Chapter 10 – What an infuriating woman! (3)

Uncle nodded. “Sinian lost both of his parents when he was just a child. Uncle was the one who raised him. My family is his family, and I am like a grandfather to him. Duoduo, now that Sinian is gone, and I spent so much time and effort in raising him. Should I be entitled to a part of his inheritance?”

Yu Duo looked up and blinked. She seemed to have noticed a shadow by the door. Hesitantly, she said, “..... Yes, you raised Sinian since he was a child. You should be entitled to some...”

Hearing that, Uncle broke out into a content smile, “That’s good to hear. Uncle will arrange a lawyer to contact you in the next few days so we can discuss the matters of the inheritance in details. Even though Sinian had passed away and you are all alone, don’t worry, Uncle will be like your family from now on. Whatever you need, you can come to Uncle. Uncle will help you anyway that he can!”

Yu Duo’s timid and non-confrontational front made Uncle seem all the more loving toward her.

“Uncle’s here?” rang a casual voice from the direction of the front door.

Aunty Lin took a look and immediately walked over in that direction, “Ah Qi, you are here.”

Ah Qi was casually dressed, but his body was fit and skinny. Even just a simple black jacket seemed tasteful on him. He had a butch cut hairstyle, and his gaze was sharp. He looked exactly like a daredevil, overconfident, and arrogant young man. He even got mud on his shoes, a sign that he ran over here in a rush.

After taking his shoes off, he walked over and greeted her with a “sister-in-law”.

Yu Duo looked happy for a second there but quickly reminded herself to refrain herself. She forced a smile and said, “Ah, you are here, Ah Chi...”

Ah Chi gave Uncle a strict and cold look and said, “I wonder what is Uncle’s purpose of visit?”

Deep down inside, Uncle was disgruntled but he couldn’t do anything else other than to nod under the intense stare of the wolf-like Ah Chi.

Ah Chi suddenly has it all figured out, “Oh, so you were here to pay respect to Big Brother. And here I thought Uncle only came over because Big Brother was gone and you were here to take advantage of sister-in-law.”

Now that Ah Chi had called him out to his face, Uncle couldn’t hold it back anymore. He shouted angrily at him, “What kind of nonsense are you talking about?”

Ah Chi put on a smile immediately, switching his emotions like an award-winning actor, “You are right, Ah Chi shouldn’t have thought such thoughts about Uncle.”

Uncle snickered, “I raised your brother since he was a child. What? Now that he was gone, shouldn’t I be entitled to some of his inheritance?”

Ah Chi didn’t beat around the bush. he said bluntly to Uncle, “Uncle, indeed you were the one who raised Big Brother. But, at the end of the day, you two are not related. As far as the law is concerned, you are not entitled to this inheritance. And what about the millions of dollars that Big Brother had been giving you over the years? I’d say Big Brother had more than repaid you over the years.”

“You.....”

Ah Chi was firm on his stance, “It’s getting late, let me help you out?”

It wasn’t even 10 AM yet. It was nowhere close to being late.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

But Uncle also understood that as long as Ah Chi was there, he would not be able to continue the conversation regarding the inheritance. It was better for him to bid his farewell now; the longer he stayed, the worse was going to come out of Ah Chi. He got up and said, “Now that I have paid my respect to Sinian, I should go. I will be back often to visit him.”

Ah Chi kindly reminded him, “Uncle, Big Brother’s grave was at Panlong Cemetery. When you miss Big Brother, that’s where you should go to visit here, not here.”

Uncle gave Ah Chi a stare. He left feeling unreconciled.

After Uncle has left, Yu Duo finally give Ah Chi a timid look and said to him, “Thank you, Ah Chi.”

Ah Chi took a look at Yu Duo, then quickly averted his eyes and dare not let his sight linger on her. He did not focus his sight, scratched his head like a silly boy and said, “Sister-in-law, there’s no need to thank me. Big Brother is not around anymore. Anything you need in the future, just let me know. I won’t let anyone take advantage of you!”

Yu Duo smiled tenderly and said, “I would like to go visit your big brother at Panlong Cemetery, would you like to come with?”

“Yes!” Ah Chi nodded immediately, “Sister-in-law, I have my car with me. Why don’t I take you?”

“Thank you.”

Ah Chi closed his mouth; the dimples on both of his cheeks were clearly visible.
