, water bottle and a baby bottle."
Fahad paid the bill even though I insisted to split it but he shut me off by saying "You handle Alizah first and these small things doesn't affect a billionaire." Egoistical jerk. Typical billionaire.
We both exited the store and I handed Alizah, who still had tears in her eyes, to him.
"Okay baby. Now I have your food I'll prepare it." I tried to calm her whilst mixing her food. It is such a difficult task to do this without a proper table.
"Here, my Sweetheart." I put the bottle in her mouth and she started drinking hurriedly.
"Oh my God, she was so hungry. No wonder why she was crying so much." I pointed out taking Alizah from him.
"Let's go now." Fahad urged.
"Hmm... okay. Fahad how are we going to take care of her?"
"It's simple- we get married and officially become her parents and live a happily ever after. Stupid! Ofcourse we have to find her parents." He jeered. Never leaves a chance to be sarcastic.
"Yes and she is old enough to tell where are her parents right?" I spat sarcastically.
"We'll do dines. For a week you will take care of her then the next week I will. Till we find her parents. What say?" I confided.
"Fine, but what are we supposed to say at our homes?"
"We will tell the truth."
"Let's all go at my house and we will take your mother along with us while we are walking now and anyway my house is only one block away from yours. It's good if we explain them everything together to everyone. Okay?" He ranted off and I nodded.
"Let's go Alizah and I'll make you meet your grandmother. She loves kids so she will love you too." I gushed and she gave me a small smile. Awwwwww.....
Mom would be getting hyper but I had called around one o'clock telling that I'll reach in an hour and Fahad is dropping me off.
She knew him. She met him in Rahim's and Mira's Ruksati but today she couldn't attend because she had to go somewhere else. But by now she must have come back.
"You have already accepted that you are her mother?" Fahad asked a little surprised.
"Yes. I have because she's under my care. Our care." I acknowledged him and walked ahead.
"Hey you oldie! Walk fast!" I shouted looking back at him.
"Hey! Whom did you call an oldie?"
"Do you see anyone except us? Ofcourse you." I retorted back at him.
"Can you not speak for a minute please?"
"Nope. If you have so much problems then put in cotten balls or headphones."
"I am just wasting my time talking to you."
"Idiot."
"Physco." I gasped at it and pushed him with my shoulder so that I don't hurt Alizah.
"I am not pushing you just because Alizah is in your hands." He said.
And we continued walking with bickering all way like usual.
