chapter 5

Hate

I stood before the apartment building, gazing up at its worn facade. The structure looked old and tired, its walls bearing the scars of time. I let out a deep sigh, my exhaustion from the long drive threatening to overwhelm me. "I swear, I'm never driving again," I muttered to myself, already dreading the return trip.

As I trudged into the building, I was greeted by the creaky stairs that led up to the fourth floor. I couldn't help but wonder why there was no elevator in the building. It wasn't that I was incapable of climbing the stairs, but my tired legs and aching back would have appreciated the convenience.

The past few months had taken a toll on me, both physically and emotionally. I had stopped working out, and my overall health had begun to suffer. Liam's disappearance had left a gaping hole in my life, and everything seemed dull and meaningless without him.

As I climbed the stairs, my mind wandered back to my mother. I had avoided her since Liam left, unable to forgive her for the pain she had caused him. Her constant meddling and criticism had made our marriage unbearable for Liam, and I couldn't help but resent her for it.

I reached the fourth floor, my legs aching and my breath heavy. As I looked down at my phone, I saw the room number Damien had sent me. I took a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever lay ahead. Little did I know, my life was about to take a dramatic turn.

I let out a frustrated sigh as I sat on the closed door, my head resting on my knee. Damien was indeed a monster, and I was starting to think that he had played a cruel joke on me. I had been standing outside this door for two hours, and not a single sound had come from inside. No reply, no movement, nothing.

I glanced at my watch, and my eyes widened in disbelief. It was already 5:45 am. The sun would be rising soon, and I was still stuck here, waiting for...what? I had no idea what Damien had planned, but it seemed that he had abandoned me.

I stood up, stretching my tired muscles. Out of boredom, I had explored the entire building, from the third floor to the fifth. It was eerie how empty it was. I had seen only one person leaving for work, and that was it. The silence was oppressive, and I found myself wondering if I was the only person left in the world.

I walked back to the door and sat down again, my eyes fixed on the peephole. I was determined to wait for Damien, no matter how long it took. And when I finally saw him, I was going to give him a piece of my mind. Oh, Damien, you have no idea what's coming your way.I couldn't help but reiterate my sentiment about Damien. He had left me stranded in this deserted building, with no explanation or apology. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that Damien's actions were not just thoughtless, but also downright cruel.

I had trusted him, considered him a friend, and this was how he repaid me? By abandoning me in the middle of nowhere, with no way to communicate with him? It was unacceptable, and I was determined to make him pay for his actions.

As I sat there, fuming and frustrated, I couldn't help but wonder what had driven Damien to behave in such a monstrous way. What had I done to deserve this kind of treatment? And what did he hope to achieve by leaving me stranded like this?

The more I thought about it, the more my anger grew. Damien was indeed a monster, and I was going to make sure he knew it.
