Chapter 13: Dinner with my new bestfriend

Switching to brothers

I think I should start helping out around here. Just incase the boys don't actually like me. I mean I don't think that James likes me very much. But then again he doesn't like very much people.

I tell the cook she can take a day off. At first she looked at me weirdly but after some serious convincing she complied.

I begin to make one of my specialties, chicken fried chicken with coconut cream pie as a dessert. It's easy really, just follow the directions and bam! It's cooked and amazing. I should write down the recipes on something.

As if they could read my mind which they probably could, they came down right as I was done setting everything down on the table. It's one of the best things I've ever cooked. Carl used to make me cook for him so I just so happened to be a good cook.

"Woah Chica, this looks so good. Did-did you do this?" Jesse asked in disbelief. I don't know why he asked it like that.

"Yes I did. It's chicken fried chicken with coconut cream pie for dessert." I said with a smile.

The boys looked astonished. Sasha couldn't believe what was before her eyes. And well Luke just looked like Luke. Some small part of me felt ashamed? Disregarded? Hurt? Why did I feel like this? Was it because he didn't show he liked it? Was it because he didn't like it?

My thoughts were interrupted as Jesse ran into the kitchen for plates. As fast as he ran I'm surprised he didn't drop and brake them.

All of them sat down and started to fill their plates. I sat in my usual spot, nothing new, but Sasha sat down right beside a happy Caden.

"So I'm guessing you two have met?" Luke's deep voice booms.

"Yes we have. We had a very good conversation, didn't we Pretty Girl?" Sasha looks at me smirking.

Huh no one has ever called me pretty. Carl and mom used to say that I was ugly and that I inherited my fathers genes.

"Pretty Girl?" I questioned.

"Yes Pretty Girl. You're pretty and a girl so therefore Pretty Girl" she explained.

"Oh and what was your conversation about?" Zack asked. "Anything specific?" I looked over at a smirking Sasha. She looked back at me and winked.

"Nope nothing really. And besides we can't just tell you. It's against girl code" she replied.

"Seriously Sash. Not even me? It has to be juicy if you can't tell us" Caden tried to reason with her, a piece of chicken hanging out of his mouth.

"Nope not even you. And no, it's not juicy so quit being so nosy. And don't talk with your mouth full, you look like a pig" she scolded. He shrunk down in his seat in defeat. I can't believe that someone just scolded Caden. The scariest of my brothers just got in trouble.

I looked over at Luke to see what he's thinking and as per usual, he has an expressionless face on. I continue to eat my food, not wanting to make my brothers mad.

"So Pretty Girl, I've heard you're starting school tomorrow." She said with playful disgust.

"Oh please don't remind me" I say to her, in the same playful disgust voice. We stare at each other both start to laugh and the boys just looked at us weirdly. I'm totally convinced she's my new best friend.

Luke's POV:

(This was right as they walked in)

I stared down at the food in slight disbelief. I can't believe my fourteen year old sister made all this. I glanced over at her to see if she really did make it and her face shows that she did.

She looks over at me. For once in my life I am speechless. Normally I don't say anything, my face says it all but this, this is just magnificent. Her eyes show a sliver of a fraction of hurt but she quickly covers it up with pride. But I saw it.

We sit and I ask her if she and Sasha have met. Sasha is a very lively, nice girl. Don't get me wrong she can throw a punch or two, I've been the subject of it, but she is normally very peaceful. I can see she's glad to have another girl around.

I can tell there's a conversation going on but I don't pay any attention to it. I just subtly stare at Lidia. She's looks embarrassed about what their saying but I'm not looking for that. I'm looking for that sliver of hurt in her. I wonder if  I'm the cause of it.

She looks normal. Her life wasn't very peachy when she lived with Sarah and that pig named Carl. Her house looked like a total wreck but other than that she's fine. I determine she's fine and go back to eating.

So what do you think? I hate school. In fact I have to do some homework that I've been procrastinating. I hope you like it and don't forget to vote, comment and obviously like :)
