Chapter 845
Arielle Moore and Vinson Nightshire
Obsessed CEO Throws Himself at Me Chapter 845 Out of curiosity, Arielle asked, âCan an outsider join the Millsâ heir selection?â
A conflicted look crossed Corneliusâ face. âIn the past, such a thing would be implausible. However, there hasnât been an ancient Chanaean doctor in our family after my siblings and I were born. In my fatherâs eyes, it is much more crucial to maintain the prestige of ancient Chanaean medicine. In the future, the Mills wouldnât be the only ones suffering. Ancient Chanaean medicine will fade into obscurity. Right now, most people would prefer to seek out modern medicine instead of traditional Chanaean medicine.â
âIf an outsider is allowed to compete for this position, the familyâs secrets will be passed to that person too. Most traditional Chanaean medicine has a strong emphasis on secrecy when it comes to prescriptions. Is your father really willing to hand it over to an outsider?â Arielle asked.
Cornelius heaved out a heavy sigh. âIf given a choice, no one would be willing to hand out their familyâs secret prescriptions. But true to my fatherâs words, my siblings and I are unworthy to be his heir. It is humiliating to admit it. Although Iâm the eldest in my family, Iâve picked up traditional Chanaean medicine from my father from the moment I could read. Yet, I lack the talents needed to excel. Even if my father doesnât say it aloud, I know that I am unfit to be the next head of the Mills family. I canât improve our familyâs medical skills.â
Once again, Corneliusâ humility impressed Arielle.
It looks like Queenie is the black sheep of her family.
Coincidentally, Cornelius and his father shared identical values with the Wilhelms.
Similarly, the Wilhelms would prefer to help people with their skills than keep them to themselves. It was far more important to offer their assistance than to retain information selfishly.
Queenie appeared in Arielleâs mind. âIsnât there someone named Queenie in your family? She is a skilled doctor, isnât she?â
Although Arielle did not get along with Queenie, she had to admit that the latter was a skilled and talented doctor.
âOh? You are talking about my younger sister. Sheâs indeed much more talented than me. However.â
Cornelius paused before he continued, âMy father thinks that it is important for a doctor to be kind hearted and selfless. Queenie has yet to achieve those values.â
âWhat do you mean?â Arielle cocked an eyebrow.
Cornelius sighed again.
âFor example, Queenie refused to perform Jennieâs heart surgery until I paid for it in secret.â Corneliusâ
voice was tinged with disappointment.
âI see.â
Cornelius looked at her with a hopeful gaze. âMs. Moore, are you willing to partake in the Millsâ heir selection? I think you fit all of the requirements perfectly.â
Although Arielle mulled over his proposal, she chose to reject Corneliusâ proposal. âThough it is a generous offer, Iâll have to pass on it. I donât want to involve myself with the Mills.â
âDid you get into a conflict with one of my family members?â Cornelius asked in bewilderment.
âItâs much more complicated than a conflict.â
Iâm sure any conflict can be resolved in the blink of an eye! If you win the selection, my father will hand you all of our secrets. Think about it. All sorts of techniques, antidotes, andâ
âOkay,â Arielle said out of the blue.
Cornelius was too caught up in his rambling to notice her reply.
âPlease reconsider. The Mills are a-â Cornelius finally realized that Arielle had agreed. âWait a minute, what did you say? Did you just agree to join?â
Arielle grinned. âYou were the one who said it yourself. Any conflict that I have can be resolved. Hence, I agreed.â
For the sake of disguising her identity, Arielle agreed to Corneliusâ request.
