Episode 14

EPISODE FOURTEEN

All of our classes ended a bit early, so instead of going home, we decided to hang out and since none of us wanted to waste money at the mall, we decided to hang at the soccer field and watch the soccer team have a practice match. Arden and I are still sitting at the opposite ends

We were watching the practice game when we heard Kevin’s phone ring, we all know it’s Kevin’s phone because his ringtone is very unique anyways he answered it and hang the phone just after a few minutes

“Hey Nicky” Kevin called as he stood

“Yeah?” I said turning to him

“Can you come with me for a bit?”

“Why?”

“Because I’m doing someone a favor” he sighed “please”

I looked at him, a bit confused but still I stood

“Where are you two going?” Jamie asked

“At the cafeteria, we’ll be just a sec” Kevin answered and started walking

“I’ll tell you guys what’s up when I get back” I said then followed him

“Thanks for doing this” Kevin said as we walked to the cafeteria

“No biggie“ I said “but what exactly am I doing? And why are we going to the cafeteria?”

He pointed at one of the tables, I looked and saw a girl with a short brown hair waving at us, She looked familiar

“Brooke wanted to talk to you” Kevin spoke

Brooke? Who’s she? , I thought for a bit then it hit me, she’s the girl who kissed me at Kevin’s party!

“You know her?” I quickly asked Kevin

“Yeah, she’s one of my high school friends” he answered “I’m actually surprised that she knows you”

“We met at your party, sorta”

“Oh cool” he said then suddenly stopped “ok then, let me know what you guys talked about” then he turned around and was about to leave

“hey! Wait a sec!” I called, Kevin stopped and looked back “where are you going?”

“Back to the field” he answered “Brooke just wants me to take you to her, she actually wants to talk you privately” he waved and walked away

I sighed and went ahead anyway. Brooke smiled as I went to her, I saw two chocolate shakes at the table

“Hey” She greeted and motioned me to sit which I did ”I ordered you a chocolate shake, hope you like it”

“Thanks” I smiled

“And thanks for coming”

“No prob” I said “um, why am I here exactly?”

“I wanted to talk to you, actually I wanted to apologize”

“Apologize for what?”

“What I did at Kevin’s party” she shyly reminded me “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to do that, I had to many drinks, you were just so awesome and I kinda reacted, I was going to apologize but after that happened, I didn’t see you at the party so I’m really sorry”

“It’s ok don’t worry about it” I giggled “but that party happened like a month ago, why did you decided to talk to me now?”

“I couldn’t get over that incident, I wanted to talk to you so badly but I didn’t know how to contact you since I don’t know your name” she answered “It was weeks after the party that I found out your name and that you’re friends with Kevin, I thought you were like one of Kevin’s cousins”

I laughed and Brooke continued “It took me like days to muster up the courage to talk to you personally because I’m really embarrassed and I don’t know what to say to you” She blushed and avoided eye contact

“You definitely said plenty of things“ I giggled “and I appreciate that you did this even if we didn’t know each other formally so…” I reached out my hand and smiled “Hey, I’m Nicky Lopez, nice to meet you”

She took my hand and smiled back “I’m Brooke Adams, nice to meet you too”

I shook her hand and laughed “ok, this is too formal, let’s just do high fives the next time we meet”

She giggled “Agreed” then she looked at her watch “um, I have to go, my class starts in 20 minutes”

“You have a class but you still went here?”

She nodded “Like I said I wanted to talk to you” she said then she stood and grabbed her bag “see you around”

I smiled “yeah, and thanks for the chocolate shake”

“You’re welcome” then she finally left

I stayed at the cafeteria for a bit and drank the chocolate shake then I heard something ringing, I looked around the table and saw a cell phone and someone was calling, I picked it up and was about to answer it but the call stopped, I checked the phone out, maybe it has a contact number or a photo of the owner

I looked at the album and saw many photos of Brooke, she's really pretty

So this belongs to Brooke, Maybe I’ll give it to Kevin so he can return it to her, I put her phone in my pocket and finished the chocolate shake, then I made my way back to the field, they’re still watching the game

The moment I sat next to them, Jamie quickly asked while laying down on the bench “So Kevin told us you were meeting someone” she looked at me and grinned “who’s the mystery person?”

