Stranded Bickers | ✔

❝Bohat he koi besharam admi ho❞

Aayan was a creep.

Well, that was the only word which came up in his mind when he found himself staring at Ifrah's sleeping face in the morning. He didn't have any idea as to why he was even wasting his time by mindlessly staring at her, but he couldn't seem to pull away his gaze.

She looks so...

He took in her soft, steady breaths, and the long lashes touching her cheeks which were smudged with some light dirt. Her lips were slightly parted and chapped, but the redness from whatever magical lipstick she used still remained there, and Aayan felt this sudden urge to scold her for using that lipstick in the first place. Because it was fogging up his mind and making his heart go crazy. He quickly clenched his eyes shut when stupid thoughts started appearing in his mind and he sucked in a deep breath.

Satak raha hun mein.

(I'm going nuts.)

He opened his eyes and was going to sit up but something stopped him, and he looked down to see his wife gripping the front of his shirt tightly in her fist. Aayan let out a light curse before slowly unfolding her hand from his shirt and standing up from there. He heaved a sigh of relief when he was out from her proximity and scowled at her sleeping form.

She'd never let me live peacefully. Even in her sleep she's making me throw her off a cliff.

The raven haired guy rolled his eyes and straightened his shirt before staring up at the ceiling and finding no bat there. He knew it would go away itself, only if some idiot trusted his words. Aayan stole one last glance at his sleeping wife and went out of the hut to search for some food.

When he came back after half an hour or so, a very worried Ifrah was pacing in front of the hut, and she stopped after seeing him. Aayan cocked a brow at her seemingly tense posture and came to stand in front of her to see that she was throwing daggers at him through her eyes.

"Where did you go off to?" she asked with her hands resting on her hips and he frowned.

"Um, the river...?" he replied in a rather confused manner, and earned a scoff in return.

"I checked, you weren't there."

"I was near it, but why are we even having this discussion?" he asked.

Ifrah's eyes narrowed. "Because you're stupid, that's why!" she threw her hands up, making Aayan's frown to deepen.

"Excuse me?"

"No, you listen to me clearly, okay? 'Cause I won't repeat myself. Do not leave me alone without telling me where the eff you're going again. I was so sca- " she cut off mid rant and clenched her jaw before huffing out a breath, and her husband raised a brow.

"You were what? Scared?" he asked while his lips started lifting from the right side into a smirk and Ifrah rolled her eyes.

"Shut up. Just don't go anywhere without telling me again." she was going to go back in the hut but remembered something and faced him again. "And what were you even thinking when you left me here all alone, huh? Did it not cross your mind that a sleeping person is more vulnerable to wild animals?"

Aayan rubbed a tired hand down his face and looked heavenward before staring at her again and said; "I wasn't going that far, and we haven't found any wild animals here yet."

Ifrah gave him a straight look and his lips turned into an 'O' before he added; "Except for the snake and that bat. But we didn't come across any lions or leopards, so it's all good."

"Alhamdullilah," she ground out the word. "Don't mention those beasts again or they'll appear."

Oh God, this girl!

He groaned and pushed her out of the way before entering the hut. "Hat jao mery rastay se, pata nahi kis pagal ke sath phas gya hun." (Get out of my way, what kind of idiot I've stuck with.)

Ifrah glared at his back but didn't say anything because she didn't have the energy to start an argument. So, she sucked in some deep breaths and followed him in to see him sitting on the floor with a coconut and some bananas on a leaf.

She raised a brow while coming to sit on the opposite side and asked; "So, you learned how to get these down?"

"Yeah, you thought I won't know how to use a stick?" Aayan rolled his eyes and passed her a banana which she took and started peeling off its cover. "The coconut was already on the ground, though. That's why its skin is wet. We could've used it as a fire starter."

Ifrah didn't tell him that she was learning it for the first time that coconut skin can be used to start fire, and kept nibbling on her fruit. She was grateful that they had at least something to eat, but it was still not enough to fulfill the hunger and also the fact that too much bananas were upsetting her stomach.

Aayan dusted off his hands after finishing his meal and leaned over a bit to grab his backpack. He settled it near him before unzipping and looked up at his wife who was casually staring at him.

"Get yours, too, and show me what you have in it. We have to know what kind of supplies we can use here." he told her, and she wordlessly stood up from there to pick up her bag from the other corner and came back to her spot.

She opened her backpack and was going to search it when her husband snatched it from her hands and her head whipped up in disbelief.

"Give that back!" she stated while moving forward to grab it but Aayan moved it out of her reach, making her glare to intensify.

"You will waste a lot of time, so let me do this." he said as he started rummaging through it.

