Chapter 64: Family Time
Switching to brothers
I never knew how much energy it took to skip. I was winded two minutes after I began. I really need to get into shape.
I walked down the halls, noticing all the Christmas decorations that were put up in my absence. I didn't really have time to look at them since I was trying to get as far away from my brothers as possible. But now, walking down the halls, I took time and studied them. They weren't just decorations. Some of them were pictures of the boys in holiday outfits, playing in the snow, and opening presents. From all I've heard of my father, I never would've took him for someone who would take a million pictures of every single thing the boys did. Then again, he did lose his daughter at a young age.
After about ten minutes of constant walking and occasionally shouting their names, I grew tired of it. So, I settled for the next best thing.
Texting!
I told them all to send their order to Luke. Only Jesse and Zack answered-no surprise there-though James and Caden read the message.
I had somehow made my way into the theater room. No way was I about to do more physical activity. Instead, I sighed and plopped down onto the couch and opted to watch TV.
Jesse's holler for food interrupted my Nailed It! episode. I knew it would take me at least four minutes to cross the house because one; it's a ginormous house, and two; I'm slower than lion in water.
But that didn't stop me as I raced across the house, trying to make sure my food would still be warm when I ate it. Yes I was huffing and puffing when I finally made it to the dining room but who cares? My food is still hot.
The boys around me were loud, ready to get their food. I quickly got mine and sat down. I saw Caden laughing with Zack. "Caden," I said, "aren't you supposed to be taking Sasha out on a date?"
"No actually," he paused to chew, "she had homework."
I raised an eyebrow. "So why didn't you stay with her?"
His eyes widened slightly as he gulped down another bite of food. "Um, I actually uh, don't know." His voice quieted as he stopped talking.
"Caden, seriously? You had one job." The unimpressed look on my face made him look down at his plate in what one would say shame.
"Well when's your next date Lidia?" Jesse asked me.
My face heated up as I quickly thought of an answer. "Whenever he asks me on one," I replied a bit too quickly. "Hey, where is he by the way? Last time I saw him he was in my room."
"He had to go home or something." James mumbled, food hanging out of his mouth.
I narrowed my eyes at him. His face held no emotion as he stared back. "Did he have to? Or did you make him?"
He slurped up the noodles he was eating. "No comment."
"James are you kidding me! Seriously it's not even a big deal! When are you going to get a girlfriend!" I cocked my head.
"Oooo she told you!" Caden sang. All of the boys were watching this exchange with smiles adorning their faces.
"I don't want nor need a girlfriend thank you very much." James crossed his arms and tilted his head like mine.
"And why not? You can have your pick of girls. Just say the word. I'm sure I can find you one within three minutes of walking into school." I said with my arms.
"Three minutes? That's way too long." He scoffed and looked away to our brothers, as if saying 'get a load of this guy'.
"Yeah. Two and a half of them will be me gathering the courage to walk up to them. Duh." I explained as if it were common knowledge. Well it actually was. Even without my well crafted facade I can't walk up to people. Social anxiety is a bitch.
A very nasty bitch.
"Lidia, we really need to teach you how to be a White don't we?" Jesse interjected.
I looked over at him. "I already know how to be a White, thank you very much." I said smugly. If I'm being honest, I'm more of a White than they are. Luke said it, I have almost all of Father's traits.
"Really? How?" Caden deadpanned. Isn't funny how all of our arms are crossed? Every time I see or interact with my brothers, someone's arms have to be crossed. I don't understand it.
"Well for one, I'm pretty sure I am legally a psychopath, and according to Luke, dad was also legally a psychopath. Since dad was a White, and I have most of his traits, I am a White." I said confidently.
Luke sighed and rubbed his temples. Zack looked like he was a toddler and had just got caught drawing on the wall, Caden's eyes were wide, James had a knowing look, and Jesse? Jesse just looked like a confused little puppy.
"Lidia, not the time." Luke stated while rubbing his temples.
"Do they not know?" I curiously raised an eyebrow. One would think they would know. I mean, they did live with him their whole lives.
"Not all of them." He finally looked at me. After his declaration in my room earlier, I saw him in a new light. I noticed all the faint wrinkles of tiredness. The slight frown he wore. His eyebrows slightly drooped.
"Oh uhm...sorry." I said with a sheepish smile.
"Wait what? I'm so confused." Jesse said after a few heart beats.
"I'm basically the same exact person as dad and since he was legally a psychopath, I'm legally a psychopath. That's about it." I rushed out.
"Okay well hold on-"
"Let's play a board game!" Zack clapped his hands together and effectively cut off Jesse with not only his words but a look.
"Why? You all know I'm just going to beat you all." James oh-so confident answered.
"Actually I am the Twister champion, just to let you all knows." Jesse, proud of his 'title', said.
Caden snorted. "Last time I checked, you got out before James." He crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow.
"What? I have zero memory of this. Zilch. Nada. Non. No." Jesse tried to argue.
"Um I can attest to that! Jesse, sorry dude but you lost." All hope was lost for him when I delivered the final blow to his nonexistent championship.
"I refuse to play Twister! It's so boring and I'm always the one that spins the little thing-a-majigger!" Caden said, coming back into the conversation.
"Thing-a-majigger?" Luke said this time with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes! Haven't you guessed watch The Cat In The Hat?" He said like it was common knowledge.
"Um not since I was like eight no." Jesse answered.
"What?! What have you guys been doing with your lives?!" He exclaimed.
Being abused.
"Living them?" James answered our questionable brother.
"Obviously not to the fullest if you haven't watched The Cat In The Hat." He scoffed.
"Okay enough! Let's play Twister!" Zack stood up.
Probably going to lose but hey, you only live once.
No excuse for me not posting. Please forgive me. Also, pray for me bc basketball play offs is coming up and embarrassingly, my school girls team hasn't gone to state in like 20 years. Wish us luck! I hope you enjoyed it and don't forget to vote, comment, and obviously like! :)
