Chapter 14
Truth, Lies and Deception (the boyband series)
The car stopped then and when Abigail looked out the window, she saw a long bus with the words âBayside Boys Black and White Tourâ emblazed on it.
âWow.â She commented with wide eyes, âThatâs really cool.â
He smiled as he looked at her.
âWait until you see inside.â
She turned to look at him then and caught him looking at her.
âWhat?â she asked, suddenly feeling self-conscious.
He shook his head at her before he opened his door.
âCome on.â
The both got out then and after taking Abigailâs bags out of the trunk, Rick thanked the driver and they headed towards the bus.
âWhere is everybody?â Abigail asked as they hadnât seen anyone outside the bus, yet there were tons of bags there.
Rick shrugged.
âTheyâre probably inside.â He told her.
They heard laughing then and Rick knew he was right. He started up the stairs to the bus then and motioned for her to follow.
When they were inside, they found AJ, Sara, Ryan and his wife, Lena, all sitting around a table at the side of the bus. The conversation ceased and they looked up at the two.
Rick made the introductions quickly.
âGuys, this is Abigail. Sheâs coming on tour with us.â He said.
AJ smirked as if heâd already predicted that and Sara nudged him with her elbow.
âAbigail, you already met AJ and Sara.â He said nodding at the two and ignoring their interlude before turning to Ryan and Lena.
âThis is Ryan and his wife Lena.â He told her.
âItâs nice to meet you Abigail.â Lena told her politely with a smile as she took the younger girlâs hand. Ryan did the same.
âSo how long will you be on tour with us for?â Ryan asked.
âUh..â Abigail said, âAbout a week, maybe more.â
When they looked at her confused, she added.
âIâm on two weeksâ vacation right now so as long as Rick can stand me during that time, Iâll be here.â
Rick laughed.
âStand you?â he asked, âBaby, I was having a hard enough time leaving you behind, thatâs why I had to bring you with me!â he put an arm around her waist and pulled her close. Abigail merely smiled at her audience before pulling away from him gently so as not to arouse curiosity.
âWhat is it you do exactly?â AJ asked looking at her.
âI uhâ¦â Abigailâs mind started racing as she tried to think of an occupation.
âSheâs a model.â Rick informed AJ and watched as his eyebrows shot up. âAnd can you blame her with legs like that!â
If looks could looks could kill, Rick would have been dead then with the glare Abigail gave him. She swore, when she got him alone, she was going to give him a piece of her mind.
No one seemed to notice Abigailâs expression except Sara, who had been watching her very closely ever since she came onto the bus. AJ, who had been doing the same, now had his attention turned to Abigailâs legs trying to see what Rick was talking about.
âI used to model.â Lena said then making Abigail focus her attention on her. âNow Iâm more into acting. You ever thought of acting?â she asked her.
âNot really.â Abigail replied honestly.
âWell, if you do, just give us a call. Me and Rye have our own production company.â She added, then as if it were an afterthought said, âYouâre really beautiful, if you donât mind me saying so.â She stated quickly with a laugh. âI think you would look good in front the camera.â
Rick opened his mouth to say something but Abigail cut him off.
âThank you. Rick, why donât you show me where I can put my stuff?â she said turning to him expectantly.
âSure.â He said walking her lower down the bus where the bunks were.
As soon as they were out of earshot, Abigail grabbed his arm and turned him towards her.
âWhat the hell was that?â she hissed.
âWhat?â Rick asked innocently.
âYou know exactly what Iâm talking about!â she retorted, âThe whole, baby this and putting your arm around me.â
He shrugged.
âI was just acting my part like weâre supposed to be doing.â
Abigail put her fingers to her temples and counted to three. He was right. This was her case. She was undercover. She was supposed to act like his girlfriend.
Which reminded herâ¦
âA model Rick?â she asked him, âMe a model? Is that the best you could have done?â
âWhat? You couldnât think of anything!â he countered, âBesides, youâre gorgeous. It fits.â His voice lowered then and he could see her eyes softening. He hadnât meant to tell her what he thought of her, but damn was she prettier when she was angry.
Abigail sighed and she shook her head as a thought occurred to her.
âAnd another thing.â She began, placing her hands on her hips as was her habit. He looked at her expectantly, âWhat do you mean âWith legs like thatâ Rick, youâve never even seen my legs!â
He grinned mischievously.
âI know, but Iâm sure theyâre great.â His eyes trailed down her body then, lingering on her legs making her shift uncomfortably. She saw the twinkle in his eyes just before he turned around and walked over to a bunk where he dropped her bags.
âYou can put your stuff here.â He said turning to her, âDonât worry. No one would interfere with it.â He added when she looked around and saw some stuff already there.
âSomeone elseâs bags are already there.â She said.
He waved his hand dismissively.
âThatâs my stuff. Just ignore it.â He said about to walk back to the others, but she put a hand on his arm stopping him.
âI canât share a bunk with you.â She said suddenly nervous.
He grinned.
âWhy not?â
âBecause..â
She looked so nervous, Rick gave up teasing her.
âRelax.â He said, facing her again, âWe donât sleep on the bus, except for like a quick nap, but weâre going to a hotel. We basically use the bunks to put our stuff.â
Abigail was relieved.
âOh.â Then feeling embarrassed about what she thought he meant added. âI knew that.â
âSure you did.â He replied smiling, âYou know, for someone undercover youâre really very tense. You need to loosen up a bit.â
Abigail glared at him.
âI AM loose!â she exclaimed and watched as he rolled his eyes, âItâs just that you make me..â her voice trailed off.
âNervousâ he supplied.
The glare turned fierce.
âAnnoyed.â She corrected.
âWhy is that?â he asked, leaning against one of the upper bunks.
âI donât know.â She said frustrated.
Rick looked at her and sighed then.
âLook Abby, Iâm sorry.â He said sincerely as she looked up at him, âI shouldnât be giving you such a hard time. After all, you are here to help me out.â
She folded her arms.
âThatâs right. You should be giving me all the co-operation I need.â She said.
He smiled and put out a hand. âCome on, letâs get back there before they start getting ideas.â
Abigail swatted him as she put her hand in his.
