Chapter 764
Arielle Moore and Vinson Nightshire
Since Rube was not a common name in the small village, he had named himself Robin.
Rube nodded. âIâve brought you a gift since you helped me back then. Do you want to come to my car to have a look at it?â
Teddy knew that Rube was Arielleâs friend, so he trusted the latter a lot. He nodded excitedly and said, âSure! But I have to inform my mom about it first.â
âOkay. Also, Iâm bringing you to the town for dinner tonight. (This novel will be daily updtaed at www.m.techkasuhal.com)Tell your parents that Iâll send you home tomorrow.â
âOkay! Yeah! Iâm going to the town!â With that, Teddy ran into the house cheerfully.
A moment later, Teddy walked out while holding a womanâs hands.
She was Teddyâs mother, and her name was Josee Crawford. As soon as she saw Rube, she lowered her head apologetically, âRobin, thank you for taking him out, and Iâm sorry for troubling you.â
âDonât mention that. Teddy is an adorable and considerate kid. (This novel will be daily updtaed at www.m.techkaushal.com)Iâm happy to take him out and have some fun.â
âThank you.â Suddenly, Josee started coughing intensely after saying that.
âAre you okay?â Rube looked at her with concern. âYour sickness seems to become worse than before.
My b-boss knows a little about medical skills. How about you come with us to town? I can ask my boss to take a look at you.â
Josee waved her hand to reject him. âItâs okay. Thatâs no need for that. Iâve had it for a long time.
Moreover, we canât afford to pay for that. I donât want to waste your bossâ time.â
âItâs free of charge.â
However, Josee was insistent. âThank you, but I really donât need that. I didnât get to persuade that stubborn man for you, so I shouldnât accept your offer for granted.â
Everyone in Teddyâs family had signed the petition, except for his father. He used to work for a long time under the Southalls, so he was reluctant to accept that request.
âOkay, then. But, if your situation gets worse, you have to go to the hospital as soon as possible,â Rube replies helplessly.
Josee got so grateful that her eyes became teary. âI know that youâre asking us to sign the petitions for our own good. Iâll try my best to persuade him.â
âThank you.â Rube nodded as he turned to Teddy. âShall we go now, Teddy?â
âOkay.â Teddy waved at Josee. Then, he held Rubeâs hand and left together.
Josee watched Rube and Teddy walk away before going back into the house, coughing.
Right then, Teddyâs father, Nigel Lowe, came back to the house for lunch.
Upon scanning the surroundings, he asked, âWhereâs Teddy? Is he still gathering coals?â
âHe has gone to the town with Robin. Robin will send him home tonight.â
Most of the villagers were simple men. Hence, Nigel was not worried that Rube would do anything bad to Teddy. However, he frowned and asked angrily, âHow can you let someone take your son away like that?â
âWhat do you mean by that? Teddy hardly gets to enjoy himself in the town. Youâre his father. Canât you think more about Teddy?â
Nigel fell into silence.
Josee took the opportunity to continue with her sentence, âYou should reconsider signing the petition.
(This novel will be daily updtaed at www.m.techkaushal.com)Hasnât Robin talked to us about that? As long as we work together, we can still get the salary they owed us for years.â
Nigel continued to remain silent. He was an honest and obedient man. He had been working under the Southalls for years, so he could not bring himself to go against them.
Josee was anxious upon seeing his reaction. âCan you at least think for Teddy and me? Do you want me to end up like our daughter? We could not even afford her funeral after she died from her illness!â
Nigel took a puff of his cigarette and said, âLetâs wait for a little longer. As soon as Mrs. Southallâs funeral is over, Iâll try to claim my salary with Rick. I-If he still refuses to pay us, t-then weâll discuss it again.â It sounded like he was willing to sign the petition now.
