Chapter 929
Arielle Moore and Vinson Nightshire
âItâs nothing to do with you,â Vinson said, softening his expression a little. âI do have a task for you, though.â
âPlease, go ahead.â
âI want you to collate all the scandals you can find on Greene Corporation by ten oâclock. Besides that, get me a detailed list of the companies that have worked with them in the last year.â
The manager immediately straightened his back. Mr. Nightshireâs finally going to deal with the Greenes!
âIâll do so right away!â
âOh, Iâll also need you to get me a ticket for the latest flight out tonight. I want to make a quick trip to Jadeborough.â
The manager stared back in bewilderment as he reminded, âBut the people from Epea are arriving tomorrow, and you have a contract to sign. Will you be coming back to Horington today?â
âIâll be in Jadeborough for a few hours and return on an early flight in the morning.â
That made the manager even more perplexed. What on earth is going on? Why is there a need to rush to and fro?
However, given how cold with fury Vinson was, the manager knew better than to ask any further.
He nodded and replied, âUnderstood. Iâll forward you the flight information once Iâve booked the tickets.â
With that, the manager quickly turned and left.
Meanwhile, Daniel, who was miles away in Jadeborough, suddenly sneezed.
Rubbing his nose, he couldnât help but feel a sudden sense of foreboding.
Whatâs wrong with me? Iâve been so distracted that I even spaced out several times during the videoconference. I never used to be like this.
Cecilia, who had just walked in with tea, noticed the look on her husbandâs face and once again grew concerned. âWhatâs wrong? Are you feeling unwell?â
Daniel nodded faintly. âYes, a little. Iâm not used to how dry it is over here. As soon as weâve settled Wendyâs matter, weâll head home.â
At the mention of their daughter, Cecilia sighed. âWendy has locked herself in her room for an entire afternoon. Sheâs now saying she doesnât want dinner because she has to concentrate on her revision.â
âIsnât that good?â Daniel said as he closed his laptop âIn all these years, less than a hundred people from Chanaea have gotten into Maxwell University. If Wendy successfully gets in, sheâll be our familyâs pride and joy. And when that happens, I bet Susanne will be more than happy to have Wendy as her daughterâinâlaw.â.
âYes, itâs good that sheâs studying so hard,â Cecilia replied in a hushed tone. âBut I also noticed that sheâs been staring at the same page for the longest time. I think she canât get that little vixen out of her head. Do you think we should send someone again tonight to do the deed? Iâm sure Wendy can study better when she knows the vixen is dead.â
To her surprise, Daniel rejected the idea. âNo, weâve already alerted them this afternoon. If we sent someone again, theyâd be more than prepared to fight back. We canât risk giving ourselves away.
Anyway, the results will be out tomorrow. Wendy told me that the vixenâs results are nowhere as good as hers. Itâd be easy for Susanne to realize just who would be a better daughter inâlaw.â
Cecilia sighed again. âVery well, then. We can only rest our hopes on Wendy. For the sake of our family, she has to take first place.â
âOf course she will. Wendy has always been first in everything since young,â Daniel reassured, confident that his daughter would never let him down.
Soon, the sky grew dark as night approached.
When Arielle finally returned to Maple Mansion, she couldnât shake off the feeling that there were many pairs of eyes following her.
Curious, she asked Sasha and Blake about it. As it turned out, Vinson had strengthened the security detail around Maple Mansion as soon as he learned that the Greenes Had sent mercenaries.
