CHAPTER 27
The diary of an African man
We finally arrive at my farm house which I hoped we could explore but since missy was not keen on talking to me aborted all my plans. I parked the car and watched her as she played with her fingers. She folded her body until it looked like it was scrunched up. I got out of the car and walked over to her side. I slide my hands under the small of her back and under her knees. Before I could carry her bridal style she swatted me hands away.
"Don't you dare touch me" she said with years glassing her eyes once more.
I did not blame her for being angry. Hell, I would would not even be surprised if she slapped me. I left her into this fake life and the first time she was seeing the real me was when I was killing someone. I could not even lie and say that I have never killed someone because that was a perfectly aimed bullet. Which shows that there had been a few years of experience. I did not even flinch after I killed him or when I drove past the car and watched halve of his body hang from the window.
I obeyed her command and stood away from her but close enough to still hold the door for her. There werr glass prices all over my car because my windscreen was practically non existent at that point. A few small pieces were stuck on her clothes and mine too. Zama finally decided to get out of the car after torturing me by teaching me patience. I was not particularly as remorseful as she had wanted me to be I was for sure fuming. At that point, I was so angry that I felt like my skin was burning and my my.jaw was at the brink of breaking from how hard I was clenching it. She was, at that moment in time, the living definition of the simili 'as slow as a snail' but I kept my mouth shut and walked behind her. She open she door and found MaNgema singing along with the song that's playing on the radio to her heart's content. Zama immediately shifted and stood behind me. She was afraid of a middle aged harmless lady, Take note of the word harmless, yet she defied my orders when we were in a life or death situation. As soon as MaNgema noticed us she jumped up in fear and held her chest while she tried to regulate her breathing.
"You almost killed me, Sana" she said with a playful glare.
"Ngiyaxolisa MaNgema but I assure you that my handsome will not kill you" (I am sorry)I said with a smile on my face. MaNgema had become my many of sorts because of her motherly love. She would literally shout at me for wearing earphone and call them nonsense.
"Hayi suka",(oh please){interjection} she said as she waved me off. I turned to leave and pulled Zama with me by hold her hands. At first she tried to wiggle out of my hold until she realised that the more she tried the tighter I held her and so she let me be. MaNgema cleared her throat and stared at me. I knew whst she wanted but I refused to give in.When I pretended I could not get the signal she decided to let out a sigh at my stupidity. "Aren't you going to introduce me?" She asked while she stole glances at Zama.
"Zama this is MaNgema and MaNgema this is Zama." I introduced with a bored tone.
"Sawubona ma" she said with her delicate voice.(hello)
Hawu kanti she can speak Ngiyalingwa.
"Yebo ngane yami unjani"(yesmy child how are you)
"Ngiyaphila ma wena unjani." (I am well ma how are you)
"Siyaphila ngane yami"(we are okay)
"Ma, awudingi ukuthi ngikusize lapho" she asked as she tried to escape me. I did not give MaNgema the chance to reply as I pulled her away to the guest rooms.(don't you need help with that)
"You can freshen up or lie down for a
bit but we won't be staying for long. I'm going to be making a few calls before we leave. You can also make yourself some good if you like." I said and before I could turn around to leave she spoke.
"Nkosana, why do you have a guâ" she tried to say.
"Ungalinge, Zama. Ungalinge uqale into ongeke uyiqede. Musa nje ukungi casula." I said I while a glared daggers into her eyes.(don't you dare, Zama. don't you dare start something you can't finish. Don't annoy me)
"Phendula umubuzo wami, Nkosana."(answer my question)
"I own a Ford Raptor which is very dangerous since there are many hijacking cases where people even get kill. Are you happy now?" I said but I made sure that I did not yell so MaNgema did not hear us. "Tshela mina ke kungani ukuthi mengikutshela into ungayenzi?" I asked and she did not dare look at me. "Usuthule manje."
(Tell me, why is it that when I tell you to do something, you don't do it)
"Nkosana kade ngiâ"
"Thula ngoba uyikho into esile ozoyisho. Angizi funi izincazelo ezingayi ndawo."(keep quiet because there is nothing sensible that you will say. I don't want meaningless excuses)
"I just wanted answers"
"What good are those answers when you're dead? Don't you understand that you could have died Zama" I yelled and massaged me temple to calm myself. "Kahle kahle ubani indoda phakathi kwami nawe."(who is the man between you and I ) I said as I walked over to her and toward over her. "Ngikhuluma nawe Zama."(I'm talking to you) I said as my voice became ice cold. I put my finger under her chin and propelled her to look at me.
