Chapter 2
An Almighty System From On High
Adrien stood wet outside the door of the Fendi store.
âSir?â
âI just got soaked by the rain. So I want to buy some clothes that I can change into immediately. You know, itâs uncomfortable to be all wet like this.â
âI see. Please come in. The service assistant couldnât drive Adrien away since Adrien was a customer, even though Adrien didnât look wellâdressed.
Adrien heard Carrieâs voice from afar saying, âHoney, is this outfit nice?â Adrien looked over in the direction of her voice and coincidentally bumped into her faceâtoâface!
âAdrien Higgins! I told you not to follow me anymore! How dare you follow me here!â Carrie shouted.
Adrien turned his head as if he hadnât heard Carrie and continued to browse the clothes..
âHow dare you play dumb with me?!â Carrie walked up to Adrien, but Adrien still ignored her as if she were invisible.
âWaitress, you better open your eyes wide so that people with only several dollars in their pockets wonât come here and pick out clothes worth thousands of dollars!â Carrie pointed at Adrien and said arrogantly.
âAdrien remained unmoved, continuing to choose suitable clothes for himself. It was not surprising that he was attracted to the clothes. He started working partâtime in his sophomore year, and most of the money he earned was given to Carrie, only left some for daily use. To put it nicely, Adrien was a man who loved his wife. To put it bluntly, he was a lickspittle who was eventually cruelly abandoned by his lover!
âSir, these clothes are all priced above 15 hundred dollars each. If you really donât plan to buy them, then please donât touch them. After all, we need to compensate for any damages.â The service assistant couldnât bear to watch the scene any longer.
âDid you hear that, you beggar? Who gave you the courage to follow me to a store like this?! Honey, that poor loser is ruining our moods again!â
âI told you before! If I see you again, Iâll hit you again! It seems like you have a short memory! You just got beaten up, and now you want some more, right?â Wayne walked toward Adrien with his fists clenched.
Adrien didnât even bother to look at Wayne since Wayne was just a sucker. Now that Adrien had a system, there was no need for Adrien to argue with Wayne. Adrien picked out two shirts and two pairs of pants and handed them to the service assistant. âHold onto these four for me.â
âYouâre just putting on airs. I know how much you have exactly!â Carrie sneered from the side, making the service assistant hesitant about Adrienâs intention.
âIf you know everything, do you know how much money I spent on you over the past three years?â
âThatâs because you were willing to spend it on me! You have no job, no background, and not even parents. You should be grateful that anyone wanted to be with you. I must be blind, for I actually wasted three years of my life with someone like you!â
âCarrie Archer, you spent nearly 30 thousand dollars of my money in the past three yearsâ
âThree years? You were only giving me 700 dollars a month. How dare you calculate the total cost over three years!â
âYouâre right. Youâre absolutely right! So, where are the clothes your rich honey bought for you?â Adrien continued to browse the clothes without looking at Wayne or even Carrie.
Carrie immediately shook the clothes in her hand in front of Adrien.
âLook at this suit. Itâs customized and costs ten thousand dollars. Itâs what you spent on me in a year.
With a honey like this, do I need someone like you?â
âGo pay for it now. Then put it on immediately and make your sugar daddy happy!â
âAdrien! Canât you speak properly and decently? Heâs my husband! My honey!â
âDid you get married? Calling an old man whoâs 20 or 30 years older than you like that, huh? His son must be older than you, right?â Adrien had cooled down at that moment and was being all sarcastic. He didnât seem like the person who was hesitant to compete with others without a system earlier. It surprised Carrie. Upon reflection, it was understandable that Adrien had worked different jobs and met different people in the past three years.
âYou little brat, I believe youâre looking for trouble!â Wayne, who was standing next to them, was furious when he heard Adrienâs words. Although Wayne had a wife and child and was just playing around with Carric, he couldnât bear to hear something so insulting said in public.
âSir! If youâre here to buy something, please watch your language. If not, Iâll call security to escort you out!â The service assistant who held Adrienâs clothes also spoke coldly to Adrien.
âAre you deaf? This woman has been insulting me since I entered. You didnât say anything just because she dressed nicely? I talked back to her, and now you want to kick me out? Remember who you are. Youâre just a service assistant. What makes you think you can yell at me?â Adrienâs aura wasnât something that a recent graduate could be easily released but rather resembled those highâ
level rich people!
Another service assistant hurried over to stop her colleague, Janice, from arguing with the customer.
âOkay, okay, Sir. Let me serve you instead! Janice, you go serve this lady!â
âYou poor loser, Iâm watching you. Letâs see if you can pay for your purchase!â
âWhy donât you go pay for your own clothes first and then enjoy the show!â
âHoney, heâs insulting me!â Carrie whined to Wayne.
âWaitress, the bill now!â Wayne took Carrie to handle the payment and then stood at the checkout counter, waiting to see Adrien make a fool of himself.
Adrien browsed for a while, and the service assistant behind him was holding a dozen or so clothes and was getting impatient, but she didnât show it.
âLetâs go. Iâll pay and change into these clothes. And Iâll throw away what Iâm wearing now.â
When Adrien spoke, the service assistant hesitated and came to the checkout counter. Carrie rushed to Adrienâs side and shouted, âI suggest you call the police. This person doesnât have any money. Heâs just here to play with you!â
The cashier nervously scanned the price tags and said, âSir, you have thirteen items. Thatâll be 31 thousand dollars in totalâ
Adrien handed over his Reburg Bank card, and the cashier saw it was just an ordinary debit card. She immediately became stern and said. âSir, youâre disrupting public order by doing this! I will report you to the police.â
âYouâre going to report me before you even swipe my card? Debit cards canât be swiped? Or is it that your little Fendi storeâs market value is higher than Reburg Bankâs? Maybe your parent company has a higher market value than Reburg Rank, but you? Please si swipe the card, waitress!â
âHmph, what if your card doesnât work? The cashier at the counter picked up Adrienâs debit card and swiped it. Adrien calmly entered his password.
The receipt then came out!
Everyone around was dumbfounded!
âThatâs impossible! How could you have over 30 thousand dollars!â Carrie exclaimed in disbelief.
Ignoring her. Adrien took out a few clothes from his purchase and walked into the dressing room alone to change.
Soon, a handsome and decent young man appeared before everyoneâs eyes.
Adrien walked up to Carrie and whispered, âThereâs a beautiful bag in the back that suits your skin tone very well. Go take a look and let your sugar dad⦠Oh, no. Let your husband buy it for you.â
Carrie was taken aback by Adrienâs sudden change, but as soon as she heard his words, she couldnât help but want to see the bag. After all, Adrien had always had good taste, and she had really liked the few small gifts he had given her before, but things had changed since then.
âHoney. Iâm going to take a look inside!â
Tll go with you. And Iâll buy whatever you like!â
Wayneâs words greatly increased Carrieâs confidence.
The two of them went to the bag section, and Carrie spotted the bag that Adrien had recommended to her at a glance.
