Chapter 8: Natural.
Rame| ✔︎
It's the morning after the party, and Kayden, Sophia and Isabella are still not up.
After Kayden passed out, the girls immediately wanted to go home so Noah and Blake didn't want to be at the party either so we all left. I placed Kayden in her bed and then her friends took care of her.
I'm glad she has them, before she left she didn't have anyone except Noah and her cousin Aria, both of which are three years older than her.
Blake and I stayed at Noah and Kayden's house last night, well earlier tonight, but Blake slept in the guest room I crashed in the couch.
"Hi." I hear Noah's morning voice, he is a softie but don't mess with him in the mornings, he is cranky.
"Hi sweety," I hear their mom greet her son, this is my cue to get up, "Oh good morning Oliver." She smiled at me.
"Noah, Kayden complained that she doesn't have any clothes but your dad and I have work today, would you mind taking her?" She asks.
"I can't actually, I have to pick up some things from my dorm room that I forgot," our college is two hours away, "Maybe someone else can take her?" He looks at me.
"I don't mind." I really don't.
"Great, so I'll give you the money now cause I have to leave, and will you wake her up soon? The mall gets jam packed." She asks.
"Sure." I answer.
"Great," she smiled and placed some money on the counter, "Have a great day guys." She waved and left for work.
"I will start breakfast you wake up the beasts." Noah says and opens the fridge.
I walk up the stairs and decided to start with Blake, I knock on his door and open it. I walk inside the room and start shaking him so he gets up.
"I'm up, I'm up." He leans up on the bed, he's a very light sleeper.
"Good." I say and walk out the door, not closing it so he actually gets up. I go down the stairs because I decided that if I want to wake up a hungry teen, might as well do it when the food is actually ready.
"Where is Kayden?" Noah asks.
"Blake's up, I'm waiting with waking up the girls."
"Yeah... good call." He turns around to finish the pancakes.
"Ready." He calls out after a couple of minutes, Blake is already sitting at the counter.
"I'm going to wake up the girls." I say.
"We'll come with you." Blake grabs Noah and the three of us go up the stairs and to Kayden's room, I knock on the door but there is no sound, so we walk in.
"This is gold." Blake laughs and takes a picture.
Kayden in on her side on the edge of the bed, clutching it to dear life while Sophia is basically on top of her and Isabella is somehow hugging both of them. This is kind of funny.
I walk over to Kayden and crouch down, brushing some stray hairs from her face, "Kayden," I whisper and she swatted my hand away, "Kayden," I say but this time with a louder voice.
She flutters her eyes open, "You have three seconds to explain why you woke me up." She glared at me, this is new.
"There is food downstairs." I state.
She contemplates the idea, "Not good enough." She turns away and tries to chase sleep again.
Not going to happen, "Can I touch you?" I ask.
"Why?" She turns to me again.
"Can I?" I press.
"Yes." She states.
I get up and pick her up, bridal style.
"What are you doing?" She asks.
"We need to leave soon." I say.
"I need to brush my teeth." She argues.
I turn towards her bathroom and shift her a little, she clutched to my neck for dear life, and opened the door, I placed her on the counter and grabbed her toothbrush and paste and gave them to her.
"Thank you?" She doubted.
I just smiled at her, when she was done brushing her teeth and put her stuff away, I picked her up again and carried her out of her room, I just like the feel of her in my arms, there is something so natural about it.
"I'm being kidnapped here!" She calls out when we pass Blake and Noah.
They share a look, "Good luck Charlie." They say simultaneously while waving at her and walking in the other direction to Noah's room.
She flips them off, I chuckle and walk down the stairs, when I reach the kitchen I place her on a stool so she can eat. I walk towards the cabinets where the tablets are and I grab an Advil, I fill up a glass of water and a coffee cup and place all of that in front of her, the plate of pancakes were already in front of her.
"Thank you Oly." She smiles at me, God her smile, so beautiful.
She drank the pill and started digging in the pancakes, she made a sour face and dropped her fork.
"Did Noah make this?" She asks.
"Yes?" I answer.
"He got mixed up between the salt and sugar." She stated and grabbed her coffee, probably to wash the taste down.
"Again?" I ask, no this is not the first time.
"What do you mean again?" She asks, I shake my head.
