Chapter 11: Sleepless Nights And Calling Your Crush Pudge.

Rame| ✔︎

We are officially at the lake, we even set up the tents, we had a few pit stops on the way, blame it all on Sophia, and Oliver got slightly irritated because of our constant bickering but it's all good.

All of us are now in our swimsuits sitting by the lake, the lake is absolutely beautiful with grass surrounding it, I have no idea why we are sitting outside of the lake and not getting in it but I'm rolling with it.

Okay I got bored.

"Hey, why don't we actually go in the lake?" I asked no one specific, but I do expect an answer.

"I have no idea, it was getting super boring but I didn't want to interrupt the calm." Sophia explained.

"I'm going in." I got up and went in the lake, soon after the rest followed.

"Hey," I called out to Oliver who was sitting at the edge of the lake, alone, I noticed that he was holding a book in his hand as well, the book I got him, "Do you like it?" I gesture towards the book.

"Yeah it's pretty good, you know, Alaska kinda reminds me of you, apart from the drinking and the other stuff." He means the sex innuendos.

"Yeah? I'm taking that as a compliment." I sat next to him.

"You should, she's a really fun character to read about."

"You remind me of Pudge," I say, "All innocent and cute." I just said that out loud didn't I?

"Yeah but I'm not awkward or scrawny," He retorts with a smirk, he really isn't, "And I am not innocent." He smirks, is it getting hot in here?

"I forgot what I came here to tell you." I sheepishly admit, trying to divert the conversation elsewhere, you see if it were any other guy I would say something completely inappropriate just for the fun of it, but it feels wrong with Oliver, he's not just some other guy.

"What good is it that you have an IQ of 178 but you can't remember what you came here to ask me?" He teasingly laughs, yeah well you don't have to sit here and talk to your childhood crush now do you mister?

"Well I can remember a lot of things thank you very much," I am lame.

"Oh yeah? Like what?" He asks.

My brain went numb, no seriously I can't remember a thing.

"The fastest gust of wind ever recorded on Earth was 253 miles per hour, whale songs can be used to map out the ocean floor, dentistry is the oldest profession in the world." Really Kayden? This is what you remember? Ugh, someone slap me please.

"Do you have anymore of those right at the top of your head?" He asked, amusement dripping from his voice.

I flipped him the bird with a sweetly sickening smile. He laughed.

"Kayden, what's taking so long?" Sophia's voice called, hey I remember what I wanted to tell him.

"Dinner's ready," I blurted, "That's what I wanted to tell you." I clarified.

"Okay, let's go then." He got up and held his hand out to help me up, I put my hand in his and he lifted me up so effortlessly.

"Thanks." I muttered.

"No problem Smalls." He smiled at me and started walking, my hand is still in his.

I can't fucking sleep.

I somehow ended up laying on three rocks that are exactly where my back is supposed to be laying, preferably sleeping, but no, three stupid rocks had to just be there, I'm so fucking lucky, note the fucking sarcasm.

Ugh, if I lay here for another second I will explode, especially hearing the steady breathing of Sophia and Isabella, they got lucky, I'm not sarcastic now.

I get out of the stupid tent and move to sit near the lake, at least it's peaceful.

Wait, what if conveniently there's a snake around here, I mean I wouldn't be surprised after the rock incident.

I'm being pessimistic, but I don't care, I'm tired.

After "dinner" which consisted of sandwiches and fruit, we all sat around and talked to each other, it was nice, but now all I want to do is sleep.

Who even came up with this stupid idea of going on a stupid camping trip?

Oh yeah, stupid me.

"Kayden?" I hear a deep voice whisper, Blake.

"What?" I ask.

"Why are you glaring at the lake?" He asks.

"Non of your business." Don't mess with me when I'm tired.

Oh cause you're oh so intimidating? Yeah shut up.

"Okay, what happened?" He sat down next to me.

"Why do you want to know?"

"I'm bored." He replies honestly.

"I couldn't fucking sleep." I moved to glare at a rock.

"Thinking of Oliver?" He mocked.

"No, thinking of how I can shove my foot up your ass so hard that it'll come out of your throat, it was so exhilarating I couldn't sleep." I smiled sarcastically at him.

"Creative." He commented.

"I'm just smart like that." I replied.

"Do you actually have an IQ of 200?" He asked, why am I having a civil conversation with him?

"No, 178." I clarified.

"Were you really bullied?" He asked.

"Kinda, how come I've never seen you before I moved?" I asked, slyly averting from the other topic.

"I didn't go to your old high school, I went to south." He shared, "Why did you change the subject?" Ok maybe I wasn't that sly.

"I don't like to talk about it." I stated.

"Why?" He asked.

"Because I'm not going to share my sob story like that, it's not that important." All that matters now is that I'm not the same as I was.

"Okay, I'm not going to push you."

Good, I'm really not in the mood to talk about it.

We sat in, what I presume is comfortable silence, you know cause I'm not really comfortable around Blake. He annoys me.

"Why do you dislike me?" He asked.

"What's with the interrogation?" I snapped.

"I told you, I'm bored." He calmly answered.

"I don't dislike you, I just think you are annoying." I state.

"Likewise," he said, "You're so different from Isabella, how are you friends with her?" He asked.

Does this dude really want me to punch him? Cause I will.

"Dude, the fuck?" I stare at him.

"Not like that, it's just she is such a happy bubbly person and you are not, and she hates anything that has to go with violence and you will punch anyone that annoys you, how are you friends?" Hey, I'm a happy person.

"Well right now, you are annoying me," I threatened, "She didn't have many friends in BS, and she was getting picked on, because people thought she was weak," The hell-hole was known for it's bullying.

"I couldn't stand it, the fact that this girl is getting picked on because she is soft, so I punched that kid in the nose and threatened the others that I'll do the same to them if they don't leave her alone," Wow I really do punch people a lot.

"So they did, and Sophia and her got on pretty well, so since then it's been the three of us, we protect her when needed, and she keeps us from killing each other." I explained.

"You just love punching people huh." He mocked, I punched him in the arm. It's one of my many charms.

"Okay, ow." He rubbed his arm, serves him right.

"You're not that bad Kayden."

"I know, so are we going to talk about you liking my best friend? Cause I have a couple of threats I'd like to put into use." What? I'm the overprotective dad of the group.

"Go for it." He chuckled.

Oh, he's going to wish he didn't just say that.

"First of all, I punch really hard, so if you hurt her, I'll hurt you." I glared at him, I think I saw fear flash in his eyes.

"Second of all, I have a psychology degree so I will literally fuck with your brain," he gulped, "And lastly, I also have a law degree, meaning I will sue the fuck out of you if you hurt her, understood?" The 'I have a gun' threat is way better in my opinion, but he is still my brother's friend, I still have no idea why though.

He nodded.

"Good." I smiled.

Oh how I love threatening people, I won't actually fuck with his brain or sue him, I might punch though, he just needs to be a little scared.

"You're very scary sometimes Kayden." He stated.

"I know."
