Chapter 14: Baking A Pie With Your Crush.
Rame| ✔︎
How the hell do you bake a pie?
When I woke up this morning I went downstairs and saw mom sitting on the couch skimming through her recipe book, and she told me she was looking for her pecan pie recipe and then she had to go to work, it sucks being an adult, so I took it on myself to bake her a pie.
Only problem is, I have no idea how to bake, Sophia usually does all this but she's asleep and I don't want to wake up the beast.
So I am in a pickle.
Oh and I found mom's recipe, it's just so long, it has around thirty different steps and looks extremely difficult.
"You okay?" I hear a voice ask.
I look up and see Oliver standing next to the front door, how did he even get in here?
"I have a key." He said, woah did he just read my mind?
"Are you okay?" He came closer and put his hand on my forehead, I think he is checking my temperature.
"I'm fine." I swatted his hand away.
"Then what are you doing?" He asked.
"I am trying to make a pie." I turned back to the cook book.
Oliver grabbed the cook book and looked at the recipe, "What are you doing?" I asked.
"I want to help you." He stated.
"Do you have all of the ingredients?" He asked.
I shook my head, "I was planning to go to the grocery store."
"Okay, let's write down what we need and we'll go."
âªâªâª
"So.. what do we need again?" I ask for the fifth time in the last ten minutes.
"Pecans, flour, butter, brown sugar and corn syrup." He listed.
"Okay." I started pushing the cart.
Hey I am getting deja vue.
"Do you even know where you're going?" He asked.
"Nope." I shook my head.
He chuckled and then suddenly I saw hands coming up next to my waist and gripping the cart, then I felt Oliver's presence behind me, it's definitely getting hot in here.
He redirected the cart towards a different isle and stopped near the baking one.
I have been here before, it's just that I have a horrible sense of direction.
Oliver grabbed everything on the list, and now we are on our way to the dairy isle to get the butter.
Once we got everything we needed we were on our way home.
"Okay so we got everything," I stated, putting everything on the kitchen counter once we were home, "Now for the hard part." I really wish I woke Sophia up, but I'm too scared of her.
Who am I kidding? I'm not scared of her, I'm scared of her punches.
"How about this; I prepare the dough and you do the filling?" Oliver asked.
"Okay, yeah sounds good." I nodded.
âââ
After a couple of hours, and a mess, later, we successfully, kinda, baked the pie.
Everyone is up now, Sophia had a lot to say about our baking skills.
"I can't believe you baked something and didn't burn it." Sophia laughed.
"Fuck off." I hit her upside the head.
"Ow." She grumbled.
"You deserved it." Isabella defended me.
"That's why I love you," I kissed her head, "I need to clean up now," I groaned, I hate cleaning up.
"I'll help." Oliver jumped up from the couch, where everyone were sitting, and came with me to the kitchen.
"I'll start by washing the dishes." I went over to the sink and turned the tap on.
"I can help with that as well," Oliver said, at first I didn't understand what he meant, but then I felt him behind me, his arms near my waist as he washed the dishes from behind me, he rested his head on my shoulder, getting a better view of what he is doing.
This is way better than the 'I wash, you dry' ordeal. Way better.
When we finished with all the dishes, Oliver dried his hands and his arms now circled around my waist, chills going down my spine.
"I really enjoyed today." He said as he spun me around, looking into my eyes.
"I did too." I really did, his presence calmed me in a sense, even when he does stuff like this and I ask to be slapped, I like being around him.
"I was thinking.." he started, looking nervous all of the sudden, "Would you like to go on a date with me?" He asked, a hopeful gleam in his eyes.
Yes.
I want to scream that, I have incredible self restraint.
"Uh-huh." I eagerly nodded, it's weird that I am only this awkward next to him, I'm usually pretty chill, but being around him just makes all my nerves surface, and I kind of like it.
"Really?" His eyes shown with mirth.
"Uh-huh." I nodded again, is this a good time for someone to fucking slap me already? "I mean, yes, I'd love to go on a date with you." Why do I sound like a girl from the 1800?
Should've added an accent.
He laughed and tightened his hold, "You are really pretty." He randomly stated.
This made my cheeks grow hot.
"Can I quote mean girls?" I ask, mentally slapping myself, "I mean, thank you Oly." I smiled gently.
His whole body shook with laughter, muttering something incoherent.
"You really are something else aren't you?" His eyes are so happy.
Breed: different.
"I guess," I shrug my shoulders.
"I do not see room for Jesus there." Noah's loud voice screeched, then I felt Oliver's hands being torn from my waist and my brother tucking me into a hug.
"There, there, my sweet summer child, everything is going to be alright." He is petting my head, that's right, petting.
"Get off of me," I pushed him from me, "The only sweet summer child here is Isabella." I stated.
"Hey, what about me?" Sophia asked, walking into the kitchen.
I gave her a look.
"Yup, you are probably right." She shrugged.
"I'm always right." I state, feigning offense.
"Mhm."
"Hey, I am." Now IÂ actually offended.
"I'm sure you are." She looked through the pantry, taking out a bag of chips.
"That's because I am."
"Uh-huh." She went over to the living room, with me following her.
à°à°à°
Hey, hi, hello.
How are ya?
I'm in the middle of reading Where The Crawdads Sing, and let me just tell you I am not okay.
Anyhow, did you like the chapter? I really wanted to have a baking scene in this book and I'm excited I done it.
I can simply say that the next chapter is really exciting and I love it.
K, I'll get out of your hair now, love you bye :).
