C H A P T E R 2

Lily's POV

Tomorrow was the day of the ball and so for the past few days I had been with the team setting up for it. Our plan was to finish setting up today and tomorrow we will come in to make sure everything was up to the high standard it should be. Tomorrow was also Adonis and I's first appearance in public together and I felt more nervous for this because I had planned everything down  to the last minute for the ball but with Adonis and I it could literally go any direction. Another thing was that Damien and Emily were both invited and I know it had been four weeks but I hadn't seen either of them since the situation happened.

I am going around making sure that everything that had been put somewhere was in the correct place. I see my assistant Jenny coming towards me and I stand waiting for her and she hands me a smoothie and I say ,'Jenny thank you so much, how'd you know?'

She smiled and said ,'When do I not,' and we both laughed at that.

We have finished everything to do with the setting up of the Charity Ball and I had a spa appointment with Jane which Ben had got for us. Ben always treated us to stuff like this, he would call our assistants and say he booked us a spa appointment at the time he would've booked it and where we wpuld have booked it. The first few times he did it we had really not wanted him to amd we fought but he didn't stop so now it was just a thing in our friendship. Ben was the tupe of person who had never been tight with his money but he was super responsible with it, he had shares in a Tech Company and a Restaurant Company and a really big trustfund so besides his salary from football he had lots of money coming in.

I drove to the spa and saw that Jane was already there on her phone. I walked towards her with a smile I always missed my best friends but they were busy and sometimes I was busy. We hugged and went towards the desk where they greeted us. They led is to the back and we changed into pur robes and walked to the massaging tables and Jane asked in a very suggestive tone,'So have you talked to your boyfriend?'

I rolled my eyes and said ,'No I've been busy and he is always busy so I'll see him tomorrow evening.'

'You're so nervous, aren't you?' Jane asked laughing at me.

My mouth opened and I said ,'Am not.' Even though I'm a tense about the whole thing.'

Jane kept laughing and said ,'You so are and those two will be there. Am I right?'

I turned to look at her and said ,'Yeah they are and to be completely honest with you I don't know if they are coming together or not. But if they are I don't think I'm ready to see it. It really hurt we have been friends with Emily forever and I just couldn't believe she would do this. I mean you know when I caught them she didn't say a word to me.'

Jane looked at me with worry and said ,'I'm really sorry bubs.'

I was about to reply but the masseuses came in and introduced themselves and got started. Somewhere during the time of the massage I fell asleep because this guy was good and looking at the look on Jane's face she slept too.

We moved through the stations and this time we talked about happy topics only. We took at selfie whilst we were having our mud facials done and sent it to Ben who put it on his instagram story. Girls fans had got used to us because they knew we were his best friends well at least I was. I have always thought Jane and Ben had a thing for each other but for some unheard of reason they never acted on it and as a result they dated other people but it never seemed to last and I know it's because they are meant to be and maybe that'll be my mission for the some time and see if I can help it.

We were sitting in tubs of mud and I decided to get started and turned to Jane and said ,'How's Ben?'

She started choking on her champagne amd then she calmed down and said ,'Weren't you just talking to him.'

I nodded and said ,'Yeah I was ,but how is he?'

I could she the pink on her cherls and she said ,'He's good.'

I hummed and continued replying people in my phone, these two are totally getting together. I now knew that Jane liked Ben so I just had to check with Ben but last I noticed that he did.

A text came in from Adonis, we had exchanged numbers after the lunch that day but we hadn't talked really.

Adonis:

Hey

Me:

Hey

Adonis:

How are you?

Me:

I'm okay, how are you?

Adonis:

I'm good too. I was wondering what time you wanted me to pick you up tomorrow for the ball.

Me:

I think you can come at like seven thirty

Adonis:

Okay cool, I'll see you tomorrow

Me:

Yeah, see you :)

When I got home I took a shower and went straight to sleep. I woke up at like nine am the next morning and got ready for the last minute checking and setting up of the ball. I  gpt into my car and drove towards Starbucks and got an ice coffee and went to the place where the ball was being held.

