Chapter 10
Mercy
The next morning, Nikolai decided to give everyone a break on building the east wing. They were making great improvements already and it should be a couple more days before the east wing was completely done.
The warriors lounged around on the field and playfully threw punches and fought around. A small circle formed around them. Roza and Anna walked out with Maksim to watch them fight. Nikolai was amongst the group, shirtless. He watched as his warriors fought.
âHow about you and I go next?â One of Nikolaiâs female elite warriors by the name of Alexis asked boldly as she stood next to Nikolai.
He shrugged. âBeat Ethan and Dylan and you will get a chance to fight me.â
Her eyes lit up in anticipation and she slowly approached the two warriors fighting in the middle. They saw her approach and broke apart. One of them wiped the sweat from his eyes and glanced up at his Alpha. Nikolai nodded his approval and they began circling the female.
Roza felt excitement as she watched them fight. When she was in her old pack, her father used to teach her how to fight. He was an under looked warrior in the pack. His age made him wise and his fighting skills were effective in taking an opponent down fast. It has been a long time since she felt a good adrenaline rush.
Nikolai watched as Alexis easily took down Dylan and Ethan with ease. The men groaned on the ground as she patted her hands and looked up at him a little brazenly. Nikolai could feel his skin crawl with distaste. It has always been this way - ever since Roza. He had no urge to sleep with other women.
Three years of abstaining from sleeping with other women was also what sent him to be a pretty cold and ruthless Alpha. It is natural for wolves to feel the need to release, but it wonât happen when your wolf refuses to sleep with anyone besides his mate. Alexis walked up to Nikolai and rocked back and forth on her feet.
âWell, Alpha?â She asked.
Nikolai moved forward toward the inside of the circle. Slowly he stretched his muscles, his arms and chest flexing as he removed any aches from his body. Roza was surprised that Nikolai had agreed to fight the female warrior.
They circled each other until Alexis ran and hooked one leg between Nikolaiâs and one arm around his neck in an attempt to take him down to the ground, but he saw what she was doing and flipped her over before she could. She fell flat to the ground and stood up again, brushing at her butt. A few men wolf whistled and she grinned before she threw punch after punch at Nikolai in an attempt to faze him and find a way to make contact with him.
They fought for a while until Alexis did something that had everyoneâs eyes widening in surprise and had Rozaâs body rigid with jealousy. She climbed onto Nikolaiâs back and wrapped her legs around his waist. It was intimate and Roza bit her lips so hard it bled.
A snarl filled the air and everyone stopped to look and see where it was coming from. They all turned to Roza. She didnât realize she was issuing out a warning until it left her lips. Her hand clamped over her mouth. Nikolaiâs eyes narrowed in on her in confusion.
âWhat are you doing?â Anna leaned in to whisper in her air.
Alexis still clung onto Nikolaiâs back and fury pumped in her chest. She couldnât control her wolf that came roaring to the surface. Slowly, she walked forward.
Alexis slowly detangled herself from Nikolai and faced Roza. A little smirk crawling on her face and Roza knew she was trying to make Roza even angrier.
âRoza.â Nikolai warned.
Roza couldnât hear. Her eyes were solely on the female who disrespected her. Her wolf on the surface, she hunched a little and rose up her hands. Alexis scoffed and rose up her hands ready to fight Roza.
Alexis took the first swing and Roza lean back away from the attack, pushing Alexisâs arm away from her body. Alexis went flying to her right and turned around with a glare. Now everyone was paying attention. No one knew that Roza could fight and all were eager to see just how good she was when fighting against one of their elites.
Nikolai knew that Rozaâs wolf was at the surface. Her eyes had changed colors and her back was rigid. He can see the jealousy and anger that pushed Roza forward to challenge Alexis. Quite honestly, if it was him and he saw her in that situation, the man that was fighting with her would be dead already. Just the thought of it made his blood boil, but he couldnât allow her to make a fool of herself. Alexis was one of his best warriors.
However, watching his mate fight, he could see she was playing the defensive mode. Trying to tire Alexis out first, because if she attempted an offensive attack, Alexis might catch it before she could land. A good tactic and it made Nikolai wondered who taught her to fight.
