The Billionaire's Bride

Thought of introducing a new point of view! Hehe...

------

ARJUN RATHORE

We were in Kartik's cabin when Tina, his PA announced, " Sir, Mr. Dixit and his team are here."

" Take them to the meeting room. I am on my way." Kartik dismissed her.

" So what do you think about the Jones deal?" he asked me.

" They don't have much to offer. I declined." he hummed.

" Dude?" I called out.

" Spit out. What's running in your mind?" he said, his eyes still focused on his Laptop.

I chuckled. Friends read minds.

My dad and kartik's dad are best friends and their friendship continued with us. I know him inside out and so does he, after all we are together since childhood. Back then when we were kids, both our families going together on a trip every summer holiday was like a custom, We never missed it even once. We did many things together the list is never ending.

" You and I, we both know that the clause could have been easily mended. You didn't necessarily had to get married for that. " I pointed out.

The clause that says the CEO of Oberoi Industries will have the monopoly of decision making only after he/she is married was framed by Kartik's Grandfather, founder of Oberoi Industries.

He was a man who believed in family values and always used to say, be it family or business, a man is incomplete with his women. He loved his wife a lot and more than that he respected her, acknowledged how she had supported him even when he was in ruins.

He believed love gives a man, the strength and courage to fight.

Kartik was his grandpa's pet and I must say he was the coolest grandfather one could probably get.

" I know that but I needed a reason." he shrugged.

" To marry her?" he stopped typing and shifted his gaze towards me.

" My intention was to protect her and that will be possible only if she is under my watch, near me. You know the Malhotras, They are dangerous! "

" You married her so that you could protect her, That's it! No other reason?" I smirked, pushing him to answer.

He avoided my gaze," Y- Yes. What else could be the reason. "

Maybe because you didn't want to lose her to someone else.

" That only your heart knows buddy." I stood and adjusted my suit.

" I have got a meeting. See you. " He nodded and I walked out of his cabin.

NAIRA

It's been 2 days since our court marriage and I am back at work for the project with Oberoi Industries.

" Good morning Mr. Dixit " Kartik greeted Dhruv as they shared a handshake.

He scanned the meeting room which was roughly filled with 15 people, just six from our side, rest were his employees. His eyes met mine for a few seconds and I smiled. He simply diverted his gaze and took the centre stage.

What the hell? He is behaving as if he doesn't even know me.

I remembered his words from our last night conversation.

" When at work, everything is professional. I prefer to keep personal and professional life separate from one another."

All that is fine, but he could have at least smiled back.

Arrogant jerk!

Everyone took their seats and the meeting began. A resort was their next launch. Their requirements and demands were kept forward.

Kartik was dressed in a Grey suit, perfectly tailored for his well built body, one of his hands shoved into his pant pocket while the other held the projector remote as he explained the basic plan. His voice held such an authority that all focus was directed only towards him when he talked, no one dared to interrupt him.

Concentrate on work naira, Not on him.

Yeah, I am listening!

Have I told you about his eyes, one would get lost in those hazel ones. Well I did, that night when he saved me. I noticed his every facial feature that night when he held me in his arms, his sharp jawline, thick eyebrows arched at perfect height, dimpled smile. He probably should have considered modelling.

Girl! Stop checking him out.

Oops! Did anyone see?

Nah... Never mind.

No doubt why the magazines portray him as the most eligible billionaire bachelor! Hot, undeniably handsome, charming, Filthy rich, famous, picture perfect looks etc etc.

Bachelor?

Actually not. But yes to the world he still is!

" Any questions?" I snapped out of my thoughts.

His question got a response of silence.

"Good so I hope everything is clear. Let's get on to work. " With that one by one in the room started walking out.

I collected my handbag and was the last to exit the room when he blocked my path.

" Isn't it wrong to check out your boss at work, Ms. Basu? " he whispered in my ears. My cheeks burned and my eyes widened.

" I-I... I wasn't checking you..." he smirked at me.

