624. A Heart Calls Out To Another

A Woe of The Fallen Star emerged from the cascading light. Golden eyes replaced what would be moons in the night sky, save that the darkness was replaced with a blinding blanket of a blue-white sky.

“We’re not being attacked by the Markers. Our only enemy is a Corrupted Michaela.”

“Corrupted? I-Is it close to a Faux Angel?”

A surprising term left the mouth of the child.

“I’m not too sure myself. But my eyes are telling me that your mother is a Corrupted. Voice. You should know the difference since you also come from the past. I won’t pry how you and Micheala didn’t lose your memories after becoming an Archetype, so the least you can do is tell me what the hell I’m looking at.”

Faux Angel

“Proto-Corrupted… You’re referring to the transformation of the physical self, rather than something from the heart or psyche being pulled out?”

The transformations of the Markers suddenly made sense.

After all, the Arbiter attempted to elevate all humans into Angels, resulting in the failure that were the Markers of a Price of Paradise. It occurred to Frost that the Consanguinities could be similar in a way as well, or at least resemble some fragment of it.

It wracked her mind to no end knowing that the Corruption was just the tip of the iceberg. Dare she say, it was not even the end of this madness knowing that the Impuritas now sought to become Stars.

“Angels and Faux Angels. Corrupted and Faux Corrupted, which are the Impuritas. The Curse of the Descent is probably closer to one becoming a Faux Angel, rather than an Impuritas because it’s not a piece of them coming to light.”

Smaller pieces were fit together as a scream split the world into two halves. One was a dome of darkness, and the other of light.

The Beast Forever resided in the twilight of both darkness and light. It was as if it was weighing its options between right and wrong. Tears forever tumbled into the world beneath, shaping the world like a proto-Earth.

“Physical forms of Angels and Faux Angels. And the shape of our inner selves and the world as the Corrupted and Impuritas… Voice, we’re headed to something truly fucked up, aren’t we?”

“For my sake? I never asked to be kept in the dark. They edged me with constant promises of ‘time will tell’ and ‘I don’t remember’. It doesn’t benefit anyone aside from them. Dark Memoria’s at least allowed me to come this far.”

The Princess overhead everything but still did not understand a word.

“That now begs the question on what became of the Arbiter. Did she Corrupt from eating the Apple?”

“I don’t know. But she wasn’t angry. My mother… She never once tried to hurt me!”

A golden barrier surrounded them, erasing stray droplets that dared to approach.

The light of the Genesis Stone grew brighter as if resonating with her heightened emotions.

“This is the power of the Genesis Stone?”

“You should know because you know everything! I know what mother did, but I never knew this was how she felt!”

The light of the barrier intensified in tune with her voice. Small, golden beads collapsed from the barrier and entered her like droplets of courage.

The Voice paused ominously as Frost tried to gather her thoughts. The miracle of the Princess’ golden shield shook her. Frost reached a hand towards the barrier. It allowed her arm to pass through, but shredded pieces of her garb the moment it made contact.

Teary eyes stared back at the ones far above Frost.

She silently called out to her sorrowful mother.

“Miss Frost. What is mother like right now?”

“Safe, and someone who doesn’t know how to properly say what’s on her mind!”

The answer satisfied the girl. It was all she needed to hear to be convinced that Frost really did know her mother.

“Then if she really is still alive –!”

“W-Woah!?” Frost’s body became light suddenly.

She was so light in fact that a single step caused her to leap across chasms as though she was weightless. The world was under the influence of the Princess’ whims, sanctioned by the immense power of the Genesis Stone.

“– And all of this is what she felt in the past –!”

The falling tears began to clear up like the sunshine that followed the storm. Frost was prepared to lock horns in combat with another Corrupted once again. However, that did not seem to be necessary.

“– Then I want to make how I feel known to her too!”

//////// ////////

“Wouldn’t that mean regular people can do this too…?” Frost was nearly at a loss for words. The ability to change the rules of reality was something that only the Aberrations of Elysia were cable of within their sacred spaces.

Was this a glimpse of the infinite potential of the Genesis Stones?
