Chapter 19
An Almighty System From On High
When Adrien returned home, his staff left to attend to their private affairs. Adrien lay on the bed and thought about the news about Corestar Group that Sylvia mentioned to him. He checked on his phone but couldnât find any related information. No domestic media had reported the news. Perhaps he could find something on foreign news channels.
Just as expected, foreign media reported the news. The Corestar Group had imported cosmetics, food, electronics, and luxuries and put them on two cargo ships. When the ships arrived at the Eden Ocean, there was a hurricane. Then, the ships sank, and several people died.
Adrien turned off the phone and contemplated for a while. He was sure Lilianne would come to him if she couldnât handle it herself. However, it had been several hours since the incident happened, and Lilianne still didnât contact him. It would mean either she already took care of everything or she didnât want Adrien to know about it!
Adrien didnât mind if Lilianne took care of everything without reporting to him. However, if Lilianne couldnât handle it and hid it from him, Adrien would do something! He was only a sleeping partner of the Corestar Group and didnât even go to the company once. The worst scenario would be to sell all his shares that the System endowed Adrien!
Adrien had 79% of the stock shares of Corestar Group. The companyâs stock price would plummet and drop 90% if Adrien. sold his shares! That would be a loss no shareholder could bear except Adrien. It didnât cost a dime for him to get those shares in the first place!
Meanwhile, Lilianne was in a threeâstory villa on the outskirts of Reburg.
âLilianne, I havenât seen you for almost a month! How are you doing?â Roland said while greeting his downcast daughter.
âDad, letâs eat first. What do you want to have? Iâll cook.â
âYou can cook whatever you want. Iâm not picky,â
Roland and Lilianne did some small talk over the meal.
âNow, whatâs going on, Lilianne?â Roland said abruptly.
âNothing is going on, Dad. What do you mean?â
âYou are still hiding it from me. You didnât tell me when the company was merged, and now you are not going to tell me what happened in the trading company. I am retired, but I still know stuffâ
*Fine. Iâll tell you, Dad. We just lost a patch of goods worth 315 million dollars, and that money was a loan from the bank. We only have 130 million dollars of cash flow in our account, and thatâs not enough. Iâve already contacted all the media people and asked them not to report it. If anyone learns about this, we will have to pay back the debt and compensate for the loss of our partners. Thatâs pretty much it.â
âWhen did it happen?â
âIt has been over 7 hours since I got the news and 19 hours since the shipwreck.â
âDid you tell this to Mr. Higgins, the new president?â
âWhy would I tell him? Heâs just aâ¦â
âLilianne! You are no longer the president of the group. Your shares are less than oneâtenth of his. You canât call the shots in the company. If you donât tell him what happened and handle the situation yourself, which may cause the stock price to plummet, Mr. Higgins will suffer a great loss. He may file a lawsuit against you, and you could end up in jail! How could you be so stupid? You should know better than this!â
*Itâs not like that, Dad! No one cares about Corestar Group better than me. I wonât sit back and watch our group fail. Mr.â Higgins has never come to the company since he purchased it. Thatâs how little he cares about the company. Mr. Higgins is an unreliable man. All he cares about are profit and performance. He only used his family wealth to chip in and share our profits!
âLilianne, let me remind you of one thing. Corestar Group is no longer our company. Do you have any idea how wealthy at man must be to buy most shares of Corestar Group?â
âDad, you donât have to say anything. I know what Iâm doing.â
Roland looked at his daughter and said nothing more.
Adrien thought Lilianne would call him, so he waited until 10 p.m. However, Lilianne didnât call. Adrien just forgot about it. Meanwhile, the System upgraded again, and he received another seven million dollars. Nevertheless, Adrien cared nothing about money. All he cared about was the four keys on the control panel.
âSystem! I want to use the key of Predictions!â
âDing! The System is predicting now. Please wait for a second. Ding! The stock price of Daniel Technology in the Postport Security Exchange will plummet 93% in April. 22. Please seize the opportunity, Host.â
âHoly shit! Thatâs another chance to get rich!â
Adrien grew excited. He was thinking of leveraging ten times, twenty times, or even fifty times the capital he would invest from the bank and using the fund to short the shares of Daniel Technology.
Adrien looked at the calendar. April 22 would be Thursday. He still had time to open an account and contact the bank and securities trader!
âSylvia, I need to make a trip to Postport in April. 20. Please book an air ticket for me. Iâve already had my passport applied. Darcy, Angus, and you will come as well.â
âPostport? Why are you going there?â Darcy was curious.
âIâm going to short a stock there. However, I donât have an account in the Postport Security Exchange.
So, I have to arrive. there earlier and get it ready.â
Sylvia thought about Adrienâs words for a moment and said, âI know people in this business. May I ask how much you are going to invest, Mr. Higgins? I may help you with that.â
âGreat. Sylviaâ Iâm thinking of raising a fund 20 times or 50 times my principal, but Iâm not sure about the amount limitation of the Postport Security Exchange.â
âOkay, Iâll contact my former boss for you tomorrow, Mr. Higgins. His family is in the stock market business and has a subsidiary company in Postport.â
âYou would do that for me? Thank you, Sylvia.â
âYou are most welcome, Mr. Higgins.â
Adrien returned to his room and lay on the bed. He initiated the second skill. Adrien was surprised that his second skill was flying an airplane, and the System also gave him a Pilotâs License! This small blue license was proof that Adrien could fly airplanes. âIn such case, perhaps I should buy a plane. Never mind. Iâll see if itâs necessary later. Adrien thought to himself.
âSystem, I want to click the Blessing key!â
âDing! You have received a great blessing. Host. I wish you Never Get Sick!â
âWhat? Seriously?â
âItâs most certainly true!â
