Chapter 36: "You did what?!"

Switching to brothers

Caden's POV

"Get up." I yelled through their doors.

"No! Go the fuck away!" James yelled back.

"It's been five days! You guys are fine!" I yelled back, rattling the door.

"Fuck you!" Jesse yelled.

These idiotic boys I call my brothers have been in their rooms the whole week. All because they want people to think they're all high and mighty. Lidia asked them if they wanted her to coverup their bruises with her makeup but I think they're milking this thing as much as they can.

I don't have time for this. Well I do since Sasha's hanging out with friends or whatever. I don't really pay attention to her friends since they all look at me hungrily.

I got all my work done. This woman's husband is in jail for abusing the shit out of her and I'm the prosecutor. If you ask me to defend someone, I will. If you ask me to ruin someone's whole life, I will. I just don't do it without a little charge.

Luke is always at work or going on some mission or something and guess who's always behind him? Zack. What an ass kisser. This week Zack took Lidia to this ghetto place we've known since we were born. I took Sasha there on our sixth date actually.

Like our normal family routine with a little out of place hairs, Lidia at school, Luke at work, me babysitting, and Zack handling all the minor illegal stuff. I don't really get into that since I'm a lawyer, obviously.

Ring. Ring. "Hello?" I grumbled.

"Caden, me and Luke are on our way to the school. Meet us there." Zack said hurriedly and hung up.

"W-what?!" I yelled into the stupid phone. It can't be the twins since they're at home. It can't be Lidia si- oh shit. It's Lidia.

"Boys! Get out of there right now!" I yelled and rattled the door with the force of a whale.

The door opened and Jesse came out saying "Jesus Christ. Calm down."

"Shut up and get in the car. You too James.", and I ran downstairs, "Well? C'mon!"

Jesse blinked out of his shocked state and grabbed a hoodie and threw it on and sped walked towards me. James came out and looked around, wondering what was happening. He saw me practically sprinting to the car.

"Okay, okay I'm coming." He said.

I grabbed the keys to my Porsche and hurried up and started it. "Mind telling us what the hell is going on?" Jesse asked angrily.

"I would tell you but I don't know myself. All I know is that Zack told me to hurry to the school." I explained.

Immediately I saw James's jaw clench. "Did someone post another picture?!" He said darkly with so much force.

"How the hell would I know. Didn't I just tell you I know nothing about this."

I drove way over the speed limit to the school but I could care less. My sister is in some sort of trouble and I need to get to her. I saw some people jogging stop and stare at me in bewilderment at the speed I was driving my car.

We pulled into the school parking lot and I parked next to where Zack's car was. They were almost to the door when I took out my keys and sprinted to them, asking whatever question I could think of.

"What happened?"

"Is she okay?"

"Did someone post another picture?"

Eventually Luke put his hand up, signaling for me to stop since we were at the Principals office door. The twins were behind me and I was behind Zack and Zack was behind Luke. No one ever walked in front of him.

Luke slammed the door open and we all fell into step behind him. "Where is my sister?" He asked calmly. I don't know how he could be calm in a situation like this.

The receptionist looked him and smiled seductively as she licked her lips. "In Principals offi-"

"Okay thanks." Zack cut her off and power walked over there.

When we saw Lidia in the chair with her face all broken, parts of my heart chipped off. The other part of me swelled with anger. "Lidia, oh my. Are you okay?" Zack asked worriedly.

"I'm fine. It's nothing, honestly."

I scanned the big, spacious room for the kid who dare lay his hands on my baby sister. I found him behind his parents. What a wimp.

"I want her expelled!" His mother exclaimed.

"Now now Rhonda. Let's all just think this through and ca-" Her husband began.

"No! She's the one who started it, she should be the one to be expelled!" Her mother cut him off.

Lidia was pale white. I can see she's never been in trouble. If you looked hard enough you could see her start to lightly tremble. Lidia never trembled. She once told me she couldn't tremble since she was so good at makeup. This has to be bad.

"How about we let the kids explain themselves. Then we can come to a decision." Luke explained calmly like he's been in this situation before. Well I mean he has but nothing like this. The boys we knew and still know are going to get in fights. This is way unexpected.

