Chapter 193
Wake Up! You’re My Ex Now (Cordelia)
Chapter 193 Spend Our Whole Lives in Love
Cordelia pondered for a moment and nodded. "Okay, this is the key to
my room. You can go."
Elijah was confused, and he asked, "What about you?"
Cordelia didn't want to be in the same intimate space with Elijah.
She replied, "I have an appointment this afternoon.â
"Well, you need some rest," Elijah said, lifting her up without hesitation.
"Hey, Elijah, put me down," Cordelia whispered, her voice soft and filled
with slight annoyance.
It was nap time, and she didn't want to disturb the neighbors around
the area.
She didn't want any rumors spreading through the small town, as it
would quickly reach the entire Undernet.
"I'm happy to serve you."
Elijah smiled, and his gaze fixed ahead with a serious expression.
Cordelia felt a headache coming on. She didn't need him to act this
way.
Elijah boldly carried her all the way back to their place.
Entering the courtyard, Elijah looked around and found it clean and
tidy, somewhat satisfying.
However, compared to the living conditions Cordelia had in the city
before, this place was still quite far behind.
He felt sorry for Cordelia.
Once they entered the house, Elijah asked, "How long do you plan to
stay here?â
"I'm leaving for the next destination next week,â Cordelia replied
honestly.
Elijah raised an eyebrow as he looked at her. And he suddenly realized
that Cordelia was really working seriously and not avoiding him.
Cordelia sat down lazily by the bedside, leaning against it.
Seeing Elijah lost in thought, she said, "Although it's been said many
times before, Elijah, I want to tell you again, don't waste your time on
me. I won't marry again."
Elijah's eyes darkened.
Eason had heard that Cordelia didn't want to get into marriage.
Cordelia didn't believe Eason would give up his right to marriage for
her.
Eason walked over to the bed, took a chair, and sat across from her,
leaning forward and looking at her.
"That's alright. If you don't want to get married again, we can spend our
whole lives in love.â
Cordelia laughed angrily.
"So, no matter how I refuse you, it won't work? You just have to keep
clinging to me?" Cordelia asked in response.
Elijah looked at her seriously. "Cordelia, it was you who brought up the
divorce, and out of respect for your decision, I went through with it. But
deep down, I don't want to."
Cordelia lowered her gaze, unable to determine if his words were true
or false.
Seeing her silence, Elijah continued, "At least give me a chance to
spend some quality time with you. If we're truly not compatible, then I'll
give up."
Cordelia shook her head and said, "Elijah, you should take responsibility
for your family."
"I am already responsible enough! When necessary, I'm willing to share
the honor and disgrace of my family, but they can't control me or
manipulate me."
Elijah seemed to have thought everything through clearly, explaining it
convincingly.
Coincidentally, Cordelia understood and sympathized with him in this
regard
"I won't interfere with your choices, so please respect my decision to
stay away from you."
Cordelia was tired and unwilling to risk anything or give anything more,
including her feelings.
Suddenly, Elijah stood up, gripping her shoulders tightly. "Cordelia, you
said you wanted to stand side by side with me and become a couple
that everyone envies. You said that!"
Cordelia was stunned, her pupils trembling intensely.
She couldn't help but worry about whether Elijah had discovered her
past secret.
