46: Karma

Jordie's view

"Clare, it's been a month since Gracen has talked about Emery and I'm really worried," I said.

"I know. It's so sad. It's killing Emery not talking to her. Emery even went to Gracen's house a few times but she was never there supposedly. I bet she was hiding though," Clare added.

"That's ridiculous. Honestly these two are hopeless without each other. We have to do something immediately," I said.

"Okay, but what are we supposed to do?" Clare asked.

"Hmm, we need to get them in the same place together. That way they can talk it out and realize they are so in love with eachother."

"Aww, that sounds like a good idea," Clare told me.

"I'm just not sure how we get them in the same place together without them knowing. And we need to make sure that neither of them leave before they make up,"

"Hmm. Well, we are already going to Mammoth for the week with Gracen in a few weeks, so how about we invite Emery too. That way they can't leave because it's a long way back and they will have to make up with each other," said Clare.

"Oh my god, you're a genius Clare. Let's go persuade Emery to go with us, but let's not say anything about Gracen going"

"Okay. Let's get this plan in action!" Yelled Clare.

Gracen's view

"Honey, promise you will be careful on the drive there. And make sure you bring warm clothes because I heard that it will be colder than normal there this week," my mom said.

"Mom, okay. Okay. I promise I will put on so many layers and to drive safely. Don't worry Mom. I'm going to be just fine," I told her before giving her a big hug.

"Okay. Have fun Gracen," whispered my mom.

On the way out I hugged my sister and brother and then thanked my dad for helping me get my suitcases in the care. As I pulled out the driveway, I waved goodbye to them before heading off to Clare's house. We are going to carpool there together and Jordie will meet us there an hour later.

When I got to Clare's, we hugged each other and I helped her get her stuff into my car. Soon after we were driving away.

We passed our old high school and suddenly I braked as I say several police cars in the parking lot. Clare and I were too shocked and curious to continue drying. So we parked near the school and asked an officer what was happening.

"Miss, we are here to arrest a teacher who was having an inappropriate affair with a student," explained the officer.

The next second we saw Mr. Charles being led out of school in handcuffs.

"Wait, wasn't he the teacher with Lyla?" Asked Clare.

"Oh my god, you're right Clare. I totally forgot about that. Well looks like he finally got caught,"

"Well karma finally knocked him on his ass. I say good riddance, what he did was disgusting and he was a horrible teacher," added Clare.

"I agree. Wow, this day is just starting and so far it's been really interesting. I can't wait to spend the rest of the day and week in Mammoth. It's going to be so much fun,"

"You'll be in for such a surprise," mumbled Clare.

"What?" I asked.

"Oh nothing. I just agreed that it's totally going to be fun," Clare said.

Emery's view

"Hey Em! Ready to go yet?" Asked Jordie.

"Hold on Jordie, I'm almost done packing," I yelled down.

"Jeez Em, why do you do everything last minute?" He asked.

"Bad habit I guess,"

After I doubled check I had everything I went down stairs to go meet Jordie and say bye to my family.

I noticed my mom in deep thought looking through some papers.

"Hey mom, I'm leaving. Is there anything you need? Are you doing okay?"

"Yeah honey, don't worry," she said.

But I could tell she was stressed out about my dad's baby. We found out the reason why Lyla and Jackson's mom kept the baby was to get my dad to marry her and to get half his money. But the thing she didn't know was that my dad turned out to be broke and in a little debt from his alcohol abuse. So Lyla's mom left the baby with my dad and took her kids and left.

But since my dad is an alcoholic, he can't take care of a baby. So we've been having a hard time with social workers. My family and I have been trying to take her in, but all the paper work is tough. But my baby sister, Luna, is family and we will always be there for her no matter what. Hopefully this whole mess will be settled pretty soon.

I hugged my mom to reassure her everything was going to be okay. Then I said bye to my brothers and before getting into the car I noticed Ethan giving Jordie a sweet kiss. I'm so happy they are back together, but it makes me a little sad because then I start thinking about Gracen.

I push that thought aside when Jordie gets in the car. I hope this trip is so much fun and helps me cope with losing Gracen. Who knows what will happen on this trip to Mammoth.
