Chapter 55

Lan Qianyu took a three-hour flight and arrived at Chiang Mai, Thailand. She found a hotel to stay in in peace, unwilling to meet anyone.

Xiao Han did not look for her. He knew her too well. Everytime she encountered a setback, she would want to have some peace on her own, and would not want to be disturbed by anybody. Thus, he would patiently wait for her, until the day she returned.

Time passed quickly. In the blink of an eye, twenty-five days had passed. The day after tomorrow was the day Ye Yan and Shen Ningruo were getting married. He had not returned yet. Shen Ningruo had used various means to find him but to no avail. It was making her so anxious that she was about to go mad.

That evening, Shen Ningruo went to the company again to find Leng Ruobing. Red-eyed, and choking with sobs, she stammered, “Mommy, there’s still no news about Yan. Looks like this wedding won’t happen. What should I do?”

“The wedding day is only the day after tomorrow, why are you so anxious?” Leng Ruobing was busy going through documents, and did not take Shen Ningruo’s words seriously.

“How can I not be anxious, what if he doesn’t come back?” Shen Ningruo snatched Leng Ruobing’s document away. “Mommy, can you not always be so busy with work? This is an important event in my life!”

Leng Ruobing raised her eyes and looked at her. “Ye Yan will be back. Today, relatives of the Ye Family have already taken a private plane to come to Port Capital in preparation to attend the wedding. How can he not turn up?”

“Really? The Ye family’s relatives are coming?” Shen Ningruo was overjoyed. “That’s fantastic. That’s fantastic. When will they arrive? I’ll pick them up.”

“I will arrange these things. At that time, our entire family must go there to welcome them.” Leng Ruobing snatched back her document and continued to go through it. “Go back, don’t stay here and bother me.”

“Oh, then I’ll go back first. Thank you, mommy.” Shen Ningruo hugged Leng Ruobing and gave her a kiss. She then left in high spirits.

Raising her eyes, Leng Ruobing watched her back view. A myriad of thoughts ran through her mind. They were both her daughters. One was doted on by many people, and had everything handled for her. While the other one had to work to earn money even for her studies. And now, she even had to receive such suffering. It was hard just thinking about it.

If Qian Yu was not as stubborn as her father, if she could accept her as her mother, perhaps her life would not have turned out like this.

Qiao Qing carried two bags of frozen food back and was about to put them in the refrigerator, when she suddenly heard the sound of running water coming from one of the bedrooms. She asked nonchalantly, “Shen Xin, aren’t you going to practice piano today? Why are you back so early?”

“Don’t like that I came back earlier? Then should I come back a little later?”

A teasing voice rang out, and Qiao Qing was startled. When she turned back, she saw Lan Qianyu wearing floral pajamas and standing at the door of the room, wiping her hair dry. There was a bright smile on her face. She was still the same person she was. After grieving, she had regained her energy. She concealed all her scars and gradually let things settle down. Forget whatever should be forgotten, and pay back whatever should be paid back.

“Qianyu!” Qiao Qing burst into tears of excitement, and dashed over to hug her, “You’re finally back. Finally back! I was so worried about you.”

“Silly, I’m fine.” Lan Qianyu patted her shoulder and smiled softly. “You should know, I’m a cockroach that’s too tough to be defeated. Nothing can stump me.”

“That’s good, that’s good.” Qiao Qing nodded her head while choking with sobs, “Qianyu, no matter what happens, you must remember, you still have me. I’ll always be your best friend.”

“My best friend yet only using frozen dumplings to repay me?” Lan Qianyu deliberately pouted, “So heartless.”

“Hee hee, quickly change your clothes. I’ll take you out to eat steak!” Qiao Qing pushed her into the bedroom. “Call Lei Lie and Shen Xin and ask them along too. It’s only fun if us four musketeers eat together.”

“Okay.”
