C H A P T E R 30

Lily's POV

Adonis and I had just landed back to LA from his birthday bash. Except for the fight I had with Jane and Nicole about not hanging out with them on the second day, it had gone well. We went jetskiing, then we went on a yacht and I still hadn't talked to Jane and Nicole.

Our conversation did not go too well just like Adonis had predicted they were unhappy with me hanging out with Gina, Kevin, Kelly and Brandon.

As soon as Adonis had stepped into the house Jane had been like, 'So are you done hanging out with these new people.'

Her statement had rubbed me in a very irritating way and as a result I had not been in a good mood for the conversation. I had maybe with a bit of attitude replied saying ,'What's that supposed to mean?'

Jane folded her arms and with equal attitude said ,'I was wondering if you want to hang with us now or maybe you're still with your new friends.'

I had nodded with understanding because all of a sudden it was as if I understood to them it was like I could not have other friends on this trip.

I folded my arms and said ,'No, we are going jetskiing then the guys are choosing what we get to do tonight.'

Nicole had also come in as well and she said ,'So you just aren't going to hang out with us.'

I had unfolded my arms and I said ,'Guys it's Adonis's birthday and you want to fight with me about something that just seems so petty. He hasn't seen those guys in such a long time and we are having a great time Gina and Kelly are so nice and honestly at the end of this trip we will probably be friends. For me today is Adonis's special day. Do you hear Connor complaining about it, no, because he gets that Kieran hasn't seen them in forever. '

I was about to continue and Jane said ,'So you abandon us?'

I rolled my eyes and said ,'Abandon. Okay, I'm going to go get ready for my day.'

I had walked into the house and slammed the door. I just would not let them ruin Adonis's day so I cheered up and my day went great from there on.

We walked off the private jet and I was carrying my blanket. There was a car waiting for us, I was so tired because Kelly, Gina and I had stayed up the whole night. The guys had been playing video games and we ended up having a girl's night. I slept on the plane and right now I was still drained and I was planning on getting home and sleeping more.

I got into the car and I switched on my phone. There were a lot of messages coming in, some of them being people saying thank you for the trip. I went onto the instagram and Adonis had posted a picture of me on his story.

We arrived home and Anne was waiting for us with a huge smile on her face. She ran and hugged me and said ,'I missed you guys so much.'

I laughed at her excitedness and she pulled me inside and Adonis shouted behind us ,'How about your brother?'

She ignored him and said ,'I have to update you on so much. '

I smiled as we sat on the couches and she said ,'Ronald and I made up but it wasn't easy but it happened. We have a date tomorrow night and I'm so excited and you need to get me ready.'

I nodded and Adonis came into the living room and saw me yawning. He came and pulled me up and said to Anne ,'Hey little sister.'

She waved at him and he said ,'I'm going to take Rose to bed because she did not sleep last night at all.'

Before Anne could reply Adonis was carrying me upstairs with him. I kicked off my slides and got into our bed and sighed in relief. Adonis kissed my forehead and said something but I was already drifting off so I didn't hear it. I did hear the door open and close meaning Adonis had left the room.

I woke up and Adonis was sitting beside me in the bed typing away on his laptop. I decided to watch him for a little bit. He had one strand of hair hanging in front of his forehead but the rest of the hair was still slicked backwards but you could tell he had run his hand through his hair a couple of times because it was a messy kind of neat. His glasses were sitting on his nose nicely, he was shirtless and he had tanned nicely ad his skin looked close to golden in the rooms lighting.

Adonis looked well rested and he was practically glowing. I turned to my side table and picked up my phone and there were some missed calls. The calls were from Kendall, I called him back.

Kendall finally picked up and he said ,'How come you never pick up when I call you?'

I laughed and he said ,'No deadass, you need to start putting a special and loud ringtone for me. I bet if it was Adonis you would have picked up really fast.'

I rolled my eyes and said ,'That's probably because you always call me when I'm sleeping.'

I heard him scoff and say ,'You never have a proper sleep schedule.'

I laughed and said ,'That might be true. So what's up?'