"I have private stuff in there, you insolent man!" she said out loud while grinding her teeth.

Aayan only replied with a gesture of his eyes turning wide as he took out a large bag of potato chips and stared at his wife with a straight face.

"You mean private stuff like this?"

Ifrah snatched the chips in a quick move but her face was slightly red.

"Bohat he koi besharam admi ho." (You're such a shameless man.) she insulted.

"You call this besharmi?" Aayan scoffed. "You're the one who's been hiding this big fat bag of chips all this time knowing full well that we're close to starvation and yet you still didn't feel like taking it out so we could eat!"

"I didn't know it was there in the first place, okay?!" Ifrah countered back with a scream, making her husband to furrow his brows.

"You kidding me?"

The chestnut haired girl turned more red under his bemused stare and ducked her head to hide her embarrassment. "My mind was so occupied by the things that happened in the past two days that it didn't cross me I had chips in my bag."

Aayan couldn't even make fun of her words and just settled with a sigh. He shook his head before returning to her bag and took out a small pouch which contained her makeup.

"Seriously?" he deadpanned. Ifrah frowned at him. "Who the fück carries this useless stuff while going on a trip to a deserted island?"

His wife crossed her arms over her chest before jutting out her chin. "Ladies."

Aayan could only bite his tongue to stop himself from making any kind of insulting remark and tossed the pouch behind him, making his wife to give out a horrified gasp.

"Do you even know how expensive it is?!" she exclaimed while getting up from her spot and grabbing the pink transparent pouch before cradling it like a baby.

"No." he replied flatly before pausing mid search and looked at her when she sat back in front of him. "Do you also have the red lipstick you use in there?" he asked.

And now he felt like a donkey.

Ifrah raised her brows. "I don't use lipstick."

"Liar."

"I'm not lying!"

"Then explain that abnormal redness of your lips." he stated while his eyes fell to her lips and his wife turned red once again when she noticed the look he was giving her.

"Besharam insaan." she muttered under her breath and stood up from the spot; it suddenly felt very uncomfortable to sit in front of him. Aayan was pulled out of a daze when Ifrah made her way to the exit and he frowned.

"Where are you going? Answer my question!"

"I'm going to the river, and I use lip tints, idiot." she stopped for a moment to reply before spinning on her heels and getting out of the hut.

"What the fück is that shït?" he mumbled with creased brows.

When Ifrah came back after some while, Aayan was getting out of the hut wearing his backpack and she frowned.

"Get your bag, we're going to look for a way out." he told her.

"Mar thori jana tha tum ne agr mera bhi utha lety." (You wouldn't have died if you'd picked up mine, too.) she grumbled as she went inside to grab her bag.

Aayan turned on his heels to give her a sickly sweet smile. "Phir mein tumhary ye mohabbat bhary alfaz kaisy sunta?" (Then how would I have listend to these lovely words of yours?)

Ifrah only passed him a look of annoyance on her way out and followed after him in a slow pace when he started walking. He stopped to put a ring on a tree near the hut before continuing and she heaved a sigh.

It was only two days, yet she felt like a lifetime had passed since they got stuck here.

She threw her head back to stare at the sky past the long trees while walking and suddenly slammed into her husband's back who had paused abruptly. Both of them shouted at the same time;

"What the fück is wrong with you?!"

"What the eff is your back made of?!"

Aayan spinned on his feet to give her a glare but stopped when he saw her rubbing her nose with a scowl.

She looks adorable.

"What the hell?!" he voiced out his shock at the thought that appeared in his mind, startling his wife, before realizing his slip up and slammed his mouth shut. Ifrah narrowed her eyes.

"Why are you screaming?" she asked.

"I... It's because- " he stumbled for some words before straightening up and saying; "It's because you're distracting me."

No lie there, though.

Ifrah gaped at him. "What? But I didn't make a single sound!"

"Exactly, I can't listen to the sounds around us because of that."

"What kind of chaval logic is this?!" she threw her hands up in agitation.

Aayan casually pulled the hem of his shirt down before replying.

"It's my logic. Ab tum mery agay chalo gi taake mein distract na houn." (Now you'll walk ahead of me so that I don't get distracted.) he said dumbly while stepping on the side and gesturing for her to start walking.

Ifrah could only dig holes through him with the intensity of her glare and wordlessly complied. They both started walking again with Aayan following her this time, and after some steps he realized that it was a big mistake.

He couldn't take his eyes off of her as she turned her head around to gaze at the surroundings after every few minutes while running a hand down her ponytail, and he cursed under his breath.

Beta teri logic sach mein chaval he thi. (Your logic actually proved out to be foolish.) he thought helplessly before letting out a groan.
