Chapter 30: "Thank you."

Switching to brothers

A/N for this chapter I'm going to put it in 3rd person POV. Don't worry, it'll go back to Lidia's POV soon.

3rd person POV:

The air was more than tense in dining room where the White siblings normally had their enjoyable meals. Today it was as if as soon as a sibling was done eating they would bolt straight out of that cursed room.

Lidia had been day dreaming while casually eating her soup, thinking if everything would've gone better if Sasha wasn't gone for college.

The twins were beating themselves up about the whole ordeal. They were so foolish to believe that their sweet, caring Lidia would do something that would not only make them a laughing stock, but would also make them lose something they tried so hard to build. Trust.

Caden's thoughts were much like Lidia's. What would I have said if she were there to calm me down? He thought. Caden and Lidia were the most alike. They both cared though barely showed it, they both hated to see family or close friends hurt and of course their shared love for blue bubblegum snow cone.

Zack's mindset had gone into overdrive. All he could think about was who that kid was and how he could make him pay for his sister's suffering. He saw the photos of her old house. She had told him what her life before was like. How could someone do something so mean? Especially if they didn't know that person's background. He mentally snorted. That's my whole job. He thought.

Luke's brain was calculating how someone and why someone would do this. He knew from the moment they said blowjob that it was a lie. When Lidia had explained it, it made even more sense as to why it wasn't the truth. He couldn't fathom why his younger brothers didn't believe their sister.

The dining room was silent. No noise could be heard except the sound of spoons and even they were oddly quiet. Someone had cleared their voice. "So Caden, when is Sasha coming home?" Zack asked.

While the two brothers tried to break the uncomfortable silence Lidia had enough. "So that's the first words you say! Not an apology? How messed up are you!"

Luke stared directly at Lidia and studied her. He could tell she was going to blow even more. In fact, she had been holding that in for a while.

"Excuse me?" Zack said. He had never been spoken to like that, especially not from Lidia.

"You heard me! First you accuse me of giving some a blowjob then you don't even apologize!"

"Lidia I-"

"No you don't! I was just as embarrassed as you were! As you are! Do you wanna know something? To that school I will always be known as the girl who was sucking on someone's di-"

"Enough!" Lidia was cut off by Luke's voice booming through the room. "Lidia come see me in my office. Now."

She rudely jumped out of her chair and stomped to Luke's office. Luke looked at all of them cooly. "I hope you're proud of yourselves." He said menacingly.

Lidia angrily walked into the office where Luke had killed someone's lover. "What do you want?" She sneered.

Luke sat down in his chair. He glanced up at her and said "To talk."

She scoffed. "Really? That's all? Here's a news flash: maybe I don't want to talk!"

Although it stung just a sliver, he held his composure. "Lidia, I knew from the start that you didn't do it. You can trust me."

Lidia was getting teary while staring at her eldest brother. Probably the one who cares the most. "That's the thing. I can't trust anyone. Turns out the only people I have fully trusted, don't trust me. So no, I do not want to talk to you."

Luke gave a knowing look. "Lidia, is this about Carl and your mother?"

Lidia snapped her neck to Luke. Was it? No it can't be. This is about my brothers. "No. This is about you guys not trusting me and thinking I would've done something like that." She said, sounding more steely than she had ever been.

Some part of Luke was proud. Proud that his little sister- for a few seconds- had him jittery. "Then don't trust me. Talk to me. Pretend I'm not even here." Luke said.

"Why would I do that?"

"Because Lidia we are family! Family sticks up for each other. They are there when another one is sad or hurt and right now you are both of those."

Lidia looked at him. Fully looked at him. She saw a man who loved and cared deeply for his family. A man who would take any bullet anywhere for any of his siblings. No questions asked.

She cracked open and lazily sat in the chair in front of him. "Fine. What do you want to know?"

"Tell me what's on your mind."

She deadpanned but gave in. "I'm mad. Mad at my brothers who I thought loved me and trusted me. Sad because if someone framed them I would believe almost right away. You want to know something? It took them to look at all the clues to figure out I was telling the truth! Can you believe that? I-I just want to be loved." Her voice cracked at the end.

"Lidia Candice White," she glanced at him, "I love you. Those boys love you. I trust you with my life. You are so special. You have made this family change in ways no one could ever imagine. Thank you." He said softly with a small smile. His enormous hand engulfed her cheek.

She had more tears than earlier. Not sad tears, happy ones. Someone said they loved her. She hasn't heard those words in a long time. She leaned into his touch.

That day Lidia Candice White felt what is was like to be loved. And she loved it.

She smiled up at him. No one could've had a more genuine smile.

"Thank you."

Sooo there you have it. A happy ending! Not that it's the end of the book; no there is much, much more. I hope you like it and don't forget to vote, comment and obviously like:)