I was walking around with Jenny checking if everything was up to high standard when my mother walked in. I excused myself from Jenny and walked towards my mother.

I got to her and hugged her and said ,'Good morning mother, how are you?'

She smiled and said ,'I'm good honey amd I can see everything here looks fantastic.'

That made a huge smile appear on my face because I wanted my mother to be confident in my abilities to take over the Charity Foundation when she was done. There were a lot of people's opinions that didn't matter to me but my grandparents, my parents and my older brother their opinion mattered so much to me.

She then looked at me and said,' Well aren't you going to explain to me how things are running tonight.'

I nodded and motioned for her to follow me and I started outside. I began and said ,'So people are starting off on the red carpet and then they walk in and head up these stairs. There will be announcer introducing everyone as they come in and they walk down the stairs. The dj station is over there,the bar is over there. As you can see from up there the tables are arranged in a spiral like design but you can't tell when you're down there. The table in the csntre is where the group from Unicef is going to be seated because they are the centre of attention it's what we planned this event for. You and dad are sitting with the Adonis's parents, Ben's parents, Emily's parents, Jane's Parents, the Howards, the Jameson's and Uncle Ronald and Aunt Glenny. So there is some time to mingle at the beginning then there is a presentation from Unicef and then from that we have the main meal and then dessert and then you stay as long as you want. There are no starters because they'll be served as people are walking around so they'll be waiters waiters walking around with champagne and some with like finger foods.'

I looked at my mum and all she had to say was ,'You want me to be on the same tabke as Damien's parents and Emily's parents.'

I laughed and said ,'Well you don't have to talk to them but just behave mum.'

She said ,'Sweetheart, I love you and you know that but I'm not going to behave.'

I gave her a look and said ,'Mum please it's my first event, pretty please. I'll even use my puppy dog eyes.'

She groaned and said ,'Fine but they better not be in my way ever.'

I rolled my eyes at her and said ,'Okay mum, whatever.'

She hooked arms with me and sat me down and said ,'So how is Adonis?'

I knew there was a catch. Jane's mum,Ben's mum, my mum and Adonis's mum are like teenage girls the way they gossip. I turned to look at her and said ,'I don't know mum, he's good I'm guessing.'

She rolled her eyes and said ,'Have you guys even been talking?'

'We texted yesterday but it was about the ball.' I replied and then added ,'Don't push us mum.'

She said ,'I know we are already asking a lot of you but you guys would be perfect. Remember when you were a child and you were crying because he was leaving.'

I smiled remembering the day, I was so hirt when he had told me. It was also the day that he had kissed me on the cheek which made me cry harder because my crush was leaving me.

My mum then said ,'You had the cutest crush on him amd I'm almost a hundred percent sure he had a crush on you too.'

I blushed and said ,'Mum that's enough.'

She laughed and said ,'Okay I'll stop but I think you shouldn't think about how it came to be and just be girlfriend and boyfriend because you never know.'

I mean she was right I didn't have a reason for me not to give it a try.

I put my head on my shoulder and said ,' What if I'm boring like I was for Damien and he cheats too.'

My mum took my face in her hands and said ,'Baby look, I'll tell you what you aren't you aren't but do you know what you are, you are gorgeous, you are fun, you are caring, you are kind, you are smart and anybody is lucky to have you. If Damien wants Emily for some odd reason he can go ahead but you are better than her in more ways than you'll ever know.'

When she finished a tear slipped out of my eyes and she wiped them away. As much as I  may want to act like I'm unaffected my mum will always somehow manage get me to cry or shout or something. I hugged her and she squeezed me tight and we were like this for awhile then we pulled away she wiped my face and said ,'Look at you easily the prettiest young lady I've ever seen.'
