“New Found Love.”

M/n Riddle is a sixteen-year-old boy about to begin his first school year at Hogwarts. As M/n sits in his seat on the Hogwarts Express train, he overhears someone saying the infamous name, Harry Potter. Looking over his shoulder, he sees a handsome, blonde-haired boy. As he listens to the blonde boy’s conversation with his friends, he overhears the boy and his friends talking about how annoying they find Harry and how much they dislike him. M/n can’t help but stand up and walk over to the group. “Hey, I heard you guys talking about that annoying Potter kid.” He says as he sees an empty seat and sits down to talk and converse with the group. The blonde boy and M/n make eye contact throughout the conversation. Finally, the train arrives at Hogwarts and they go their separate ways.

Over the next few months, M/n soon becomes an outcast at the school due to the reputation that follows his last name. No one wants to talk to or interact with him because rumors have been going around the school stating that Harry Potter is in grave danger and M/n wants to hurt him the way his father did. Little does everyone know, M/n has no intentions of hurting Harry. He is nothing like his father but no one cares enough to find that out for themselves. All he wants to do is find love and share that love with someone special.

The only person who has anything to do with M/n is the blonde-haired boy from the train, who M/n later learned was Draco Malfoy, head of the current Slytherin class. Draco and M/n have become very close friends throughout the year. However, the past few weeks have been interesting as M/n is beginning to realize he has started to have romantic feelings for Draco. As M/n begins to explore his feelings more he wonders if Draco feels the same or if he will forever be in the friendzone.

One afternoon while M/n is on the way to meet Draco for lunch, he walks around the corner of the hallway and hears Draco and his friends laughing and talking about someone who is ridiculous and can’t even live up to their father's reputation. M/n assumes they are talking about him and watches as Draco pales seeing him standing there visibly hurt and upset. “M/n wait!” Draco shouts as M/n turns around and runs to his dorm room.

Draco chases after M/n begging him to stop and to let him explain but M/n refuses to listen. Slamming the door to his dorm shut, M/n sits on his bed and sighs. Draco begins knocking on the door and shouting, “M/n please, just let me explain what happened.” “Go away Malfoy! I don’t want to hear it!” M/n shouts as he lies in bed and sulks. “Please just open the door. I’ll explain everything and if you still don’t believe it, I’ll leave you alone forever.” Draco says sadly as he waits for a response.

M/n opens the door and looks at Draco,  “How could you? You know I am nothing like my father. I don’t believe in hurting people, that’s not who I am.” “We weren’t talking about you, M/n. We were laughing about how my father reacted when I told him I didn’t want to follow in his footsteps. I would never do that to you.” M/n rolls his eyes and looks at Draco. “Yeah right. Like I’m supposed to believe that.” Draco sighs and runs his fingers through his hair as he gathers his confidence and says, “M/n I love you. As more than a friend, I would never hurt you like that and I won’t let anyone treat you like that either.” M/n looks at Draco shocked, “You what?” He stutters as he asks Draco to repeat himself. “I love you M/n Riddle and I hope you love me too because this newfound love is new to me and it’s gonna suck if you just want to be friends.” “I love you too Draco Malfoy.” The two boys laugh and hug each other as they accept their newly found love for each other.

As the new couple walks through the corridors of the school hand in hand, they put an end to the rumors and prove everyone wrong. Eventually, the rumors surrounding M/n and his intentions die down and he and Draco make plenty more friends who support and care for them. Together, they showed that sharing a last name with someone does not mean that you are the same as that person.