Soon Alexis was breathing hard and in a last attempt not to embarrass herself she pushed her body into Roza, knocking Roza down to the ground. She straddled Roza and began throwing punches. Rozaâs hand came up to block her upper body from harm using her forearms.
Nikolai was about to step in and remove Alexis when Roza managed to flip Alexis down to the ground with her hip. Quickly, Roza came on top and threw a hard punch at Alexisâs face. The sound of bones cracking underneath had everyone cringing.
âÑ Ð²Ð°ÑÐ¸Ñ (Enough)!â Nikolai had to stop it before it got any worse, but Roza couldnât hear. She threw punch after punch until Alexis was bloodied underneath her. Nikolai moved to grab Roza around her arms and lifted his mate up away from an unconscious Alexis.
Roza snarled and tried to rip away from Nikolai, but he wrapped his arms around her tightly and carried her somewhere private. By the time they were away from the group and hidden in the trees she had calmed down. He placed her on the ground and she ripped her body away from his. She stalked toward a tree and leaned her palms against it as she steadied her breathing.
âWhat the hell was that?â Nikolai asked.
She threw him a fierce glare. âGo away.â
âNot until you tell me what-â
She pushed away from the tree immediately and walked towards him and pushed against his chest hard, he took a staggering step back.
âYou!â She jabbed her finger at his chest. âWhy do you do this to me?!â
âWhat the hell are you talking about?â Nikolai growled.
âÑ Ð½ÐµÐ½Ð°Ð²Ð¸Ð¶Ñ ÑÐµÐ±Ñ (I hate you)! Ñ Ð½ÐµÐ½Ð°Ð²Ð¸Ð¶Ñ ÑÐµÐ±Ñ (I hate you)! Goddess, Я Ð½ÐµÐ½Ð°Ð²Ð¸Ð¶Ñ ÐµÐµ (I hate her)!â She snarled behind Nikolai as she glared at the distinct group now dispersing. Her Russian coming out more as she was more angry.
âWhy did you fight Alexis?â Nikolai redirected her anger back at him. She was a fiery goddess. He couldnât believe that even when she was angry, she was able to give him a hard on. Fuck.
She glowered and exhaled. âYou told me you wanted to try.â
He didnât answer her and she whipped around to look at him. âпÑавилÑнÑй(Correct)?â
He nodded feeling a little out of place with his mateâs anger. She was livid and he has never seen this side of her.
She walked back towards him and jabbed him hard in the chest with her index finger. âThen why did you allow that - that thing to touch you like that?â
âShe was only fighting me, Roza.â Nikolai reasoned.
âдеÑÑмо (bullsh*t)!â She growled and walked away from him again. âJust go away.â
âNo.â He retorted.
She scoffed and ran a hand through her hair. âGoddess, you really want to piss me off.â
âTell me why did you go after Alexis?â He asked again.
She turned her head to look at him - really look at him. Goddess, he was sexy as hell standing there shirtless with sweat glistening off his chest. She couldnât figure out if she wanted to stab his eyes out, or jump his bones right now. She was still filled with raging jealousy and she wasnât done with her emotions yet, but she will die before she admitted she was jealous.
âBecause she needed to be knocked down a notch.â Roza snapped and stalked away from Nikolai.
He watched her go before turning to go back down the hill. Dimitri met him halfway with a grin on his face. His hand stuffed in his jeans.
âWow, she really fought well.â Dimitri chimed.
Nikolai nodded. âSheâs a skilled fighter which makes me wonder where she learned it from and how she was not a warrior in her previous pack.â
âYou are born into the roles in your pack. If she wasnât a warrior, it is because her father wasnât one.â Dimitri pointed out. âWhy donât you ask her?â
âShe looked like she was about to bite my head off.â Nikolai huffed.
Dimitri chuckled. âOh yes. She did. She was furious.â
âJealous?â Nikolai asked even though he could see very well she was.
Dimitri nodded and whistled. âAnd I thought you were the only one who had that in you.â
Nikolai felt happy that Roza was jealous of him. After all, jealousy means she still wants him right? He smirked as her angry face replayed in his mind. Oh, she was jealous.