I got out of the bed and walked to go sit on our very large balcony. We had just redecorated the balcony for our bedroom. We had put an outdoor bed that we come adjust to be a couch if needed, there was a swing seat and a large tv for us to watch movies outside. The balcony came out perfect and I knew I would be working and sitting out here a lot. The same way I always use the window seat.

I sat cross legged on the bed and Kendall sighed and said ,'I think you should talk to mum and dad about taking over the Charity Foundation.'

I sighed and said ,'Why?'

He took a while to answer and said ,'Mum found someone to take over for her and they are announcing it soon. Mum wants to retire in like two weeks. It's now or never.'

I sighed again and said ,'I don't have it in me to have to ask them for it. You didn't have to ask for the family business they asked you to take over clearly they don't see me as capable. '

Kendall was about to say something and I said ,'It's okay Kendall I promise don't worry about me.'

He sighed and said ,'Are you sure? I know how much you've wanted this.'

I smiled sadly and said ,'I promise Kendall, it's always about helping others and there are other ways to do it that isn't with me as the head of the family foundation.'

He sighed again and said ,'I still think you should have this.'

I laughed and said ,'Thanks Kendall for always looking out for me.'

He replied and said ,'You know no one will ever have your back the way I do.'

I smiled because it was true, there was never a time that Kendall had failed to be there for me. He worried about my safety even when I was not and that's why I feel eternally thankful.

I smiled and said ,'I know.'

He said ,'Okay I got to go, talk to you soon butterfly.'

I nodded and we ended the call. I sat without moving for a bit and sighed I had known this was coming but why is it that I was still deeply hurt. I guess deep down I was hopeful that my mum would somehow remember me. This was something I spent so much time with my grandmother doing and I was upset I didn't get to take it over but that was life.

I felt tears roll down my face and I quickly wiped them away but they kept streaming down my face. I heard the door to the balcony open and I tried as slickly as possible to wipe my tears away.

He came and hugged me from behind making my body sit between his legs. He put his chin on my shoulder and said ,'Are you okay?'

I nodded and he said ,'If you're okay then why are you trying to hide your tears from me.'

I thought and said ,'What tears?'

He looked about me with his side eye and said ,'I saw you crying, what happened?'

I sniffled and said ,'It's really childish.'

He pulled me even closer and said ,'How about I be the judge of that.'

I sighed and said ,'My mum found someone to become head of the Hart Charity Foundation.'

I looked at him from my side eye and he looked thoughtful. He said ,'I happen to think your emotions are justified.'

I sniffled again and said ,'Really?'

He nodded and said ,'I remember you told me in Cancun how much it meant to you and how much you wanted it. However you can't let yourself be disappointed there are plenty of Charity Foundations you can be the head of. Keep your head held high. '

I sighed and leaned deeper into him and he said ,'Promise me you won't let this bring you down tomorrow. The moping ends today.'

I was quiet and he said ,'I'm waiting?'

I smiled at the playful tone in his voice. When I didn't speak again he began tickling me and I agreed while laughing. We were now both sitting on the bed on the balcony he was getting some work done and I was as well. I was organising my calendar for the next few months. It was going to be a busy next few months because there were plenty of fashion shows I was taking part in.

Adonis cleared his throat and I turned to look at him and he took off his glasses. He leaned back onto his hands and said ,'I have to increase your security.'

I furrowed my eyebrows at him amd said ,'Why?'

He looked at the view of the pool from our balcony and said ,'I just want to make sure you're safe.'

I looked at him and said ,'This feels very dramatic because I already have security detail and I dont want to walk around with so many people around me it's attention grabbing.'

He looked at me and said ,'Don't you think your safety is more important than what people see.'

I closed my eyes and calmly said ,'Adonis I'm not in danger.'

He got up and picked up his laptop and said ,'I'm not discussing this, you'll meet the extension of your security detail tomorrow. '

I groaned loudly and fell onto my back. I don't want any more attention coming to me because I don't feel like being judged, I hate it. I groaned out in frustration again and from inside our room he said ,'You can groan all you want.'

I frowned in the direction of our room in annoyance. He came to the door and I gave him a fake smile and he said ,'Let's go have dinner.'

I bared my teeth towards him and walked past him. I heard him sigh and I kept walking. I took a seat on the table and started catching up with Anneliese.
