C H A P T E R 4 6

Lily's POV

My nerves were all over the place right, Adonis and I were about to leave for the Hamilton Charity Gala. Tonight Mum Pam was announcing her retirement and my new position. She had invited a lot of people associated with the Hamilton Cancer Reseach Foundation including my parents and brother.

No one knew Mrs Hamilton was retiring except the people who needed to know essentially the board of the foundation which were Mr and Mrs Hamilton, Adonis, Annaliese and a few other members like Mrs Tippet who was Adonis's grandmother's best friend. I had met the board and they gave me alot of support and were excited to work with me which made me feel better.

Besides the Charity, I had so much going on with the swimwear brand launch, wedding planning, needing to move to the new house and so much more.

I was looking in the mirror, trying to the give myself a pep talk to not be nervous but it was not working. I shut my eyes and I felt Adonis's arms slip around me and he kissed me on my neck. I sighed in relief and Adonis said, 'I know you're nervous and my mum is a lot of things but she would not choose you if you did not deserve it or if she didn't think you were not perfect for the job. '

I felt relief flow through my chest, Adonis knew exactly what to say to make me feel better. He pulled away and grabbed my hands, pulled me towards him and said, 'Besides I know you'll be great. I can't wait for you to fulfil one of your biggest goals and I promise I'll be your biggest supporter the whole way and if you get lost on your way I'll let you know.'

I smiled up at my fiance and thought this is the rest of my life and I couldn't be more excited. He is so supportive and loving and I cannot wait for our life together to start. I wanted us to get married soon but I wanted us to have an amazing wedding too. He put his hand on my face lightly and said, 'What are you thinking?'

I stepped closer to his body put my hands on his chest and said, 'Just how lucky I am, just how excited I am for our life together to begin.'

He gave me a peck on my lips and said, 'You have no idea, how excited I am. I would run off with you to Vegas so we get married soon.'

I chuckled and gave him another peck and then we started making our way down to the Rolls Royce Truck where Dylan was standing with the door open.

We got to the venue and the first people we saw were Kendall and Rebecca. We shared hugs and had a conversation till Kendall and Rebecca cracked and started having an argument then Adonis and I moved on to his parents. Mrs Hamilton was as cheerful as always and came and gave me a hug.

It was time to sit already for the announcement and we hadn't been able to greet my parents. Mrs Hamilton went up and said, 'Evening everyone, hope you are all enjoying the evening.'

We applauded and she said, 'I know there have been rumours going around about my retirement as Chairman of the Hamilton Cancer Research Foundation and it's true.

I am retiring because I believe I have found the best person to take over, the person who I know will even do better than me because of the love and passion she has for the project at hand. She is incredibly compassionate, loving, patient, giving, strong, smart and when it came to who I wanted to fill this role her name came naturally to me. I pride myself in being a good judge of character and I am confident in my decision.

Let me stop my rambling and announce our new Chairman of the Hamilton Cancer Research Foundation.'

She was enjoying the suspense, my heart was pounding and Adonis was rubbing my thigh to calm me down and she had people's interest. She took a deep breathe and said, 'Lily Rose Hart my daughter in law.'

There was an applause and much to my surprise people were on their feet applauding us. I stood up and Adonis was smiling proudly, I shared a hug with Mr Hamilton, Mrs Tippet and Mr Peterson who were on the same table as us. I took Adonis's hand and he helped me up onto the stage and I wanted him to come up but he shook his head slightly and applauded from the bottom of the two stairs he had helped me up.

I shared a hug with Mrs Hamilton and said, 'I know you are going to be amazing Lily.'

She stepped aside and I got to the microphone and said, 'Thank you all for this moment right here.

Thank you Mrs Hamilton, Mr Hamilton, Mrs Tippet and Mr Peterson for thinking of me for this position and your endless support in preparing me. '

I looked to the side and Mrs Hamilton was tearing up so I gave her hand a squeeze. I continued and said, 'My older brother Kendall can atest to the fact that this is something I have wanted for my whole life and how important this is to me. Thank you all so much for this opportunity, it's an absolute honour and I promise to do my absolute best.

Thank you to my fiance for being my ultimate supporter, I love you so much. '

Adonis was smiling looking up at me from where he was standing and he looked proud. I smiled and said, 'Thank you.'

There was another standing ovation and I went down whers Adonis was waiting for me. Adonis gave me a peck on my lips and I smiled as we walked back to our seats.

People had been congradulating me and I got some gems of advice from the people. Kendall and Rebecca were very proud of me and that had meant the world to me. I hadn't spoken to my parents still and I didn't know how they felt but Mum Pam was taking me with her introducing me and ahe was just proud of me. We had even gone to people she didn't like and when she walked away she said she just wanted to show off her daughter in law in their face and I had a lot of fun with her. Mum Pam was really cheeky and she knew all the tea.

I was walking with Adonis and my dad motioned for us to come over. Adonis didn't say anything but he squeezed my hand showing support. We got to my parents and I said, 'Evening mum, evening dad.'

Adonis cleared his throat and said, 'Evening Mr and Mrs Hart.'

They smiled at us and my dad said, 'Princess, I am proud of you.'

I smiled and said, 'Thank you dad. This means a lot to me.'

I looked to my mum and she said, 'How come you never said you wanted to be a chairman?'

I shrugged and said, 'I didn't want you to feel like you had to give me the position because I wanted it and I was your daughter. '

She took my hands and said, 'Oh baby.'

I shrugged and said, 'It isn't a big deal anymore, Adonis made me realise that it doesn't matter where, it just matters that I help people and this organisation is special.'

I turned around to smile at Adonis and he gave me a smile. I turned back to face my parents and my said, 'How is the wedding planning going?'

I sighed and said, 'It's going but I just have a lot to do at the moment so it's on the back burner for now.'

She nodded and I said, 'But I'll need to get you guys together for a brief meeting sometime this week to start planning.'

She hummed and said, 'Excuse us. '

We walked away and Adonis said, 'Rose you know I want to marry you as soon as I can but don't stretch yourself I can wait. In my eyes we are already married.'

I smiled and gave him a kiss and I said, 'Thank you baby. I want us to get married soon though you have no idea.'

He chucked and put his hands on my face and said, 'Just don't stress yourself in any way please and if you need help you can ask me we'll come up with a plan. '

I put my hands on his shoulder and said, 'What did I do to deserve you?'

He shook his head and said, 'No the question is what did I do to deserve you but I have the rest of our lives to try figure that out.'

I laughed and said, 'We are so cheesy.'

He shrugged and said, 'Maybe that's true but I believe we are happy.'

I smiled and went in for a kiss and I felt him smile.
