Chapter 19

Eighteen

Halley's Comet

|B I L L I E|

September 19

"Billie come on we got to go" Finneas says making me shake my head once more. I hear him sigh before I'm picked off the stage floor and lifted into his arms.

We had just finished sound check and rehearsal about two hours ago. Everyone pretty left already. I refused and only sat on the edge of the stage just staring into the empty arena. Finneas left me alone until he was finally finished packing up and checking on everything. That was a hour ago and he has been trying to get me to leave since then.

"You can't stay there forever. Sooner or later you will have to face it all and sitting in that arena isn't going to do you any good." He tells me as he carries me outside to the car. I don't reply only lay my head on his shoulder and wait for him to set me down in the passenger seat.

On the way home, he stops at tacobell and orders me some burritos. I almost ask him to order some food for Halley too but I stop myself.

Come on Billie get her out of your head.

The look in her eyes when she looks at me now. She looks at me with so much anger and pain, it hurts. I get why she is mad at me, I do. I just wish she could see everything from my point of view as well.

"You alright?" Finneas asks as he pulls up in front of the hotel. I nod my head yes and grab the bag of food, getting out of the car.

"Billie—"

"BILLIE!" I look up to see Halley running toward me. My eyes widened as I watch her stop in front of me before yelling out a quick "Ah fuck!" before bending over to catch her breath.

I glance at Finneas to see him leaving to give us privacy. Halley lifts her finger to silently tell me that she needs a minute. I wait patiently for her to catch her breath before she groans and stands up straight.

"God damn I need to start going back to the gym" She pants and groans.

"Are you alright?" I ask her to which she nods her head yes. I hum in response and go to walk around her but she stops me.

"Wait!" I look at her confused and she sighs scratching the back of her neck. "Can I talk to you?" She asks me, almost hesitant to even ask.

"Sure what about?"

Halley looks around us before grabbing my hand. She pulls me into the hotel and toward the elevators. Pressing the top floor, I raise an eyebrow and watched as the doors closed.

"Halle—"

"Don't speak." She cuts me off and stares at the elevator doors. "Wait until we get to the roof"

The roof?

Why is she taking me to the roof?

I silently nod my head and lean against the walls of the elevator as we wait to reach the top. A few seconds later, there was a small ding and the doors slowly opened. I follow Halley onto the roof where she stops at the edge and leans against the ledge, taking in the view. I silently stand next to her enjoying the beautiful city life view.

"I'm sorry"

Looking over at Halley, I find her still staring at the view with a loud sigh. "I been treating you like shit when it's not even that big of a deal. I mean yes it did hurt a little when you pretended I wasn't there but I was being stupid not to understand where you were coming from"

I go to reply but she shakes her head no as if she already knew what I was going to do. "I shouldn't have yelled at you and I should have at least heard you out." She then turns to look at me.

"You didn't deserve that Billie and I'm sorry for it all"

Oh

"I shouldn't have pushed you off the bed like that Halley or—"

"Like you said you never did anything like that before so of course you are going to have a crazy reaction. Either way I shouldn't have treated you like that" She tells me.

I look away from her and sigh. "This was one big stupid argument huh?"

She shakes her head no. "Stupid yes but maybe we can learn from it" She tells me before taking my hand and looking at me deeply.

"Why don't we set some rules?" she says unsure making me look at her confused.

"Rules?"

She nods and lifts her body up to sit on the edge carefully. "Rules of our friendship" She smiles making my heart almost break into two the mention of friendship. It's not that I don't find Halley attractive because I do. Extremely. But I do also know I can't act on my feelings until I fully understand what they are.

"Alright" I say and sit next to her, barely careful of how high we are. She takes my hand and smiles at me gently.

"Okay so what are these rules?" I ask

She thinks for a moment before continuing. "Well we should promise to always tell each other the truth and always be there for each other when the other needs us"

I nod and pause to think. "Okay I like that." I look at her and nod once more. "I think we should also make sure to tell each other things that are paining us or anything that is troubling us"

"Definitely"

"Oh! Also never lie to each other" I add making her smile and nod her head.

"Of course"

My phone rings and I look down at it to see it is my mom. "Hold on" I answer it and put the phone to my ear.

"Hello? Billie where are you?"

"I'm with Halley" I say as I steal a glance at Halley to see her staring off into the distance, humming a soft tune.

" Oh well good! I'll leave yall to it. You want anything? Your father and I are going to go out for a few hours"

I shake my head before cursing under my breath when I realize she can't see me. "No I'm okay. Let me know when you get back okay?"

"Of course love. Good night I love you"

"I love you too" I hang up and slip my phone back in my pocket. I turn to Halley to find her already looking at me with a ghost smile.

"What?" I laugh as blush picks at my cheeks.

"You're just so beautiful Billie" I have received compliments before but the way she says it makes me immediately believe her. She looks at me like I'm the only one who matters and honestly it's refreshing seeing someone look at me like that.

Especially if it's her.

"Thank you"

She then looks away and lifts a leg up to bring to her chest. She rests her arm on her knee and stares off into the distance once more. "Billie why did you kiss me?" She asks me in a soft voice, almost scared of my answer.

Fuck

I shrug and play with my rings anxiously. "Uh I-I don't know" Yes I do.

"Yes you do." She replies making me look at her quickly. Not her reading my mind.

"I don't know" I pause and ran a hand through my hair before putting it up in a messy bun. "I just wanted to know if my feelings were true"

"And were they?"

Yes

"I don't kn—"

"Billie weren't you the one who said we shouldn't lie to one another"

I wish I didn't.

I sigh deeply and shake my head. "Yes my feelings were true" She hums in response and hops off the ledge before turning to me.

"What were those feelings?" She asks, stepping closer to me. She bends her head down to meet my eyes and puts her hands on either side of me.

When she stares at me in my eyes like that, I want to do more than just some kissing.

In deeper voice with just enough raspy, Halley licks her lips and pulls her lip back into her mouth before lowering her eyes. "What are you trying to do then baby girl" She says before bursting out laughing and moving away from me. I couldn't help but to laugh along at her dumb ass self.

This girl goofy

She sobers up her laugh and grabs my face in her hands before looking at me once more. She leans down until her breath is against my lips, fanning them lightly. "Can I kiss you mama?" she whispers against them so soft and hot.

Goddamn

I nod my head making her shake hers no. "Words pretty" she then tells me making almost immediately say yes. She smirks before grabbing my throat, squeezing some as she pulls me in for one of her breathtaking kisses.

Fuck me right now.