"Uwena" she whimpered as tears slid down her cheeks.(you are)
"No need for the water works Zama. Ukuhalela ini?" (Why are you crying)I said while I gently wiped her tears away. "Yini kungathi siyayilwela leyo ndawo Zama. Ufuna ukuba yindoda yakho na?"(why does it seem like we're fighting for that position. Do you want to be your man)
"Chabo" she said as her little sniffs fill the room. My heart immediately softened. Damn her tears.(no)
"Zama as the man I have to ensure that you're spoilt, fed, well taken care of, you're treated like queen that you are but most importantly I am supposed to make sure you are safe and protected. If I don't then who will, MaCele. I am not saying you do everything I do with no questions but in a life or death situation I need you to let me protect. Question will follow. Kuyezwakala?" I tried to reason and she nodded at my words. I was still angry but iade sure to tone it down to not scare her.(are we understood)
I left her in the guest room and went to my room to change since my clothes had a few glass pieces. I went to look for MaNgema so she could borrow Zama some of her clothes. I found her sweeping the kitchen floor as she hummed a gospel song. One would sweat that MaNgema would die without music. It's like she has a little radio in her head that keeps on playing.
"MaNgema can you borrow Zama a dress that she could change into. She doesn't have any clothes here and you're the only woman around." I said while I shifted from one foot to the other. I was met with a hard glare as she stopped what she had been doing.
"Wena uyithethiselani ingane yami. Mina ngizokufaka uswazi, Sana"(why are you shouting at my child. I'll smack you) she scolded. "I'll give her something to wear kodwa hamba uyoxolisa. She added before facing the other way. I left her there and went back to Zama.
I knocked a few times to check if she was decent. She open the.door and I caught a whiff of a vanilla scent as a white gown adorned her body.
"Sthandwa sami."(my love) I said softly and she immediately looked at me with confusion. "Ngithanda ukuxolisa muntu wami. Angithandi ukuthi sixabaniswe izinto ezingekho. Nguyazi ukuthi nami ngibenephutha lami ukuthi ngigcine senginyusa iphimbo lami kwagcine sekungathi ngiyakuthethisa. Ngiyakuthanda ngenhliziyo yami yonke kodwa ngaphezu kwakho konke ngiyakuhlonipha. Ngiyazi ukuthi angikhulumanga nawe ngendlela ehloniphekile ." ( I want to apologise, my person. I don't like it when we fight over meaningless things I know I made a mistake by yelling until it seemed like I was shouting at you. I love you with all my heart my above all that, I respect you. I know that I did not speak to you in a respectful manner)I said while a stood straight with my hands behind my back . She said nothing but came to me with opened arms.
"I forgive you, Sana" she tease while her head was buried in my chest.
"Hayi, it's love of my life to you." I said to her while I held her tightly in my arms. I put a kiss on her forehead and left her to get herself ready.(no)
I went to the kitchen to prepare some food for the three of us. I boiled rice while the meat was defrosting. By the time Zama walked in the kitchen I was grating carrots for the chakalaka and coleslaw. She had on a green phinifa which, by the way, looked extremely sexy on her. It held her waist tightly and graciously flowed on her hips and behind. The woman was perfectly carved by God and her ancestors made sure of it. She sat on the high chair and watched me cook. We were covered with a comfortable silence with Lizzie Berchie softly singing in the background. Zama always seized every opportunity to play music knowing how much I hated it. The only artist she likes that I might like was Sjava and that was it.
I stole glances at her while I grated the cabbage. I hated anything that involved cutting a cabbage. My brothers and I would play games to see who lost and would automatically cut the cabbage. It was tiring and stressful. One needed to be divorced and with the biggest problems in the world to have the strength to cut that thing. Don't even get me started on butternut which Zama loved so much and I was forced to make since it was her favourite.
When I was done with the salads I went back to the chicken and marinated it. Zama came to get a glass of water and she offered to pour me some water as well. She also helped drink since my hands were filled with marinate. I notice how she did not dare come too close and how she limited any physical contact. After five months of being together Zama was still very scared of me. She was still too shy to ever voice herself. I thanked her with a chaste kiss and carried on with what I was doing. She wanted me to kiss her for a bit longer. I could tell by how her lips lingered on mine but she said nothing. Zama barely voiced herself when it came to her needs.
I finished up with the chicken and and washed my hands to get ready to dish up for the both of us. Zama sat quietly on and stared as I worked and for some odd reason I found it sexy.
"Ngitshele Zama, ngiyakuthusa yini?" I broke the silence which earned me a perplexed expression from her.(tell me, do I scare you)
"Chabo"(no)
"Manje yini ungisaba."(so why are you afraid of me)
"Angikusabi Nkosana."( I'm not scared of you"she lied while she shifted uncomfortably. I raised my eyebrow at her, unamused by the way her eyes failed to meet mine. I nodded my head at her pretending to believe her.
I only had a black vest and grey sweatpants. I took off my best and placed it on the counter although a bit far away I could still see the shock etched on her facial features.
"Come here" I said while I leaned on the counter. She stumbled on her words some, incoherent while others sounded like a whole new language. She finally gave up and took her sweet time while she walked towards me. She made sure to drag her feet while at it. She stood at arm's length and focused all her attention on the floor. I snaked my hands on her waist and pulled her closer. I pulled her into a gentle kiss that lasted for a few seconds. My lips froze in place but I never pulled away and neither did she. "Tell me what want Zama. What do want, I'm all yours, I'll give it to you." I whispered against her lips.
