Chapter 91

Wake Up! You’re My Ex Now (Cordelia)

Chapter 91 Elijah’s Trick

Cordelia sneered, “Verbal agreements really can't be relied upon. It's

fine. I'll find another solution for the funding issue.”

“No need. I've already mobilized funds from Holland Group. It is in the

process and won't take too long,” Eason said.

Cordelia quickly shook her head. “No, Eason. Don’t you remember what

we agreed on before?”

At that moment, Elijah approached. Without hesitation, he put his arm

around Cordelia’s waist and said, “If you encounter any difficulties, you

can talk to me.”

Cordelia immediately jumped away as if she had been scalded. She

looked at Elijah with her eyes filled with vigilance. “We're about to get

divorced. Don't touch me.”

Elijah’s gaze turned visibly cold in an instant.

Cordelia had made him lose face in front of another man, especially

when that man was Eason.

He whispered in Cordelia's car, “I assume you wouldn't want me to

withdraw the divorce application tomorrow. If I were you, I'd keep up

the act for at least another month. Yet here you are, rushing towards

another man? Cordelia, you're too impatient.”

After saying that, Elijah turned his gaze towards Eason. “Mr.

Holland, Cordelia and I have some matters to discuss, so we won't

invite you inside.”

Eason raised an eyebrow. His sharp gaze was capable of seeing through

everything.

With the declaration, Elijah dragged Cordelia toward her apartment.

“Eason, I'll find a solution for the funding issue. Don’t worry about it,”

Cordelia finally turned to Eason and said.

Eason waved her off, ignoring their pretend marriage game. He got into

his car and drove away.

Elijah had pulled Cordelia back into her apartment. Amidst her

astonished gaze, he confidently entered as if he owned the place.

“Elijah, this is not funny.”

Elijah sat down on the sofa without hesitation and said coldly, “If I

didn’t come up, the one coming up would be Eason, right?”

Cordelia didn't say anything. She knew he wouldn't believe her no

matter what she said, and it would lead to another argument.

But she was clear with one thing in her heart. This was her sanctuary,

and she wouldn't easily bring a man here.

“Eason isn't someone you can manipulate. Obviously, he has feelings

for you, but he’s skilled at pretending...”

“Enough!” Cordelia suddenly raised her voice. “Elijah, I'm not interested

in hearing your speculations. Since you came here, let's talk.”

Elijah stared at Cordelia and said, “Okay. What do you want to talk

about?”

“Why the sudden withdrawal of funding?” Cordelia asked.

“I didn't withdraw it,” Elijah answered candidly.

Cordelia also thought that Elijah wasn't the type of person to be so

petty, but the timing of this incident was just too coincidental, and she

was furious now.

“It seems like you're not doing as well in Hansen Group as it appears on

the surface,” Cordelia mocked.

Elijah chuckled, “If you're curious about it, I can give you a firsthand

experience.”

Cordelia knew when to stop. She steered the conversation back to the

main topic. “Since we're already in the process of getting a divorce, it

would be better to sign an agreement for the funding issue formally.

Otherwise, your company's constant interruptions to our research

institute's funding might also tarnish the reputation of Hansen Group.”

Elijah nodded. “Okay. I'll have the legal department draft the agreement

tomorrow and bring it to you in the evening.”

As he spoke, he began to unbutton his tie.

Cordelia raised an eyebrow. “What are you doing?”

“I'm tired. I'll stay here tonight. It's closer to the company for tomorrow

morning.” As Elijah talked, he had already removed his shirt, revealing

his well-built chest and abdominal muscles.

Cordelia immediately became anxious. “Elijah, don't go too far. Do you

think I'm joking when I want your divorce?”

Elijah’s gaze turned sharp in an instant. He stood up, walking toward

her.