" And you aren't my boss, Mr. Oberoi !" I said challengingly.

" Well you work for me currently, so technically I am!" I rolled my eyes.

The room was empty. For his every two steps towards me, I took four steps back.

" W-What are you doing..." I found myself caged between the wall and his tall frame. His hands rested on both sides of the wall. He leaned forward, his lips were so close to my face that I panicked.

Is he going to kiss me?

" Don't ever roll your eyes at me, you will not like the consequences. " his voice was dangerously low.

He immediately moved away and walked out of the room. I didn't realise how fast my heart was racing.

After a good few minutes when I walked out of the room I was greeted by a voice,

" Hey Naira! " Arjun walked towards me.

" How's everything going?"

Your friend just gave me a heart attack.

" All good.." I replied.

" You are leaving? Where is Dhruv, I saw him in the morning."

" Dhruv had to go for an urgent meeting, some CEO stuff " He nodded.

" Wanna join me for some coffee? I know a great place. " I glanced at my watch. " Sure! " I smiled.

We reached the Cafe just opposite to the company building. The cafe owned by a young couple, was warm and welcoming. The wooden furniture and dim light works gave an aesthetic looks along with the handing indoor plants and pastel coloured walls.

We sipped on the coffee as we indulged ourselves in random talks.

" This place is indeed nice!" I appreciated.

" Where is that friend of yours?" I raised my brows.

" That angry bird?" he said and I laughed.

" Aditi couldn't come today, she had some last minute call. By the way she isn't that terrific. Once you get along with her, you will find her sweet ... And crazy." He chuckled.

" Naira, I know your marriage was really unexpected and you never got a chance to think twice about it. " he paused, his tone suddenly becoming serious.

" But give it a chance. It will take time for you both to get along and understand each other but give it a try." I nodded.

" I will always be there to help you, whatever it is. You can depend on me, as a friend, as a brother." his lips curved into a genuine smile.

" Thanks Arjun, means a lot " I reciprocated his smile.

Arjun is a great friend and above that a really good person.

" I will be there." He hung up the phone.

" I got to go! " he said and we shared a hug.

" Kartik is my best friend, I wish for his happiness. And I am pretty sure he will find his happiness in you. " He smiled at me before he left the cafe. His words stirring a mix of emotions in my heart.

-----------

The next two days flew by with me being busy with the sketches. I had to prepare the draft of the resort layout in a short time of two weeks.

Boss orders !!

Kartik left early this morning and hasn't returned yet, I haven't met him the entire day.

How does this man work all day?

Tomorrow is Saturday, the day I will be meeting his parents. Thinking about that makes me nervous honestly, I hope everything goes well tomorrow. I didn't know when I drifted to sleep waiting for him.

Next morning,

There was a knock on my door. The clock showed 10 am. The door opened to reveal Kartik standing there in his casuals.

What happened? Why does he look so tensed?

" What... " before I could ask him anything, he barged into my room pulling me towards the couch.

" Woah! Okay... What's wrong?"

" Naira, My parents will be here anytime. " I frowned.

I already know that.

" Naira I..." he stood up from the couch and started pacing here and there.

" Is everything okay?" I asked and he looked at me before taking a deep breath.

" My parents don't know anything about the deal thing. " He said.

" As in the reason behind our marriage? " he nodded.

" They know nothing about that night you were on the run or the talk we had the day after." He rubbed his forehead.

" Okay so we should maintain this secret. That's what is troubling you?" it came out as a question.

Not a big deal right.

" No that's not all. " he paused and sighed. " They think we were dating each other before we got married. " I blinked at him.

" What! Are you kidding me? " I exclaimed. " You are telling me this now. Kartik! They will be here anytime. "

" I know I know... It's just that I was held up in meetings yesterday.. It slipped out of my mind. "

" Damn! What are we going to do now? " I asked worried.

" I freaking don't know! " He started pacing again throwing his hands in the air.

' Ting Tong! ' The Door bell rang.

Oh no! They are here...
