When Alexander came back, he saw Luna sitting on the sofa fiddling with the televisionâs remote control.
Her pale face was carrying a stern expression without a smile. It seemed that she hadnât even realized that he was home.
He removed his coat and gave it to Mrs. Niles. Alexander stood his ground and asked as he pointed his chin at Luna, âWhatâs with her?â
Mrs. Niles whispered as she covered her mouth with her hand, saying, âAfter you left, the madam has been like that. Albert and I have asked her twice, but she didnât want to say anything.â
Alexander nodded and sat down right next to Luna. He asked, âSomeone made you unhappy?â
She was still quite chirpy in the morning. It had only been a while and he felt that she had changed into another person?
Luna finally regained her senses after she heard Alexanderâs voice. âYouâre back?â She asked.
Alexander gave her a faint smile and said, âWhat are you thinking about? Youâve completely closed yourself up.â
When she saw Alexanderâs handsome face closing in under the light, Lunaâs bad mood slightly improved.
She was fine. But not that fine.
At least she still had Alexander, whom no one else could get, right?
âMy stepmother called me this afternoon. She used my dadâs number,â Although Luna didnât want to call him Dad, she couldnât change her bloodline. She had no choice but to give in. âMy dad was hoping that I would go to the Oaks to explain so that Eve could marry into their family.â
Alexander asked with a scowl, âYou promised her?â
Luna nodded and said, âShe wanted to have a fairytale romance with Clarence, right? Then Iâll let her marry! When Clarence is in prison, Iâll then ask her if she regrets her decision! Not to mention that you asked the cops to delay the investigation for this, isnât it?â
Alexander pursed his lips and said, âBut I didnât expect her to be so shameless to ask this of you.â
Originally, he had wanted to do something first so that Eve could be taught a lesson. He hadnât expected that Flora would look for Luna instead.
This was beyond his expectations.
âItâs fine. This isnât your fault,â Luna sat on the sofa holding her knees together, looking so small because of it. âItâs just that I didnât feel really comfortable about this. No! Thatâs not right! I should say I feel disgusted about this!â
Although she was not the original, the pain that the original had experienced still remained within this body.
If she could make a choice, she would probably choose to quickly and easily eliminate all these people just like in her past life.
No one would know about it, and she didnât need to be worried about any trouble.
But, no!
She was no longer Zenthiaâs number 1 assassin. She was Luna Brooke, and she had to obey the law and order of this place.
Alexander stroked her long hair and said, âItâs fine. After dinner, Iâll bring you somewhere nice.â
When his hand was placed on her head, she felt at peace for some reason. Luna then turned and asked, âSomewhere nice? Is it one of those kinds of lavish places?â
â..â
After a moment of silence, Alexander massaged her head and said, âWhat are you thinking about? Am I really that kind of person in your eyes, hm?â
Luna let out a laugh and finally showed him a smile.
Today, Mrs. Niles specially made her favorite sweet and sour fish. Luna took in the scent and felt her appetite growing.
âMrs. Nilesâs fish dish is the best,â Luna said as she carefully removed the bones. She then couldnât help but ask Alexander, âWhy arenât you eating? You donât like fish?â
Alexander shook his head and said, âIâm allergic to it. Even if I like it, I canât eat it.â
âAh!â Luna looked at him with sympathy. âDoesnât that make you miserable?â
âTrue,â Alexander took a sip of red wine and then said in a deep tone, âItâs very miserable especially when the thing you want to eat is just right in front of you.â
Luna coughed and stopped saying anything.
Why would he say something so lewd at any time of the day?! That was so weird!
When Alexander saw her expression, he smiled as he lowered his head.
It seemed like the little girl was still quite easy to take care of!
After their meal, Alexander had the butler give him his coat. He then turned to her and said, âCome on, time to go on a trip.â
Luna looked at the proper suit that he was wearing and glanced at the crumpled T-shirt that she was wearing. She then turned and said, âIâm going to change first. Give me a few minutes! Iâll be quick.â
âAlright, Iâll wait.â
When Luna ran up the stairs, Alexander broke into a smile as he looked at her figure.
The butler then said with a smile, âEver since the madam moved in, this place finally has the looks of a home. Before this, it was too empty. Too quiet.â
âI think so too,â Alexander replied as his smile became even wider.
Five minutes later, she walked down in a sky-blue dress.
Her long wavy hair behind her reached her waist, and she clipped her bangs with a diamond star hairclip.
Her innocent and elegant face made her look even more attractive.
Alexander extended his hand and Luna slowly grabbed it.
âWhere are you taking me?â
âYouâll know when we get there. It will definitely make you forget all those sad things.â
âIâll wait and see then! But Iâll be upfront, donât bring me to somewhere too noisy.â
âDonât worry, only Iâll be there!â
The black car drove through the night. Luna rolled down the car window and let the wind gently touch her face. And that carried away most of her unhappiness.
âHow many times have you brought a girl out for a ride like this?â Luna turned around and asked him. âThere are so many people that like you. Iâm not the first one, right?!â
Alexander had his hands on the steering wheel and said, âIf I told you that you werenât, would you get jealous?â
Luna pouted and said, âIâm not that petty as long as Iâm the only person from now on!â
Alexander then turned around and said to her, âThat would depend on how your performance is.â
Luna snorted and said, âIâm such a nice girl. You better be careful. If someone else managed to grab my heart, you would lose me then.â
Alexander said, âYouâre quite confident, hm?â
Luna nodded and said, âOf course.â
The only reason that all those people would bully her was that she had lived such a lowly life.
Alexander then asked plainly, âArenât you afraid that Iâll be with someone else?â
Itâs not news in Auburn that the number of women who wanted him never ran dry.
If it werenât because of his cold personality, the number of women willing to be his mistress could probably form a battalion.
âNope,â Luna answered decisively. âIf youâre someone like that, you wouldnât be single until now. Not to mention that if you really donât want to be with me anymore, thereâs nothing I can do even if Iâm afraid, right?â
If being afraid could lead her away from problems, then she wouldnât mind learning what fear meant.
Alexander said with a smile, âYouâre quite open-minded.â
Luna looked at the lamp posts by the side of the road, and there was a slight bitterness in her tone as she said, âSometimes you have to be open-minded to be able to live on.â
And that was how the world had always been, wasnât it?
