She paused for a second and also realizing that Yu Duo wouldn’t listen to anything she has to say right now. She softened her tone and said, “You have been home as a full-time housewife for the last three years. I have heard much more about what had been going on than you have. Fu Sinian wasn’t as honest a man as you think he was. I heard that every time he went to a social gathering or banquet, he brought a different woman. If he was truly so madly in love with you, why didn’t he just bring you instead?”

“He has his reasons. Besides, what is the point of bringing this up now?”

“Yes, you are right. It is pointless to talk about that now. You are still only 24 years old. You have a long life ahead of you. Have you thought about remarrying?”

Yu Duo was dumbfounded.

Remarry?

Yu Duo wasn’t the only one that was dumbfounded, Fu Sinian was dumbfounded as well.

How long has he been dead? She was telling her to remarry already?

Mrs. Yu noticed the pause on Yu Duo, and she knew she heard her words. She continued, “Now that Fu Sinian was gone, you couldn’t possibly spend the rest of your life accompanied by his portrait. These are tough words, no doubt, but mom is going to play the role of the bad guy today. You should look for a man who truly loves you, pampers you, and takes care of you and marry him. That way mom won’t have to worry anymore.”

Yu Duo had truly never thought about re-marrying. After all, she has the billion-dollar inheritance from Fu Sinian. She needn’t worry about money or clothes, what would she need a man for? She was quite happy just being single.

“No, I’m good. I am happy how things are right now.”

“Don’t be so stubborn. Others said the two of you were so in love, but I don’t believe it. I remember you were wailing about not wanting to marry Fu Sinian back in the days. Mom and dad didn’t do you right back then. Mom knew that you liked Yu Yang. You two grew up together and spent all your time together. Mom had been young once too. Don’t you think I could tell? Yu Yang had come back from studying abroad. He has a bright future and he said he will wait for you.”

“Yu Yang?” Yu Duo had some recollection of this person. He did grow up with “Yu Duo and the two were quite fond of each other.

He had left to study abroad after she had married Fu Sinian.

“Yes, him. It’s your dad’s birthday in two days, and Yu Yang will be there too. Just go meet him and start with being friends. It doesn’t matter if you don’t like him. You are still young, and you are pretty. Now that you have that inheritance, you can pick any man you like.”

Sure, she was pretty. Sure, she was wealthy now. But it will be quite a while before she thought about re-marrying. After all, she and Fu Sinian had been madly in love.

Mrs. Yu stayed and nagged for longer, mostly regarding her re-marrying as though that was the real purpose of her visit. And not just Yu Yang, Mrs. Yu pretty much gave Yu Duo an introduction on each and every single young, promising, and wealthy men in City S. Yu Duo just tuned her out. Finally, after Mrs. Yu had departed, Yu Duo had a chance to open up her album and looked at the few promising youths’ pictures that her mother had sent to her.

All these men in their prime were good looking, handsome and high spirited. Good family background and definitely eye candies. But among all the pictures, Yu Yang was still the best one of them all. He was top notched in terms of both looks and ability. He left a fine impression in everyone that he met.

Who didn’t like pretty things? Yu Duo couldn’t help but take a couple more looks and sighed, “So handsome....”

Except that as handsome as he was, he was still just a supporting character in someone else’s book.

His ending wasn’t as tragic as Fu Sinian, who died in an explosion, but he remained single the rest of his life. Poor thing.

Thinking about that, Yu Duo felt more and more sorry for him.

Her longing look made Fu Sinian, who was nearby the entire time, shiver from anger. He tried again and again to grab her but failed. So he could do nothing but say nasty words to her.

“Yu Duo, don’t even dare think about remarrying!”