"I don't knoâ" she replied but I shut her up with my lips crashing onto hers. I pulled her closer until her breasts were almost spilling out. I could feel her nipples pressing against my abdomen. She was still so short even when she was on her tippy toes. I had to crane my neck downwards to be able to kiss her.
I bit her lip gently and she let out a soft moan. Her hands stayed 9n my neck and layed the unmoving, too afraid to touch my bare skin. "Up" I whispered into her ear. My voice had become hoarse and scratchy. The music in the background had not stopped and her moans and Sabrina were the only sounds filling the room, save for my occasional groaning. She obeyed my command and jumped up and I caught her mid ati so she could wrap her legs around my waist. I 0laced her on the counter and continued worshipping her lips with mine.
"Nkosana, you know when you kiss me on my neck. I really want you toâ" Zama said as she pulled away from me which immediately dampened my mood. List at that moment had been the ruling emotion in my body. Before she could continue with her rambling I devoured her neck. I nibbed at the deepest curve of her neck, almost below her earlobe. There was a little mole which I believed had stored all her hormones from how much she moaned and sometimes held my head to deepen my assault on her. "No, you're not listening. I want you to teach me so I can do it to you." She said with her breathy voice as she tried to catch her breath. I stopped on my tracks. Her words had immediately started a malfunction in my brain. I pecked her shoulder before standing up straight.
"So you going to do as I say. First, you must peck the skin a little. Get a little taste even a whiff of my scent if you want but the main point is to get comfortable." I said and she hummed softly at my words before placing butterfly kisses on my shoulder and neck. A shiver rippled through my spine from the the contact. "Then you're going to kiss me just as you kiss me on the lips butâ" I said with a husky voice that barely stood tall, it was the kind of way that a man stripped off of their pride or power spoke. Be fore I could even finish Zama was already heeding to my introductions and goodness was it not heavenly.
I could feel her warm breath that faned my skin. She shifted colder to get more comfortable not knowing that the more she moved the more she kept grinding on my groin. I held her waist tightly to restrict any for movement but my attempt was futile. Her lips landed right below my earlobe and she sucked on my skin. I refused to believe that she was a beginner. I needed to know who taught her this. She nibbed at my earlobe and carried on peppering gentle bites on my skin only to lick them better. Groans and grunts erupted from deep within my throat as she grinding on me. I pulled her closer to me and what sounded like a whimper and a moan filled the air around us.
I could not by any chance let whatever we were doing carry. At some point I would get carried away and I would end up making her uncomfortable. Zama didn't even look like she was keen on letting me touch her butt. I certainly did not ask but I knew she did not want me to, I preferred it if she were to say what she wanted. I didn't want to pressure or make her feel like she was forced to do anything with me. I knew she was inexperienced so I did not rush her. I would just have to suffer from the lack of sex on my own but I refused to be DSTV.
"Stop, please stop." My voice struggled to say. My inner self did not like what I had said one bit and that is exactly what I was afraid of. I was afraid of letting my sexual desires dictate my logic. "Let's not take this any further. Good...uhmâlesson, I guess. Where did you learn that?" I asked with perilous curiosity that could get me killed.
"I happen to read alot of books, Nkosana" she said breathlessly.
The readers were always the kinky and dirty ones. No matter how innocent they looked. With just one book and a wondering mind even virgins could have their favourite sex positions. With nothing to say except wonder what that Hlomu she loved so much had, I nodded at her response.
The only problem then was how I could move away from her without showing her my boner, which in fact, was very visible on my grey sweatpants.
I breathed in some courage and shifted away from her. Her eyes immediately widened at the sight and she faced the other way to perhaps convince herself that she saw nothing. I felt like a bad influence who tainted Zama to see the dirtiest of things. I took both her hands and placed the on her face to cover her eyes. I carefully walked away and took a cold shower. Zama would certainly kill me one day.and I'm betting on my annual salary that it would be because of blue balls. I took a shower and changed once again, I also prepared to go to work although I was extremely late. It was a few minutes till six and I still had a long drive to cover. I dressed up and went to the kitchen and found Zama in the same position I had left her in. Her fingers brushed against her lips as if she could not believe what had happened between us.
"I have to get to work, I'll leave with the Raptor and Vuks will come and fetch you. He'll be taking you to and from work plus I need to make sure you're protected." I said as I dished up for supper in a Tupperware container.
She jumped off of the kitchen counter and walked me out. I quickly pecked her forehead and her pouting lips. I ignored her sulking face and walked to the door but before I could get too far I hear a whining sound and find Zama stomping her feet while her hands slap her hips and thighs like a spoilt little toddler refused of any candy. I chuckled at how paradoxical the situation was, displaying a childish act only to be begging for adult things. I went back to her and gave her a proper kiss.
"Drive safely" she said against my lips.
"So you were waiting for me to kiss you properly so I can drive safely. What if I had not come back? What would have haven't then?" I teased while I speckled kisses on her face which earned me a childlike giggle.
"I guess we'll never know"she mused
"I guess so." I agreed with her. I reluctantly pulled away from her and went to my car while she dished up some food for herself.