"Yes, Mr. White is right. Let's just take a moment to breathe and then we can make a decision." The Principal explained. I don't know his name nor do I care to find out.

The kid started to talk. "We were playing football, flag of course, and then out of nowhere she attacked me! She started to punch and hit me, so I did what any normal person would do in my situation. I hit back." The kid ended.

The Principal glanced over at Lidia. "Miss White, is this true?"

Surely it's not. Lidia won't even harm a fly. Without being provoked I mean. She looked at him dead in the eye and said "Yes."

"You did what?!" Zack gasped, his eyes widened.

"I threw the first punch." She finished calmly.

All of us were shocked into silence. What could we do? "Well then it's settled. Miss White you'll b-"

"But not without reason." She interrupted calmly. I would by lying if I said I wasn't afraid of my kid sister in that moment.

"Excuse me?" The Principal said, confused out of his damn mind. We all were buddy.

"He was teasing me, pestering me about the stupid photo. Then he told me I would be nothing. Only a mere shadow of my brothers. I couldn't take it anymore so I punched him. But, I was so overdriven with anger, that I couldn't stop."

I swear I saw her in a new light. It was so crazy. Her face gave nothing but her eyes oh her eyes. They had this psychotic look in them. They were glazed over with something I never thought I would see ever again. She had dad's eyes. They were the same exact eyes he would get when he was doing something that involved violence.

By then Luke had told the boys to go wait in the hall. I know he didn't want the boys to see this because they would do one of two things; get angry and start swinging at someone or see their kid sister turn into our father. He couldn't let that happen.

"See! She she be in a mental asylum!"

I knew where this was going. I had to stop her before she got herself into even more trouble. I put my hand on her shoulder.

"No actually, she shouldn't. In all honesty this just sounds like a bad case of bullying and for the first time, someone stood up to it." I replied. I have no clue how I sounded so calm. I was seething. And to be quite frank, I was seriously about to deck this kid and his parents.

"Oh and do you think you know the law? I would like to remind you I'm-"

I cut her off. "Yes, yes I am familiar with the law seeing as I am a crime prosecuting-attorney. And feel free to press charges because nothing will happen." I explained steely.

The lady was dumbfounded. I could tell in all her years she had never been spoken to like that before. "Do us a favor and shut your trap before we press charges. Okay?" Zack said harshly.

Everyone in the room was either uncomfortable, confused, seething with rage, or dumbfounded . I was all four. "Lidia, go out into the hall and wait with your brothers. We'll sort this out." Luke told her. How he managed to keep his face calm is beyond me but I knew my brother. I could tell he was about to burst just like the rest of my brothers.

She didn't even hesitate to get up and walked out the door. The woman had obviously told her son something like that because he walked out too.

"Now, should we start with the expulsion?" Luke said, sitting down.

Lidia's POV

When I walked out I saw Jesse sitting on a chair and James pacing. It seems like all he does is pace. Both of their jaws looked like they were going to crack with all the pressure on them.

"Lidia! Oh my Lidia are you okay?" Jesse ran and embraced me.

I didn't hug him back though. My arms stayed at my side. He pulled back and looked at me all over, wondering why I wasn't hugging back.

"Lidia? Is something wrong?" He asked with his eyebrows scrunched in concern.

I snapped out of whatever trance I was in and smiled sheepishly. "Yeah uh, just kinda ashamed though."

"Oh darling why are you ashamed? You did nothing."

"But I did. I punched him. I beat him till he was black and blue. And I couldn't stop. No matter how hard I tried to, I just couldn't. "

Only then did they both notice my bruised knuckles. They looked like Carl's after he got done with my 'session'. I inwardly gasped, I look like Carl. I. Look. Like. Carl. What have I done? The realization of what I had done finally came to me. This time I gasped out loud.

"What have I done?!" I said, looking up at Jesse with worry.

"What have I done? I-Im just li-" and for the second time, I was about to blow the secret I tried so very hard to keep.

"Just like who?" James asked with an eyebrow raised and his eyes still dark.

I did the thing I do best. I lied. "Just like Keith. The guy who I beat up."

James and Jesse nodded their heads. "Yeah you'll feel like that the first time you get into one of these fights. But trust me, it goes away after the second or third one." Jesse tried to assure me in a weird, Jesse way.