“It's the girl I told you about that I sorta met at Kevin’s party” I answered

Ryan turned to me then to Kevin “what girl??”

“Her name’s Brooke” Kevin spoke “she’s a friend from high school”

Jamie sat up and turned to me “so that’s the name of the girl that kissed you” she grinned

“She kissed you?!?” Both the guys exclaimed in unison, shocked expressions were on their faces

All eyes now are on me, Cindy has a smirked on her face and Arden just quietly looked at me

I sighed heavily and looked at Kevin “yeah, she kissed me” I said

“I bet she was drunk when she did that”

I nodded and Kevin smiled “She always does that when she’s drunk but then again that’s how she met some of her ex-boyfriends and ex- girlfriends so maybe that’ll end well for you”

I awkwardly smiled at him “she did apologize earlier, so we’re cool now”

“It’s good that you two are in good terms now” Ryan said “just one question though, why didn’t I see that??”and that earned him a smack on the head, courtesy of Cindy which made all of us laughed

And after all that laughter died down, all of us went back to talking about random stuff and playful teasing, Arden ride along the jokes, she laughs but not as much as she use to, I’m the same, my head are just so full of thoughts, thoughts about life, school, Arden and more recently Brooke, come to think of it, I was thinking about her since she left then I remembered her phone, maybe I’ll return her phone personally

And to avoid me feeling awkward and further discussion about Brooke, I sent a text message to Kevin, asking for Brooke’s address

Kevin texted with a “why are you asking her address?”

I replied saying that she left her phone and I wanted to return it personally

Kevin looked at me and I showed him the phone, he nodded and sent me a text with Brooke’s address

I looked at him and mouthed the words “Thank you”

He winked and gave me smirked which made me smile

After the practice game, we all decided to go home, well, at least they did

“You’re not going home yet?” Arden asked

I shook my head “I’m going to a friend’s house, I’m going to return something”

“Okay then” she then started to walk but then she stopped just after a few steps

“Um, Nicky” Arden spoke

“Yeah?”

“Take care ok?”

I smiled “You too”

Arden smiled back and finally left, I got a taxi and went to Brooke’s house, I told the taxi driver the street name and he quickly got me there, when I got there I easily found her house which actually is an apartment, I went to the door and rang the doorbell

The door opened and out comes a girl with a semi long red hair

She smiled at me and greeted “Hey”

“Hey” I responded with a smile “Is this where Brooke Adams lives?”

“Yeah” she answered “and can I know your name?”

“Oh I’m sorry, my name is Nicky Lopez”

When she heard my name, her eyes and smiled widened with excitement

“Come in and sit down for a bit!” she exclaimed

“Thanks but I just came here to return this” I said then showed her Brooke’s phone

“Emily!?” someone called “Who are you talking to you?”

Brooke went to the door and instantly freaked when she saw me

“Nicky! What are you doing here!?” she asked, surprised

“Hey, I just came by to return this” I said then gave her the phone “you left it at school”

She took the phone “I was looking all over the place for this! Thank you!”

“You’re welcome”

“Do you want to come in and grab a soda?”

“Thanks but I gotta go, I still have some school work to finish” I said “maybe next time”

“Um, yeah, totally” Brooke replied “thanks again” while her friend kept giggling at her side

“so, I’ll see you around”

“Yeah see you around”

I smiled and waved good bye then left but not before I heard them talk

Brooke’s friend says “Omg! you’re right Brooke! she’s gorgeous!”

“Sshh! Not so loud Emily! She might hear you!”

Which of course I did, but I didn’t reacted, I just kept on walking to the sidewalk with a huge smile on my face
