C H A P T E R 35

Adonis's POV

Adonis's outfit for the day

There was a knock on my office door and I looked up and said ,'Come in.'

Norman walked in and said ,'Good morning sir, you have no meetings today except the meeting with Mr Hammond the majority owner of Los Angeles Chargers. '

I nodded with a smirk on my face, the meeting with the owner was for none other than Damien himself. The plans was just to instill fear in him so I went for the easiest plan I didn't have time to do a lot and I needed him to not bother Rose anymore.

The plan was to buy shares and become one of the major shareholders. I don't plan on actually doing anything just to make him nervous, maybe I'll have a bit of fun with it just pop up for inspections and make him a bit nervous.

I walked into the restaurant and took a seat at the table I had reserved. A text came in from Anneliese and she was telling me how Rose was still sleeping. I was getting a bit worried about Rose because she had not woken up but I figured she was tired but now it's two in the afternoon.

I heard Mr Hammond say ,'Mister Hamilton it's an honour to be meeting with you.'

I stood up and shook Mr Hammond's hand and said ,'Thank you for meeting on such short notice. '

He shook his head and said ,'It's not a problem at all. When I heard you wanted a meeting I had to, it's you.'

I chuckled and we took a seat. We ordered our food and he said ,'So what is the meeting about? '

I took a sip of my wine and said ,'Well I wanted to offer you money for half of your Los Angeles Chargers shares.'

Mr Hammond smiled and said, 'I thought you hadn't gotten my email offering you my shares over a year ago.'

I did not remember the offer but I do remember a time period when a lot of offers came to me from several football teams. I was not aware that Los Angeles Chargers were one of them.

I nodded and said ,'I would like to buy the shares from you.'

He nodded and said ,'I would be happy with that just be in contact with my team.'

I nodded and said ,'It's a pleasure doing business with you Mr Hammond.'

He nodded and said ,'The pleasure is all mine.'

I leant back into my chair and said ,'I want to have a ball with the entire Chargers team from cleaning staff, the players to the executives.'

He nodded and I said ,'I would love for you and your family to come as well.'

He nodded and said ,'We'll be there. I'm assuming this is a confidential situation like usual.'

I nodded, we spent the rest of lunch talking about business. I got into the car and dialled Rose's number. It rung for a bit then Rose answered ,'Hey.'

I connected to the car's bluetooth and said ,'Morning sleeping beauty.'

She sighed and said ,'I'm switching to facetime.'

I hummed, started driving and my phone was on my lap. Rose said ,'Adonis why am I on your lap?'

I chuckled and said ,'I'm driving back to the office I just had a lunch meeting with Mr Hammond.'

She hummed and said ,'And that would be?'

I drove into my parking spot at the office and said ,'The majority owner of the shares of the Los Angeles Chargers.'

I picked up the phone and she said ,'I hope you aren't spending too much money on Damien he really isn't worth it.'

I shrugged and said ,'Well it technically isn't a lot of money to me.'

She rolled her eyes at me and said ,'Let's be arrogant Adonis but seriously don't spend too much.'

I smiled at her worrying and said ,'I have to take you off facetime I'm walking to the office.'

She hummed and I switched off the facetime and said ,'The whole organisation is coming for the ball and it will be announced.'

She laughed and said ,'Okay let me guess, you just want him tense.'

I chuckled and said ,'That's accurate.'

She sighed and said, 'I just don't want to have to handle it I'm sick and tired so sick and tired. '

She was quiet for a little bit and then she said ,'Okay baby, have a good day, I'm still tired so I'm going back to bed.'

I quickly said ,'Lily you better not keep me up tonight because you can't sleep. '

She hummed she was probably already half asleep and she said ,'I won't.'

I didn't trust that, Lily is definitely time to keep me up because she can't sleep. I sighed and said ,'Okay baby, sweet dreams.'

I imagined her soft smile and she said ,'Thank you baby. Tell me when you are done with work so I can wake up and cook dinner.'

I couldn't help the grin that grew at the thought and I said ,'You don't have to baby.'

She hummed and said ,'I miss cooking so I'm going to.'

I internally celebrated and I said ,'Okay baby go to bed.'

She hummed and I ended the call and I was smiling in the elevator. I looked to my side and Norman was looking at me with a smug look so I decided I was going to ignore him.

I was now sitting in my office doing paperwork, going through and signing some contracts and making presentations for upcoming meetings with the board and with some Directors in the company.

I kept looking up at the clock and the time was not moving fast enough, I felt like I was either working very fast or time was moving very slow. I had finished all my work for today and I was starting the work for tomorrow just so I leave the office at six in the evening.

My office phone started ringing and Norman said ,'Mr Hammond is on line two.'

I answered the phone and said ,'Mr Hammond.'

He replied and said ,'I got the agreed amount already and from my understanding there was an extra amount.'

I answered and said ,'That is accurate it was just to thank you for taking my offer even though I was late, I'm sorry I didn't see the email before.'

He answered and said ,'Thank you Mr Hamilton, I'm very excited to work with you.'

I hummed and said ,'Thank you , I'm excited as well.'

I ended the call because it was now six o'clock so I quickly packed my laptop and some contracts incase Lily decides to keep me up tonight watching tv. I walked out of my office and went to Norman's office and said ,'Norman, I'm off and you should probably head to your pregnant girlfriend.'

Norman let out an exaggerated sigh and I know he wanted me to ask what was wrong.  I groaned and said ,'What is the problem Norman?'