"No it won't because it won't happen again.", Luke said, striding through the doors, "Come on Lidia."

I quickly followed after them. I couldn't speak. I couldn't say a single word. Not an apology. Not a reassurance. Nothing. And quite frankly, I was fine with that.

The car ride was a tense silence. Luke had made me go with him and him alone. All alone with Luke White with his jaw ticking and his eyes dark. Definitely not a sight you would want to see. He was in Zack's car but when he asked for the keys, Zack didn't hesitate and walked over to Caden's Porsche.

"Why?" He said.

"Why what?" I asked him confused.

"Why did you punch him? Why couldn't you stop when you did punch him?"

Great. Way to put me on the spot big brother. "I-I don't know."

"Well you must know since you're the one who threw the first one." He remarked.

"But I don't! I don't know! I never knew! Okay?! I couldn't stop and I don't know why!" I screamed.

Luke sighed. "I know why." He said quietly.

I snapped my head towards him. How could he know? All he knows is that when I punched him I couldn't stop. How could he know more when even I didn't know more?

"Care to share with the class?" I replied sarcastically.

He glanced over at me, unamused. He turned his head back to the road. "Father. You're just like him. In every aspect of your personality."

Father? Never once had I ever thought I could be like him. Hell, I never even thought about him and when I did, it was accompanied with my brothers or my mom. Never just him.

"What?" I asked curiously.

He continued to stare out in front of him and drive. "He always got a look in his eyes when he felt threatened or wanted to punch something or someone. You have that same look in your eyes." He explained.

I snorted. "Luke, that's impossible. I hate physical conflict and everything like that. Why would I have a look like that if I didn't even like it?" I asked.

He pulled into our driveway. He unbuckled and turn towards me. "I don't know. You tell me." And he left into the house.

I scoffed out loud. Who does he think he is comparing me to someone I have no memory of. I mean at least tell me if it's a good thing.

Luke's POV

"Did you tell her?" Zack asked.

"Technically no." I responded, pouring myself a glass of bourbon.

"Well then what the hell did you say?" Caden imputed.

Currently all the boys are in my office. My brothers, Spencer, Manny, Kai, and so on. Sasha decided she would take Lidia to the emergency room to get proper medical care. So I took that as a good time to talk with all of my inner circle.

All of us were overwhelmed with rage. Not a single one of us was calm. When Sasha saw Lidia she gasped out loud. She was just as surprised as us. When I got the call something happened my immediate thought was 'What did the twins do now?' But then I realized, they were at home.

"I told her how Father got the same look in his eyes when he wanted to punch something or got really angry." I explained calmly.

"So you didn't tell her the actual truth about the look in her eyes?" Manny asked.

"Correct." I said and began on some paperwork for the mafia.

"Okay good. We don't need that on our hands right now." Manny said.

Jesse looked around the room. "So no one's gonna tell us what the look means? No? Okay then. Well I have homework I have to do so goodbye and see you dinner. Ian, Kai, Kenzer, c'mon." Jesse said.

"I guess I have to go too. I have some work at the warehouse to get done. See you ladies tomorrow." Spencer said. Caden flipped him the bird and cackled.

Caden walked out with a wave. "I'm going to take a shower. See you in a bit."

I nodded and it was just me and Zack and James left. "Did you see it?" He asked worriedly.

I didn't look up. "Yes I did."

"It was so scary. She looked just like him. The posture and the way she talked. It was like his ghost had possessed her." Zack said.

"I know."

"Never would I have thought that Lidia would be the one to inherit it. I thought it would've been James or Caden or even you. But- but never Lidia." Zack said sadly.

It was quiet for a good five minutes. Just the sound of pen on paper then James decided to speak up. "What look did she get?"

It was quiet for a minute before I spoke. "She got the look Father got before he was about to kill someone."

"What do you mean?" James said, not able to comprehend what I had just said.

"Father used to get this look whenever he was killing or torturing or something like that. She had the same look in her eyes." Zack finished.

"So you mean if someone didn't stop her, she would've killed the kid?" James quizzed with his eyebrows raised.

"Yes. She would've killed him."

There! Well who guessed it? Lidia has a psychotic side to her. Before I end this, I would like to thank a few people.
