Chapter 7 ~ We’re Off to See a Portal
The Elven Princess
Aaronâs POV ~
She said Okay! Just like that..in a week.. Just one week, and she will be mine, forever. We have everything loaded up, and ready to leave. Gavin will drop Evan off for the Jeep.. then meet us at the pack house.
I glance at her..taking her hand.. I ask âThis is totally up to you..and I want you to know I respect your choices..always.. Have you considered becâ. She interrupts âI want to be a wolf.. Artemis deserves his mate, too! And I know itâs a fifty/fifty crapshoot.. I look at it this way.. If I turn, I was always meant to be a wolf..and if I donât, the Moon Goddess has other plans.â
Can this girl get any more perfect!? She wants Artemis to have his mate! He wonât shut up, now.. but how sweet is that!? I am over the moon and falling fast! Already halfway there!
We arrive at the pack house and I link the guards to release Amy and walk her to her parentâs house. I plan on meeting with them this afternoon. Something is going to have to change.. Amy is no longer the head cheerleader trying to prove sheâs better than everyone else!
Evan walks in and hands Shaelin her keys saying âHoly shitload of weaponry, Luna! You handle all those?â She nods, grinning âAdeptly and expertly!â He asks her.. all excited âCan you teach me?â She laughs and nods.. Itâs official.. the Gamma is fangirling!
I summon the pack through the link to meet in the rear garden. As soon as everyone assembled, I took Shaelinâs hand and walked to the dais. I called attention and I announced âI have found my mate! Our Luna is finally home! A week from tomorrow, we will host her ceremony. I expect everyone to attend!â Then I turned to officially accept her âI, Alpha Aaron Steele of Silver Steele Pack, accept you, Princess Shaelin Greenleaf, as my mate. Now and forever.â She smiles at me and repeats âI, Princess Shaelin Greenleaf, accept you, Alpha Aaron Steele of Silver Steele Pack as my mate.. Now and Forever!â The pack cheers and I dismiss them.
We were in my office, at noon. Evan was showing Shaelin our training program.. and she was suggesting ways to incorporate some of her skills into the everyday routine. She works out, every day.. and we are going to see her spar this afternoon! I canât wait!
Gavin and I are going over requisition forms and transfer files. At a quarter past the hour, the phone rang. I hit speaker and said hello. Jeffrey growls âI left word you were to call me at noon! The disrespect you display needs addressed!â I slowly count to ten in my head. âI do not answer to you, Jeffrey! YOU have no right to demand anything of me! My disrespect stems from being disrespected! If it continues, I will withdraw my support from the council!â
He growls louder âYour father and your grandfather supported the council their entire lives! You dare besmirch their legacy by threatening to withdraw your support!? Have you no shame?â Shaelin climbs into my lap.. calming me down instantly.. as I respond âNo, actually. No shame at all! My grandfather supported the council, at its inception.. when men had integrity! My father supported a council that still had a modicum of honesty. The council I have inherited is one of avarice..and greed. Changing rules to suit their agendas.. Demanding things of Alphas that owe them nothing! My patience has worn very thin, Jeffrey! What is the purpose of your call?â
Heâs quieter now, when he replies âI need the girlâs information for my suit.. and the council is wondering when you want to see the portal? We have a witch on standby to identify the degree of magic.â I sigh.. responding âYou donât need the girlâs information, get over the suit, already! I want the coordinates and I will check it out. I wonât need the witchâs services. They always come with a price. I have my own expert in Elven magic.â
Before he can ask anything further, I hang up. Shay asks when we would have the coordinates and Gavin says âNow! Email from Jeffrey just popped up! So.. we can head out whenever youâd like!â She jumps up, says âLetâs go have us a look!â And weâre off to see a portal!