He smiled and said ,'Thanks for asking, how could you tell?'

I deadpanned at her and he put his hands up and said ,'I want to propose.'

My face didn't change because I wasn't shocked Norman was in love and had been for a long time. I boredly looked at him and said ,'Wow man congradulations.'

He deadpanned back at me and he said ,'I don't know how to.'

I clamped my hands together and said ,'Norman are you proposing tonight?'

He shook his head no and I said ,'So how about we go home tonight and Lily and I will think of ideas for you and then I'll bring a list tomorrow.'

He looked thoughtful then said ,'That's a good idea, Lily will probably come up with something better than us.'

I nodded and said ,'Great so I'll bring the list tomorrow and hey I'm proud of you man. Took you long enough but I'm proud regardless.'

He nodded with a smile and I walked out. I pulled my phone out and texted Lily that I was on my way and she replied that she had started dinner but it might be awhile.

I got to the parking and Francis was waiting for me with the car door open. I stepped in and we were on our way home. It was a bit of a drive and so I was going through social media. Lily and I were a really liked couple now so it was kind of amazing to see at times. I was on Instagram and saw Anneliese's instagram story and it was Lily and she was taking out, I think brownies.

We got home and I said ,'Thank you Francis enjoy your night.'

He nodded and said ,'You too sir.'

I walked into the house and quietly snuck up the stairs to take a shower and change. I could hear Anne talking and there was music playing. I quickly showered and put on a pair of basketball shorts and a black tshirt.

I walked downstairs and quietly walked into the kitchen. Lily was facing the stove, looking at something on the stove and Anne was nowhere to be found. I walked behind her and put my arms around her. She sighed and leaned back into my hold and said ,'Hey.'

I smiled and said ,'Hey, you still tired?'

She turned around to face me and hugged me looking up at me and she said ,'No I'm all recovered now.'

I smiled and dipped my head down to give her a kiss. We made out for a little bit then we heard Anne running down the stairs singing very loud. I rolled my eyes and said ,'This is your fault, you allowed her to stay here.'

She rolled her eyes and said ,'Don't even start. '

I laughed and I kissed her forehead. She turned back to the stove and I put my chin on her shoulder and said ,'What's for dinner?'

I saw she was  smiling and she said ,'I made some barbeque pork ribs, garlic and cheese mashed potatoes and a garden salad with a fudge brownie and vanilla ice cream. '

I hummed and said ,'I'm excited baby.'

She giggled and said ,'I need to focus baby, I want to finish go set the table.'

I stayed where I was for a second and then moved away to set the table. Anneliese was sitting at the breakfast bar on her phone and I said ,'Well hello to you baby sister, yeah I had a good day how was yours?'

She looked up at me with a blank face then looked back down. I started setting the table and when I went back into the kitchen she was plating everyone's food. The kitchen smelt amazing and I was so wxcited to dive in. Lily was really good at cooking and I could tell she really enjoyed it as well.

She handed me two plates and she pointed and said ,'That's yours,' she pointed at the other one and said ,'That's Anne's.'

I nodded and we walked into the dining room where Anne was already seated. I put her plate on the table and went to take a seat.

Anne looked up and said ,'Hey Adonis, when did you get home?'

I deadpanned at her and she laughed, she obviously found it hilarious. I decided not to answer her and so I just stayed quiet. I had a fork of the mashed potatoes and they practically just melted in my mouth. I sighed in satisfaction and I looked at Anne and I could tell she was enjoying her food as well, she was practically inhaling her food.

It was silent for a little bit and Lily said ,'Tomorrow morning I'm going to New York.'

I paused my fork going into my mouth and curiously said ,'Why?'

I continued shovelling my food and she said ,'I took your advice about the whole charity situation and I joined a charity and I have to host a bake sale tomorrow evening.'

I smiled and said ,'I'm so so proud of you baby.'

I leaned forward and I gave her a peck and she said ,'Yeah I'm really excited I hope it has like a lot of results.'

I nodded and I said ,'Am I allowed to come?'

She looked thoughtful and said ,'Work Adonis, I don't want people to start saying you're slacking because of me.'

My father had actually told me that my work had improved and I had been working faster and more efficiently probably because I have something to look forward to after work. I looked at her and said ,'Please.'

She sighed then smiled and said ,'Okay, I wanted you to come anyway.'

I smiled and Anne said ,'Can I come too?'

Lily turned to Anne and said ,'Anne you just missed two days of school.'

She huffed and said ,'Fine that's fair.'

Rose laughed and said ,'Maybe next time.'

I looked at Rose and said ,'Do you mind if I invite two of my friends in New York, Kieran is practically addicted to desserts so you can count on him to spend a lot.'

Lily nodded and said ,'Of course just let me know, it's an invite only bake sale so I'll need to get them invites.'

Lily was sitting back drinking water and she   said ,'So how do you know Kieran?'

I put my cutlery down and said ,'We were in University together and he is one of my best mates. I never see him because he is a citizen of the world this is the longest he has been in America actually which is weird so I'm curious.'

She nodded and said ,'So he was in your group of friends with Connor?'

I nodded and said ,'Yeah he is but he is very quiet and a workaholic.'

She nodded, stood up and said,'Well Mr boyfriend, you can do the dishes.'

I looked up at her as she stood next to my chair and but I couldn't help but stare in awe. Rose looked gorgeous and she was my girlfriend, my girlfriend.