"Come on go get dressed, your mom told me to take you shopping because you need clothes, we'll get food as well." She gets off of the stool.
She's starts walking and goes up the stairs. After about fifteen minutes she comes down the stairs with wet hair and green sweat shorts, a matching shirt and her black converse, "It's a good thing we're going shopping, if Sophia catches me wearing her favorite clothes one more time she will skin me alive." She laughs. I smile at her and get up from my seat on the couch.
"I like what you're wearing, it looks good on you." I comment.
"Thank you." She blushes a little, cute.
We reach the car and I open the door, she climbs in my car and buckles up. After a few minutes of me driving she reaches over to turn on the radio, "Hey, I just realized I don't know what you're studying... like I know you play basketball but what is your major?" She asks.
"Psychology." I say.
"Oh cool, I have a degree in psychology." She says this like it's the most regular thing in the world to be seventeen and have a degree.
"Wait what? How?" I ask flabbergasted.
She laughs, "I told you I was academically advanced, so the headmaster just offered me three majors to choose from, Law, Medicine and psychology, I wasn't interested in medicine so I took psychology as a major and law as a minor." She explains.
"So you're a psychologist and a lawyer at seventeen?" I ask, still kind of shocked.
"No, don't be silly, I just have the degree, that means I don't have to go to college, but I want to study business though." She inspects her nails like she didn't just tell me something so shocking.
She never fails to amaze me.
"Wait what's your IQ again?" I ask.
"178."
Oh that's completely normal, not. Over 132 is considered very high, I have a genius sitting in my passenger seat.
"Oh, yeah that is cool." What's wrong with me?
She laughs and started humming to the radio.
"Hey, where do you want to go again? Like what mall?" I ask.
"A mall? Why would we go to a mall?"
"Because that's where you buy clothes?" I inquired.
"Yeah I get that, but why don't we just go to a thrift store? It's way more sustainable and way cheaper." She quipped.
"Ok, we'll go to the thrift store." I change the direction of the car towards the nearest thrift store.
After about ten minutes of her asking me random questions we get to the store, she hops out of the car, yes hops, and heads straight towards the store and opens the door, she stays there until I walk in, she just opened a door for me.
She just picked clothes up and put them in my hands saying something about me being a hanger.
When she just came back, around a week ago, she was so nervous next to me, but now she lost all of the initial nerves and she is way more comfortable around me now, good.
Once she finished picking up clothes she told me to put all of them in a fitting room and she'll be out soon.
I just started answering texts I've missed because I wasn't really on my phone all day.
"What do you think?" Her melodic voice inquired, I look up and see her in a red sundress looking absolutely beautiful.
"You think?" She asks, did I say that out loud?
"Uh yeah, it looks really good." I'm absolutely pathetic.
"Thanks!" She smiles widely at me, ok yeah worth it.
After she tried on a couple of things and showed them all to me, she paid and we were put of the store.
"You hungry smalls?" I ask, realizing that she didn't really eat today.
"Yeah kinda." She answered.
I took her bags and opened my car placing them in it, I then closed it and when I see Kayden walking in the opposite direction of the nearest coffee shop I take her hand I drag her with me towards the café.
âï¸ï¸âï¸ï¸âï¸ï¸
"I'm going to crash, I'm going to crash," Kayden stumbles towards the couch, "And crashed." She said after she literally crashed on the couch, I chuckle and close the door, putting her bags by the stairs.
"Where is everyone?" She asks, "Sophia, Isabella." She calls out but nobody answers.
"I think all of them might have went with Noah." I suggest.
"Where did Noah go?" She asks.
"To his dorm room, he forgot a couple of things."
"Oh ok, well wanna do something?" She asks.
"Didn't you just crash?" I joked.
"Yeah, but I was trying to be polite, you ruined it so I'll take a nap." She says rolling on her side, facing away from me.
I laugh, "So I guess it's nap time, scoot over." I go over to sit on the couch.
"What why?" She turns to me.
"Do you think I will fit on the loveseat?" My tall frame won't be able to fit half my legs on it.
She looks me up and down, "Fine." She mutters and scoots over so I can fit in next to her.
I lay down, even on the couch my legs don't fit, I turn over so that I face Kayden's back, her breathing already evened out so I let myself get closer to her and gently put my arm around her waist and gently tug her towards me.
This feels so natural.
