chapter 23
Hate
Mark and Liam sat beside the incubators, gazing lovingly at their tiny sons. They had finally decided on names, and Augustine and Aiden seemed perfect for the two little bundles of joy.
Augustine, or Gus as Mark and Liam had already started calling him, was a tiny but feisty little thing. He had a mop of dark hair and a scowl on his face that made him look like a miniature version of Liam, except for the hair.
Aiden the ger, on the other hand, was a sweet and gentle soul. He had a soft, downy head of red hair and a peaceful expression that made him look like a tiny angel.
Mark and Liam watched the nurses came over to check on the babies. They expertly changed diapers, administered medication, and monitored the babies' vital signs.
Mark and Liam were fascinated by the nurses' expertise and efficiency. They asked a million questions, eager to learn everything they could about caring for their tiny babies.
The day wore on, Mark and Liam took turns holding Augustine and Aiden. They marveled at the tiny fingers and toes, the delicate features, and the soft, sweet scent of their babies' skin.
Mark and Liam felt a sense of joy as they held their sons and wonder that they had never experienced before. They knew that being parents would be a challenge, but they were ready to face whatever came their way.
Mark and Liam reluctantly said goodbye to Augustine and Aiden as the sun began to set. They knew that they would be back tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after that.
Mark turned to Liam and smiled as they left the hospital. "I love you."Mark said, his voice full of wonder. Liam smiled back, his eyes shining with tears. "I Love you too, Mark," he said.
Mark gently kissed Liam's lips, his eyes, his nose while caressing his little hair that had grown back. They were peacefully laying together on the hospital bed.Mark was feeling a mix of relief and joy. He had missed this closeness and this intimacy, while Liam was in a coma. He hugged Liam tightly to his warm chest, feeling Liam's heart beat against his own.
As he held Liam, Mark couldn't help but think about how far they had come. From the darkest moments of Liam's captivity to the joy of welcoming their twin sons, Augustine and Aiden, into the world.
Mark kissed Liam's forehead and his lips gentle against Liam's skin. "Sleep well, my love," he whispered, his voice filled with emotion. "We are safe now. Our babies are safe. We're all together, and nothing can ever hurt us again."
Liam's eyes fluttered closed, a soft smile on his lips. Mark held him close, feeling his own eyes grow heavy with exhaustion. As they drifted off to sleep together, Mark knew that this was just the beginning of their new life, one filled with love, hope, and happiness.
What a beautiful night mark had!
